The final match was shot over 4 days with real crowd.. And SRK offered to pull to the crowd using his name saying they can come to see him.. And it was houseful all the days.. Nd outside of the actual shoot he came nd kept the crowd entertained in between shots and he clicked pics nd gave autographs to as many as possible... He's such a sweetheart!!! And the most hard working actor!! Ppl alll over the world love him for a reason! ❤

The film was almost not going to be made. The director/producer had met the real women of the hockey team and understood their issues and he wanted to make sure it was heard by the world and so it was made finally. This movie came out such long ago but still gets you the feels. SRK is just 🤌🏻

The movie Chak de is a perfect combination of Nationalism and Female enpowerment. Each of the girls and Badshah himself gave a great performance. The cherry on the cake is the beautiful " Chak De" song sung by the goliath Sukhi Paaji....

Field Hockey used to be played on grass but now (and in this movie) it is played on astro turf. I used to think that astro turf heats up and so needs to be watered down but then I googled and found the following:
Watered pitches are safe surfaces, as the water layer absorbs impact better than a sand-filled pitch does. A watered pitch also gives players the ability to control their slides.
Falls on these surfaces are less likely to leave players with abrasion injuries to their skin, as the surface of watered pitches is softer and cooler to play on.
Hockey balls move at a consistent speed on watered surfaces as the grass blades form a denser, faster surface without sand infill.
A faster, more responsive style of play develops on a water pitch, with a ball that runs more freely than it does on sand, where it can become sticky during the game.
Players find their sticks last longer on wet turfs, without being worn by friction on sand, reducing the cost of replacing sticks.
The ball bounces consistently on the denser watered grass surface and at an appropriate height, compared with the ball bounce produced on a dry pitch.
TigerTurf watered hockey pitches give players a supportive, consistent grip for good traction, without causing twisted ankles and knees.
Sand infill is not required.

Cricket started dominating from 1983 when kapil dev and team won first wc for india and after that in 1989 sachin tendulkar debuted and from that time indian cricket went to peak but hockey diminished due to lack of funding india wonnlast gold in hockey was in 1973 and last wc in 2011 in cricket
It's called astroturf (surface of hockey field) to keep it cool water used.

Wow, Miguel is a gem and is the biggest differentiator in what your channel does and what others do when it comes to doing movie reviews. His understanding of the context and premise of a story before the story unfolds itself is just outstanding and better than we ourselves could understand. His way of expressing and moist eyes tell a totally different story of his own experiences in life and how he associates those with the scenes in movies. About Coward confusion in the cricket bat scene at McDonalds. What SRK said was that we don't have chhakke (six) in hockey. Chhakke also refer to the transgender people who usualy offer dance and blessings on auspicious occasions like new home, new baby etc. in our neighborhood.
Its more absurd after knowing this. But that is what filmmakers thought would offer more swag.

If you have loved this movie then you will definitely love 1983. Huge underdogs, Team bonds, Facing giants of that time that is west indies. This movie has taken all its inspiration from 1983. That is a true story. Take your time but I will be waiting for that reaction. And loving both of your reactions... Miguel seem so invested in the movies and I love that about him.. And your perspective helps him a lot as you know Hindi so well.

Carry the good work ❤ Btw speaking of Field Hockey and wet field it is watered with sprinklers to make the ball roll fast on Astro Turf that replaced the grass in 1980's. Indian Men's Hockey Team is the most successful team in Olympics having won 8 Gold Medals including beating Nazi Germany 8-1 in Berlin in front of Hitler who being impressed with the then captain Dhyanchand offered him Corporal rank. India also defeated USA 32-0 under the same man. 2020 the men's team won Bronze after 4 decades.

I watched this movie in the movie theatre and it really did feel as if I was sitting in the audience of an actual hockey stadium. Everyone was responding like that. There was even more excitement because I had just that day received the news that I had won a scholarship. Lol. The high I felt... I can't describe 😂
Hokey has been played on the artificial turf made up of polythene fibre. That's why water is sprayed to reduce friction. It makes the game fast.

Cricket is kind of looked down in India by people who follow, Hockey, Football and Athletics. It receives way more attention and funding than all three disciplines combined. There's a reason why a country with almost 2 billion people fail to excel in any other sport. The grassroot infrastructure just isn't there. I'm Glad you are bringing attention/viewers to this fact.

The hockey ground has Astro turf instead of grass thats why they water every half time.
In field hockey they make it wet.... because in modern hockey is played on turf..... it slow down the pace of the ball...... Otherwise no one gonna handle or chase the ball.....

In hockey , that was not real grass , it was artificial green turf and it needed water. In 1960's hockey was played in real grass like football and india dominated the sport.. and then they shifted to turf. And after 2012 insted of green They Use blue turf because boll visibility is more in blue colour. Rest is hockey is 11 vs 11 team sport like football and hockey doesn't have offside rule .

The ball is solid and heavy so the water makes it glid long distance with a spin and also making the ball a bit safe for the players... But players does need protection while playing. And the rules are same as European football. But with some ball specific changes like on the hight of ball can be pulled off ground.. And panelty fouls. It is a 70 min game. And bat is needed to guide rhe ball, as same reason ball is solid and heavy. Hope you got some idea on hockey.
Water controls speed of ball plus it sticks ball on ground, otherwise speed would be unmanageable.

Josh bhai. Have you not noticed in Bollywood movies they explain everything in detail unlike Hollywood movies. Usually they do not explain the rules and stats in the commentary but in recent sports movie they had done it so as to give a very informed, holistic experience. Not only in sports in military movies as well they explain the strategy, context, all round story. Basically, you don't need to know the rules to understand this movie. Wait till you watch Lagaan which covered almost everything that can happen in cricket.
