This hexagonal design is being used to create light but strong materials which can expand and shrink when needed. There is probably some UA-cam videos from some Canadian researchers.

Sir,geometric patterns are abstract line drawings starting with circle,triangle,square,pentagon,hexagon(most common), septagon,
octagon(jannat perimeter),with flower,and leaves design.
In islam these patterns replace human idols which are more common in non islamic religions
other than judaism.
In fact goes a step further by making a hollow cuboid as its object of worship.
