Thank you! I enjoy coloring pumpkins they resonate of earthiness and I like that a lot ...I appreciate pumpkins in form, color and as a food. I am the same way when choosing a page. I use the item focus of interest first most all the time and then carry that through as a theme when choosing colors. I don't think I would use color cards I do have a nice book that does have theme colors but i rarely if ever use it I more let my thoughts take me to the colors in terms of "seeing". Sometimes I look up color palettes online like say orange and pink, etc.
These are by far some of my favorite videos because picking colors and all are one of the more difficult things for me. Thank you for breaking your process down and making it so easy for everyone to understand like you did. This has definitely given me the courage to just take a chance and break out my norm of using certain colors I tend to lean to bc they are my more favorite. Great video and can’t wait to see what you have in store in the future. Best wishes to you and your family❤️❤️
Oh no problem. I hope it helps. You can always start a page by using your favorite/preferred colors and branching from there. There is no right/wrong way to start a page.
Hello Kori. My name is Mocha. I just started adult coloring earlier this year. I have been following you for a few months now. I love all your videos. Your voice is soothing to me, and I love your teaching skills. I am having problems starting a page and what colors to use. This video is excellent. I feel more competent in starting my own page instead of just following color alongs. Which I do enjoy. But, it is great to learn things for myself. 😊 Oh yeah, I have been watching your videos in the Hannah Lynn books. I have several of them. The girls are so cute. I love the hair colors that you do. I will be using your colors and techniques. I love blue and red hair. Xoxo
Crazy! This comment was one of the ones that YT deleted, but it has reappeared today. So apologies for my delayed reply lol. Hey, if you don't like swatching, don't. I know a lot of people that don't and do just fine. But I mean yeah, always do what makes you happy :)
Very helpful video. And it’s perfectly timed for me, because I’ve been stuck on choosing a new page and colors. I really appreciate you walking through the thought process. I’m going to try both methods.
Hi, I'm really glad that you made this video..I'm using the same technique as you are without the catalogue and I do all of the other things too, like how you pick a picture..I love experimenting with colors and with this technique i's like reading a story.. you don't know, where you end up because you don't pick all the colors at the start..thumbs up for this video:))
Awe thank you. Yeah, sometimes it is fun to just wing it. See how it develops. I know that approach can stress people out too though, so it is definitely one of those where you only do so if you feel like it. The catalog definitely helps when you're struggling to find colors that do or do not go together, but of course, you can always just find free palettes on Pinterest and match colors to it.
Ok I watched this one purely because you made it and I like your videos. I didn't expect to get much from it. I am not a color theory snob... .but I did study art quite a bit and didn't expect a whole lot. I was wrong!! I learned quite a bit, and I certainly won't be so quick to assume anything in the future. I enjoyed hearing you talk about your process, we are fairly similar in our process, and I still learned from you. Thanks 😊
Oh I am so happy it helped. I don't often play with color theory, but I mean really, if you think about it, there are so many different ways to play with the color wheel that you can honestly just do whatever you want. The less you think it over, the better it looks IMO
I've been coloring a few yrs and watched a video where someone mentioned they always pre-plan a pg and I'm like how? I never see a pg colored in my head before I start. I was like am I doing it wrong? lol It was cool to see your process is similar to mine just start with 1 thing and let it evolve :) I know I'm unique bc the only pencils out of my case are ones I need for 1 thing on pg then I put away and pull out ones to color something else on pg. To make it cohesive I usually match color families rather than use same pencils. I bet no 2 colorists color same way :)
Yes! No two are alike, but that's the fun of it :). We are all so unique in our approach to picking pages, pencils, and color schemes and it is so fun to learn how each person does it.
Thanks for the in depth explanations! Its so helpful to hear your thought process & see these things as a beginner. I'm still deciding if Im going to get the color cataloges. I think I need the help!! Thanks again
It is totally helpful, but there are free palettes on Pinterest you can always use too - so if you are not ready to spend that, look on Pinterest for ideas!
Hello thank you so much for this video I am new to your channel I stumbled upon it because I was serching up coloring for beginners. Do you have any links to any videos that you show the actual coloring??
lol, yeah me too. If I went to all that trouble to select colours, I'd never get anything coloured! I have a husband depending on me for help at random times 24/7, so I have limited time to colour my books, and it is a matter of choosing a tin/brand of pencil or marker, selecting some colours and go for it.
This video was SO helpful and inspiring! I think I've been limiting myself too much with premade palettes. I can't wait to try some of the techniques for broadening a palette that you mention!
Thank you for great ideas! Its seems to to be easy to repeat it, I will do my best, thank you for ideas) Or I will try to make for my son something my own in such technique, thank you
Hi Kori! Great video! I have been on the fence about the Color Catalogue, I see it as is a compact “Pinterest” of sorts, however with the color companion, it might actually be useful. I will have to revisit how that works. I don’t ever plan a palette, however I think I need to start using one to eliminate the stress of what color to use next and not have the unbalanced, strambotic or monochromatic pages I usually end up creating.
You definitely don't have to get the color catalog by any means! You can take them off Pinterest. The companion, however, is amazing. Also, I do love that you can search by colors, keywords, etc. I mean they are funny. If you are in a dark mood you can look up keywords like "moody" lol. But, please never feel you have to pay all that money for something. I just finally bought it because I wanted to try it, and it did help when sometimes you just cannot figure out what you want to do.
Thanks for doing this, it's really helpful to see the process. I 'Need' order and logic in my life & so I have to have most of my colours worked out before I start a page but I sometimes envy those who just choose as they go. If you ever have time could you make a video on how you use your creative companion 2021? :)
Oh the Ruby Charms Creative Companion? Yeah I could try to do a video using that. I've been fairly lazy with it as of late lol. I mean there is no right or wrong way to start a page. I'll be honest, I envy those with the colors already planned! You have half the work done haha. Sometimes, I get hung up on where to go next.
Long time no watch! Social media break for mental health ♥️. A perfect video to comeback to🥰 This also brought me back to the first video I saw from you. When you used bruts on romantic country two especially the wood grain😂😂.
Thanks for sharing your thought process! Very informative. I too thought my pallet was a waste of money but after watching you and how you use it as a jumping point, I think I can do the same. Thanks again : )
So, in your process, you choose a focal point to start with. It can be whatever catches your eye. I do much the same thing. Random color selection is my process. I find it much more important to limit my pallet to a few strong colors and make them balanced throughout the project. I am by no means as skilled as you are, and limit myself to colored pencils and markers.
Yeah, my favorite way is to just look at what draws me to the page and I roll with it. I find that the easiest way, but sometimes it turns into a crazy/complicated palette hahaha
This is great, thanks Kori. I’d be lost without my colour catalog. This video has made me a feel a bit more confident when I use it next. Thanks again. Stay safe and Happy Colours, Sara 🐨💕
Wow das war ein hilfreiches Video! Sowas habe ich gebraucht um von anfang an zu sehen wie ich richtig auswähle. Danke!

I have trouble choosing my colors too! Sometimes I feel like I spend more time choosing colors than actually coloring lol!
This FINALLY makes sense to me. Thank you so much for making this video!
You're so welcome!💜

Of course!
interesting to see your thought process
Thank you my dear!
Love how “practical” and “down to earth” you are! TY!
Awe thank you.
What a great planning review. I appreciate you taking the time to go through your process
Glad it was helpful! 💜
So much good information for a newbie! This helps a ton.
Oh I'm so glad you found this helpful my dear!
This video has been an eye-opener for me! I'm finally going to swatch all of my pencils and jettison my willy-nilly ways.
Crazy! This comment was one of the ones that YT deleted, but it has reappeared today. So apologies for my delayed reply lol. Hey, if you don't like swatching, don't. I know a lot of people that don't and do just fine. But I mean yeah, always do what makes you happy :)
Brilliant Kori, very nicely done. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you - hope it helps.

Oh I'm so happy you find this just in time then! Nothing worse than looking at a blank page and thinking OMG where do I start.

Fantastic Information on starting a Page! Food For Thought 🤔💜😊
Glad it was helpful!
I love , love it, thanks
Glad you like it! Thank you so very much for watching.
I bought the color catalog and did not love my first experience with it. You are exactly right, it is only a jumping off point.
Yeah you do need to expand so you aren't stuck with a small palette
Super helpful for my coloring, A big Thank you!,
Awe no problem at all!
Very helpful, thank you for sharing.
No problem at all - I do hope it was helpful.
Very helpful, thanks!

This was so helpful! I’ve been loving binging your back catalogue! 🤗🤗🤗
Oh thank you!

This is great, I love watching other people's process.
Thank you Sonya. I hope it gave you some ideas for getting started.
Very helpful. I like your method. It's much more simple and doesn't take as long...Excellent video Kori! Thanks very much! 🧡
Awe thank you Valerie. I do hope it helped you.
Hello thank you so much for this video I am new to your channel I stumbled upon it because I was serching up coloring for beginners. Do you have any links to any videos that you show the actual coloring??
Yes, just go to my playlists and look at my adult coloring tutorials.
Thanks for all the info Kori, that was a lot of work. I think I am more of a ‘seat of the pants’ type person. 😄 Take care. 💜
Haha hey nothing wrong with flying by the seat of your pants - makes it unpredictable and fun.
lol, yeah me too. If I went to all that trouble to select colours, I'd never get anything coloured! Thank you Eileen.

Premade palettes are totally okay! Just find a way to comfortably add to them.
Congratulations !!! I am not THAT ORGANIZED, but oh, man… You are awesome! Tânia Mello from São Paulo, Brazil !
Awe thank you. Hopefully it at least helps you jumpstart your pages :)
Great Info!!! Thanks Kori!!! I look forward to seeing the finished product!!! 🥰
Awe thank you my dear. You are too kind.
Thank you for great ideas! Its seems to to be easy to repeat it, I will do my best, thank you for ideas) Or I will try to make for my son something my own in such technique, thank you

Thank you Jaimie.
I'm going to search your channel for the colored/completed page; I hope you used Blue/Burgundy for the bears!!! 🐻
It was so interesting seeing how you start. It’s way different to me but Iv learnt some tricks to help in the future thank you! 💓💓
Oh we all do it so differently, and it is fun to watch how people start their pages to add ideas to our list for sure! What method do you use?
Thanks for doing this, it's really helpful to see the process. Were did you get the book tryed on Amazon and can’t get it xx 😘
Her books are only on Etsy. If you plan to buy them, I'd buy a few otherwise that shipping just isn't worth it. At least not to the US
Long time no watch! Social media break for mental health ♥️. A perfect video to comeback to🥰
This also brought me back to the first video I saw from you. When you used bruts on romantic country two especially the wood grain😂😂.
Welcome back Emily!! Missed you :).
Thanks for sharing your thought process! Very informative. I too thought my pallet was a waste of money but after watching you and how you use it as a jumping point, I think I can do the same. Thanks again : )
Oh yeah, there are so many ways to use that color catalog just to get you started and you don't have to stick to solo colors either.
So, in your process, you choose a focal point to start with. It can be whatever catches your eye. I do much the same thing. Random color selection is my process. I find it much more important to limit my pallet to a few strong colors and make them balanced throughout the project.

Klara is coming out with a new book in April
Oh. My. Goodness. That will hurt on shipping lol
@@ColorfullyOptimistic yeah always almost 100 per book altogether
@@randomstuffaustralia4074 that hurts lol. Think it will cook and do dishes for that price? 🤔
@@ColorfullyOptimistic haha 😄
This is great, thanks Kori. I’d be lost without my colour catalog. This video has made me a feel a bit more confident when I use it next. Thanks again. Stay safe and Happy Colours, Sara 🐨💕
I'm so glad! Hey that color catalog helps me a lot when I'm stuck. I may branch out, sometimes I don't use it, but it's a handy tool.
I don't pre plan I just swatch and use colours as I go. I"m a beginner and a rebel I like to do everything my own way 😂.
Nothing wrong with that at all. This video was simply for those who need help planning a page :)
Благодарю!
Step 2 is too complicated for me, I’m a beginner
Can you be more specific? You mean method 2?
