Just few practical comments: 1. When you do age uge with back step why dont you put you other hand in front for as a general protectant. We are taught never to have empty space of hours bodies so the other hand is "always" there to cover. 2. In Shoto uke its totally useless to raise your blocking hand so high when chambering the block, the fist should be much closer to the shoulder. In uzi uge you put the other hand to the front as a general protectant just as it should be. In my opinion you should do that also in age uke. Also some other points and I know these things are taught differently in different clubs. Our club focuses more on practical use of kihon, but dont get me wrong, we practise a lot of kihon but cut of those totally useless and actually harmful techniques some schools teach. Just my too cents. Im sure your karate is just fine and you dont fight like that of course.
