I was just researching this watch! This watch, to me, is what the whole industry is about. It's not meant to be functional, it's more art than it is a watch. Just the fact that you can look down and get lost in the gear interacting or the escapement spinning is what makes this watch so special. It might not be for everyone, but I think its a treat for those who love it.
I think that the ulysse may not be every ones cup of tea, but full credit to them for coming up with a time piece that is so unique and unlike just about any other watch. Think that this piece may inspire up and coming watch makers of the future to try out different design and movement.
Ulysse Nardin is a wonderful brand, I truly love them! While the Freak One is a very impressive masterpiece, it didn‘t get me as much as the Freak S. The Freak S would be my grail watch if I had a big enough wrist to wear it (and if it would actually be available) For people interested in the Freak, I can highly recommend the Freak X! They are much easier to wear, to afford and already give you this very unique experience of wearing a watch that basically no one will recognize on your wrist. And if someone does, they will truly appreciate what you wear 😉
I recently bought a limited edition $12,500 watch (only 17 made), and as I go through the day I find myself checking my wrist, not to check the time, but to check if the watch is still there. So people who own super expensive watches must somehow feel comfortable wearing these very expensive watches. I would like to see a video about that.
Freak S is even more phenomenal, the first show watch I would be really keen on having. This one is great, but I think would be much less common than a Freak X, which is more reasonably priced
see the store once in Shanghai. Now I learn the beauty of it. Just wondered how the tik sounds. Actually for my personal purchase I will listen close to how it sounds. just like that Omega did in their website. I hope if the sound is special Teddy can put the sound in the video so we can have a different dimension of understanding the beauty of mechanical watch.
Great video Teddy. I first saw this watch roughly 20 years ago - before I was collecting watches - and thought “OMG I’ve got to have this”. So cool. Of course, reality (ie price) got in the way lol
Wow, that upside-down might be my new favorite watch that I'll never be able to afford, 😂😂😢. Whenever it says price upon request I immediately know I can't afford it. That complication is so cool in my opinion though.
Very nice piece. I like the way you focus on the full price range of watches. The critical point for me is that one needs enough personal wealth coupled with the sensibility to collect watches as a piece of mechanical art. Once in that position, buying a Freak becomes almost an inevitability, given the degree of originality and coherence of the design and materials (as it also does with the ALS Zeitwerk and, although I am too focused on ALS, for me I suspect eventually also an FP Journe). I enjoy possession of a number of Freaks, most recently the Freak S. I am looking forward to seeing if and how UN can create a new Freak that inspires me to want to collect another after the Freak S. Or will they advance in another, possibly related direction?
Hi teddy, great video. I'd like to ask you, Is it possible to bring a video talking about Wenger watch Brand, Is it a bad choice?? Maybe a review, such as wenger attitude automatic watch, thanks in advance for any info. Luv your videos. Greetings from Chile.
I was on your website the other day was just about to check out with a dozen of your Seiko Watches only to find out ya don’t post to Australia guess I take my twenty thousand Aussie dollars else where c ya teddy
Great review , but can U maybe made video about your watches collection, I know that u maybe dont like that but, it will be cool that we all see all your watches u have, I know that U made before videos about collection but some new in 2023 updated will be great, :) thx
I wish there were more quality affordable watches showed the mechanism on the dial side. I really want to see the gears moving and the balance wheel whirling away.
Another evidence of the expertise to design watches in Switzerland . This watch is a little bit too crazy for me . 68 000 $ give me a lot of opportunity to find one or two watches that i truly love.
It's fair to say I have pretty boring taste in watch design generally going for rather traditional looks, but that it an amazing timepiece that I would certainly add to my watch box if I had the budget for it.
Hallo Teddy, it is for sure interesting and clever, but for me to much going on, makes me dizzy. All do I like to see what the brand comes up with and it's geniuses. Thanks from Switzerland 🇨🇭, rachel
The freak is amazing and being the first to use silicon is pretty special, I would be tempted by the freak x if I had money to burn but the sad thing is there watches mostly look awful. I’m happy to admire the great things they do but it’s unfortunate that they do very little to impress
IF I'm not mistaken, the original Freak was the first (and only) watch to be featured on the cover of the Guiness Book of World records. Just like Rolex, though, you have to be careful of fakes: especially their vintage watches as well as the "newer models" like the Freak.I started collecting UN wrist watches in 2001, but never had a Freak.
I absolutely love visible mechanics especially on watches. However to me this watch is ugly. However I am sincerely glad for the inspiration it has brought and it’s weird and quirky beauty that I simply cannot appreciate fully.
I tell you something honestly, Teddy, never told anybody, I've seen some of the videos, your girlfriend's videos, I have to tell you, they are scary. You know, you have often heard about some scientific proofs or whatever, many philosophers worked on that, wrote tones of books, existentialists you know- life has no purpose, universe has no plans for us, etc. Don't believe them, even artists, they work in art, talk about art, write about art, call themselves artists, while not knowing what art is. How can a watch be a piece of art, a painting can, literature work can, philosophical tractate can, but a watch- never, never.

Nothing like watching the heart of the watch work. This is the way to show it off!
Indeed. So much cooler than a tourbillion for sure!

Excellent review of the Ulysse Nardin. It is good to know that you cover many brands even when the watches are not your style. Very, very good video.
I came to see the price and I found out that it's not for me! 😂
Damn, yeah i cane understand that.
@@vetle12 It's 70 000.00$
Freak X is a lighter version of this which you can find for 13-15k
That's hilarious!!!😂😂😢
Come on, you can make some cuts😅
Very beautiful watch very unusual like all freak series I like it ❤❤❤❤
OMG... this watch is incredibly cool. Brilliant!
One of my favourite watches of all time along with THE Zenith el primero and Rolex datejust Wimbledon
Excellent content. Makes me appreciate a watch that I would never have. Thank you Teddy.
Love this watch, I have held a few and they are just so cool to look at.
This watch is cool. I loved the colour combo 👌.
Teddy, please make watch collection/ watch ad reaction videos too 😍.
Reaction videos are cringe.
@@Wootguy238 But its fun to add few in the Channel 😃

Have you ever done a profile of the watch that Zenith created some years back, that utilized a silicon device to simplify the escapement?
The innovative push this watch lends other manufacturers hopefully benefits buyers in general in terms of unique offerings.
That’s the main point… love it or hate it you have to admit that is
1) Very clever
2) Innovative
3) 1+2= Really cool
I like it. I wouldn't buy it, but I like it. The most compelling feature is setting the time.
Incredible Watch from an amazing brand….i love my Diver X Cape Horn….just feels unique having an UN on the whrist….thanks for the video
Great review, thanks Teddy. Loved the watch for years, but alas don't have the bank account balance to own one yet

ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ... EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!!! If I had the $$$, I would have already owned one.
Great episode Teddy 👍🏼 Wish to see more insane watches reviewed by you.

I'd love to see your take on Konstantin Chaykin's unusual watches.
I love this so much
I enjoy learning thank you

I don’t suppose Timex, Citizen or Seiko would make something like this for under $1,000?😂
not on that level but I'm sure there are some chinese watches who will be something like this.. I mean you can buy a real Tourbillon for 500 euros.
I like to see New and innovative watches. But can’t see myself buying. Thanks Teddy
Could you do a video about tritium (or overall backlit) watches?
Freak is simply genius watch
I was on your website the other day was just about to check out with a dozen of your Seiko Watches only to find out ya don’t post to Australia guess I take my twenty thousand Aussie dollars else where c ya teddy
Hope you do a video on hyt watch or devon timebelt watches
I love the freak, I'd probably prefer having a crown though
Great review , but can U maybe made video about your watches collection, I know that u maybe dont like that but, it will be cool that we all see all your watches u have, I know that U made before videos about collection but some new in 2023 updated will be great, :) thx
I like it. Tho not the $70k price tag. If there were a modern version without the silicon and hefty price tag, I'd be thinking about it.
I found it my Watch for life.. My nickname always be "Freakie" just like this watch. heheheh
I love this watch.
I wish there were more quality affordable watches showed the mechanism on the dial side. I really want to see the gears moving and the balance wheel whirling away.
Xeric has some offerings. I own all their vendetta models
I love the look of it but I'll have to find a broken one at a yard sale 10yrs from now to be able to afford one
Damn, now I really want a freak. A lot.

No mention of Ludwig Oechslin? Wasn't he responsible for the design of the Freak? The movement, anyway?
It looks very modern considering in 2001 we were all wearing jncos, listening to Britney Spears and people un ironically still had a beeper.
I want one!
Am I the only one in the world that thinks the freak actually looks kinda great? 😅
This watch is Rick James
It's Super Freak
This watch looks like yacht's compass for me.
Stunning watch. In my top 3 watches.
Hallo Teddy, it is for sure interesting and clever, but for me to much going on, makes me dizzy. All do I like to see what the brand comes up with and it's geniuses. Thanks from Switzerland 🇨🇭, rachel
The Freak S Nomad looks a little better imo.

nice shirt
I was going to buy one, but it doesn't have a second hand. I guess Ican keep the house.
For the price of this watch this should have the durability of a G-Shock. It seems the more expensive a watch is, the more fragile it is.
I know where my next bonus is going
Would definitely be into it if it wasn't for the price🥵
Wow...
Teddy could you add a feature on your site to disable price? I find it so hard to look for a watch and not first look at its price.
It doesn't hack?
Unbelievable watch… price is high, but so is the value for money..
Do. Want.
It is too big for my thin wrist and has no second hand :(
I don't know, if you like yachts go to Monaco.
Please do a list of affordable Oyster Perpetual alternatives. If you can include colorful dials even better.
want
I like everything apart from the name
The UN Freak is for the rich playboy who’s bored with collecting all other conventional watches.
The Freak is very interesting, just not for me

Sir good evening. I have a Rolex her in philipines. The name of my Rolex is oyster perpetual datejust

If this were 38mm I'd definitely buy it
Miller Laura Jackson Betty Anderson Kimberly
That price may better off buying rolex daytona
You called the brand UN... christ whats wrong with you ?
Hate it. But it is amazing. Will never buy.
For people who have everything, except good taste👎🏿

I appreciate the horology but the aesthetic for me is a no
Beautifully ugly!
troppo piccolo di diametro...per polsi da donna va bene
wow the freak is phallic 🫣
I love it when it's "specialty day" at Teddy 🫡
