    I had a CX9 since 2008, the only reason I let it go is because I moved to Canada... Yet, yesterday I bought the 2016 signature
    my reasons are simple: though I'm no car guru.. but I know that for 8 years (2008 - 2016) nothing went wrong in that car , noting that it was shipped between 2 countries both of harsh weather and I put some serious mileage on that car throughout those 8 years.
    I hope I won't regret that, especially that the CX9 signature is loaded with new technologies for safety , which can the car extremely delicate

      Yes totally agree with your comment...has won car of the year in Australia and won 2017 car of the year in Motoring TV in Canada and rated the Best midsize SUV by Car and Driver in the US...unfortunately only came in a very close 2nd to the Chrysler Pacifica that won SUV of the year in the annual Motor Trend awards but am still glad as these accolades have validated my recent purchase of the 2017 Signature trim

    I agree Tom that for a small company Mazda did a great job with this second gen CX-9, even though it lacks some features that isn't a big deal breaker at all.
    The only thing that I really wanted they did to this Signature trim is replaced all the metal-like parts with the real wood veneer or did a combination of both consistently not just selected ones, but I guess they have a target market price for it so they downsize a bit, it's just me. Still, it is a steal for an entry premium full-size SUV. Great video Tom as always.😊

    Thanks for a nice review. Design is classleading indeed. The driving dynamics which is highlighted by the low end torque is what really needed by majority of the drivers but was not properly done by manufacturers because of the fear on the notion that horsepower sells. Well done Mazda.

    my dad has a miata, his second (i know you have a 1st gen). back around '80, i wanted an RX-2 or RX-3. i prefer smaller cars, had a Metro for 10 years, 8-1/2 years on my smart now. the smart is getting big on me! i had an MB C300 as a loaner last year when my smart was in the shop, loved it and hated it! great on the highways, not impressed on local roads.

      FastRedPonyCar from what I read, Jeeps have pretty bad reliability issues. Research on that before getting one.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 7 років тому

      unless there are recalls on things, it's hard to base the reliability thing on internet comments or other social media. I had an accord that had all kinds of problems but a mustang GT that I beat the snot out of and that thing was bullet proof. we used to have a 98 volvo S70 T5 and it was also trouble free for the 8 years I owned it but our 99 S70 T5 has had everything that CAN break, break.
      We have several friends with new jeeps and they all love them and some are on their 2nd or 3rd grand cherokee. That said, I believe that the styling of the CX9 is going to win us over at the end of the day.

    Here in Europe we have standard gas at 95 octane the premium fuel is 100 octane. Can someone tell me how much hp this Mazda makes over there.

    • @Xaluber
      @Xaluber 8 років тому

      Your octane ratings are not the same as ours. In the US we use AKI while in Europe, RON is used. 93 AKI premium fuel here = 97.4 RON. Your 100 RON fuel might get a few extra horsepower or it might not. It depends on how the ECU is tuned and whether or not it'll increase boost pressure for fuels above 93 AKI.

    Turbo or not, a 4 cylinder engine in this size auto is just not for me. I like the smoothness of a six cylinder, not to mention the engine does not have to be beat to get it going. Yes, it probably gets some better mileage with the 4 cylinder, but really, who cares? If you are going to pay 45 thousand plus dollars for an auto, then a little less mileage should not bother you much. Put a 6 in it, an I will go for it!

      Every car will have a turbo four in them. They produce the same amount of power as a v6 if not more and it's better gas mileage. Diesel is better but thanks to VW, everyone is scared now.

    I wanted to trade-up from my CX-5 , and looked at one of these in Grand
    Touring trim. No pano roof. No vented seats. No heated rear seats. No
    heated steering wheel. No 360 camera. Cheep plastic covered sun
    visors. Wide center console cuts into legroom. Cargo space much
    smaller than the rest of the class. Apparently I'm not the only one
    with these gripes, because CX-9 sales have been a huge disappointment
    for Mazda. I ended up going with a '17 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T and
    could not be happier.

  • @TinLeadHammer
    @TinLeadHammer 7 років тому

    I do not like the direction Mazda is going. This new gen CX-9 looks more like Infiniti FX in proportions - long flat hood, narrow headlights. Frankly, the Infiniti looks better to me, Mazda should not have tried. Ultimately I do not care much about the CX-9, I am more saddened about the ruined look of the new CX-5.
