What does home sound like?
Frog one knob exploration
Exploring the world within a turn of a single knob of the Frog.
Mix out is patched to S&H in, oscillator 1 rate is slowly increased from min to max. Some spring reverb. Speakers to iPhone mic, no processing.
Frog is an analog electronic instrument, presented an in a semimodular eurorack module.
There are several other knobs, and switches, which are also fun to play with.
There are a couple for sale here:

Frog sounds
Переглядів 1462 місяці тому
Some sounds from ‘Frog’, a “lively” semi-modular electronic instrument. Frog features: Two oscillators One sample and hold One multi-mode filter These are all a bit different, and intermingled in a manner that creates a generative organism that loves to be played with. Dry (no effects) and no post editing of the sound (no normalisation or compression other than UA-cam’s own). mxrf.etsy.com/list...
Flight of Harmony Facehugger prototype sequencing demo

Flight of Harmony’s upcoming Facehugger module. This module ‘does a lot’, an arbitrary function generator for eurorack, with tonnes of control and playability. Gate outs are available on the rear of the module, so is the ramp output, state, and end of cycle logic, using a little expander to tap these to more fully explore how enjoyably playable Facehugger is as a sequencer, and it’s wonderful r...

This wonderful instrument is a joy to play and filled with delightful areas. Audio on iPad mic through little homemade amp, but hopefully still captures some of the joy of exploring the EIMTO. #noise #synth #electronicmusic #synthesizer

Square wave into in, a fast sine wave LFO to CV, spring reverb, compression. Spring reverb wet mix is increased at the start of the video, all tweaking otherwise is on VMMF. www.etsy.com/au/listing/1669822421/vmmf-quirky-eurorack-state-variable?ref=listings_manager_grid
VMMF filter demo jam
Переглядів 153Рік тому
A bit of noodling on the VMMF. A square wave into the VMMF, taking the Low and Mix outputs and mixing portions of them to left and right to create a stereo image. The middle of this is sent to a spring reverb, spring before the VCA to create a gated reverb effect for clarity and snappiness. The two sides go into the big Doepfer phaser, and kick drum from Plaits is mixed in via phaser feedback i...

PQ in feedback loop with Doepfer spring reverb. The Deopfer spring reverb is beautiful as a feedback source. Changing the levels and Q factor of each band allows for dramatically and subtle shifts and some lovely sounds. www.etsy.com/au/listing/1615750324/pq-pingable-eq-distortion-eurorack-synth

Most excellent!!
Excellent work!
Hey, very nice sounds and I love the wood cheeks! May I ask how clean the oscillators sound with modulation and disjunktion turned all the way down? On my unit (that I did not build myself) there is noticable amount of "wrongling" present at all times. I was wondering if that's the case with all EIMTOs. I still love it, but it would be great if I could get clean 158 style cross fm tones.
Thanks! The cheeks made it feel ‘complete’ to me 😊. There’s a little bit of noise from them, but can be fairly clean. There’s a capacitor that is recommended to reduce it, and I think I recall a comment somewhere that the amount of noise depended a fair bit on the power supply. Mine is quite minor so if yours is very apparent could be worth trying one of those things?
@@mxrobertfrost I've been thinking about cheeks or a wood enclosure. It suits the EIMTO really well. Thanks for the tipps!
@@jjlauxetti1108I used quite heavy wood, so my EIMTO feels as heavy as it looked like it should to me 😂 such a beautiful tank of an instrument.
looks awesome, thanks
Fun!
turn it up
Which it 😂😂 🎛️🎛️🎛️
the voice audio is hard to make out
Apologies, I have definitely been known to mumble! The transcript is reasonable accurate if you turn subtitles on. ✌️
Excellent!
Love it.... should be released on cassette!!!
🤯 insane
@@maydonpoliris yeah, it’s a great instrument!!!
Sounds great! How difficult was the build?
It sounds so good, it’s an incredibly flexible and inspiring instrument. The build is mostly wiring, which personally I don’t really “enjoy”, but not hard. Good to use coloured wire to keep everything a bit simpler for the brain. You may need to snip a leg on the audio out jack.
I love this module. It’s on my short list for sure.
🎉 Thanks! Really appreciate the feedback! Pun intended.

Awesome demo/performance 💥 Love this module 🤩👏⚡️
🙏 Thanks Todd!
Finally someone that plays this not just a s a dry, chaotic noisebox, but actually tries to play it like an instrument. Really interesting sounds. Thank you :)
Thanks! It’s definitely an inspiring instrument. The ‘chaos’ in it falls into repeating patterns, and the slider for it sort of works like a three position switch (with extra glitchy zones on the cusps), this definitely also allows you to find and move between different repeating gestures. It’s learnable, too, you can get to know it and anticipate where abouts it’s going to go. It’s a pleasure to play / play with and quite versatile.
@@mxrobertfrost Ah, so the chaos is not actually chaos? Hmm, disappointing.
@@GeirOpdal - I might be wrong about what the circuit is doing, it’s ‘chaotic’ but depending on how you use it you can get something like patterns. Per manual “Chaos Modulation outputs a pseudo-random, stepped CV” - I think it is a sample and hold and you can adjust its source. Since you’re also able to modulate everything, (including whatever it’s sampling, and the frequency at which it samples) it can be very chaotic, or feel a bit more like patterns. The manual and block diagram are a bit oblique about it, so I’m going off feel. In my opinion it’s a more playable option than say feeding a S&H noise, but plenty chaotic.
@@mxrobertfrost Ok. I dont know enough about these things to really know. It can still be a cool option though it it can also sound truely random I hope you will put out more videos with it. And bring on the effects aswell. There are too little demoes of instruments like this that uses efx and filters. And too few have understood what you so obviously have understood and does well; "chaos" instruments need subtle movement of pots and sliders.
This is what's up.
Thanks!
Feels like it has the same scary magic as the f(h) plague bearer - true "don't use headphones" energy.
Some might say worth the hearing damage? f(h) parasite is like that too, sudden spikes from hell, love it. Yay compressors!
Fuck yeah
ok thats really cool! great vid!
Thanks!!
Nice build & aesthetic!
Thanks!
beautiful performance, really beautiful
Thanks! It’s a lovely instrument!

Well…what a difference a nano move makes 🤩
Gotta boop it! Applies to feedback patches and cat’s noses! 😸
P r o m o s m 🙃
Are the pitches quantized? Thought i heard a non 12/octave pitch or two in there
Yes, didn’t try to trouble shoot that, using stages to quantise, not sure what the cause was. Hope it wasn’t too distracting.
(Oscillator not really tuned either😅)
Not at all i like non standard tunings sounded a little like the persian saz scale w four quartertones dropped into a western 12/octave
@@lorensteele2962 have you watched Meng Qi’s video ‘What a Synthesizer Designer learned from a Neuroscientist?’, for some reason this conversation brings that video to mind. Worth checking out if you haven’t!

Wow! What a spectacular sonic journey💥🚀
Brutal!! That MF lives up to its name. And you play is so sweetly. thanks.
Thanks for this!!! Parasite in the feedback path of sound of shadows definitely also adding a bunch of crunch here!!

I may have gone too far! 🤣🎛️🎛️🎛️
@@mxrobertfrost never too far, no limits 😄
😆👌💚
send and return Jacks, couldn´t be used together?
Yes! You can absolutely take a signal from the send, run it through external processing and bring it back in to Shakti through the return. For the majority of patches that’s the approach you would use. This patch was an experiment of using a different external signal into the return to use Shakti to see how it worked as a processor / effect module.
Like tears in rain
Thanks! Yes, the resonant low pass gates really make it sound quite watery! 🥲🌦️
@@mxrobertfrost Not to mention Blade Runner esque :)
@@sandubogi 🙏 - There’s external cv over the pitch too, haven’t poked around for demos of the euro one, but also imagine using it with an external vca you could make some really wonderful synth voices…particularly stacking the two outputs….lots more to explore here…
@@mxrobertfrost I'm sold! It's arriving Tuesday. The only other consideration was the Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder. But I find this more unique and interesting.
@@sandubogi ooh, difficult to decide between!! If it’s the euro duos you’re getting, be interested to see how you go with it. I got an angle grinder a couple of months back! It’s very interesting as well, Duos is definitely more of a stand-alone instrument / control voltage source, and angle grinder an oscillator / processor. Hikari have been posting some great Duos videos with beads on Instagram too, if you haven’t seen those and want more inspiration!
Fantastic!
Thanks! It’s a delightful synth to explore!
I see we both have good taste in noise modules ;).
Ha! You have the good taste, I saw it on your Instagram and it went from there… ;)
This is great, mind if we link to it on our Thonk product page?

Lovely drone demo of the Duos here:) Cheers!
Wow! Gnarly, glitchy 💥

Something wrong with your scope? The left side is wiggling all over the place.
Looks like the left section is not tracking as well as the rest. Should probably try shifting the waveform to see if that helps. Hope you didn’t find it too distracting! 〰️
its nice
It is strong with this one.
Thanks! I’ve been really enjoying exploring the Doepfer a-101-3 as an overdrive/distortion, it’s really beautiful.
KNEADZ SEW BADDD
It’s very strange, you definitely do.
Dang! Gritty, gnarly and jammin’
Thanks Todd! Hard to limit the recording to being this short!! Seems to keep going through new interesting variations, but there’s other patches that need to be explored!
