  • Accidentally acquired a behringer 914 fixed filter bank, and am exploring it’s potential in sculpting feedback.
The first thing I discovered was the behaviour of the ‘two’ inputs. The inputs are basically a multiple of each other, so aren’t very useful in terms of adding the output signal back to the input to add feedback or more resonance.
Using a mixer proved much more effective. I found I needed to multiply the gain of the output about 2 1/2 times to get to the verge of self oscillation.
This patch uses the envelope out from 0Ctrl to ping the B914, first with no feedback, then adding feedback in by opening VCAs.
Then I use one sequencer row of the 0ctrl to open one of the VCAs, creating accents.
Next is using an oscillator to AM one of the VCAs, the oscillator is being pitched by 0 ctrl to create different timbres. When the high pass is increased, some extreme results ensue.
Finally, a cycling channel of maths is added, also pitched by 0 ctrl. This is used to AM the envelope which is pinging the filter bank, creating further interesting texture.
Changing the amplitude of the different bands provides some very interesting percussive effects.
No delay, reverb, or other processing.
