It's only inspired bro. This movie has no direct relation with that, it's an independent fictional movie. No doubt it's one of the greatest sports movies ever made in India (definitely the best for me). Every good movie doesn't have to be based on a real event, sometimes got to appreciate a movie as it's own.

1:28 SRK was a national level football & hockey player in his college days. He was also a brilliant cricket player. During a football game, he got seriously injured which made him bed-ridden for 6 months or something. It was during that time that he went for theatre classes because there used to be a lot of women there. Rest is history 😂😂
A lot of people like shahrukh because of his romantic films but I feel that this film is one of the best he has done. His performance was remarkable and all the other artists were so natural❤
