I had never even thought about colouring until I was ill and a friend sent me a colouring book and pens. I started to use the book and I really got the bug. I then bought some cheap colouring pencils and realised they weren't good enough after a while, so I bought some expensive ones which made a huge difference. Then I decided to try water colour pencils, which took me to water colour paints. Through that simple gift of a colouring book, I found my talent as an artist because after water colour paints I turned to acrylics and painting on canvasses. I always thought I couldn't paint because basically I was not that good at drawing. I found out that I didn't have to be good at drawing to paint and so my painting journey took off. My favourite thing to paint is flowers and I've been painting now since 2016. When I look at my first attempts and where I am now, I marvel at how much I have learned. I have learned everything via You Tube, from a few certain artists that teach how to paint with acrylics. People are often very surprised when I say that I learned everything from You Tube and have never had a proper art lesson in my life. My friend who bought that first colouring book didn't really know what she had unleashed LOL!

That's awesome!! That's why I tried to expose my kids to 'everything', lol... you never know where hidden talents/passions might be hiding. You sound like me with the 'turned into that... and that turned into that... and that...' 😂😂 congrats on the newfound artists career!! Great story... super inspiring!!

Coloring is definitely a great way to learn to be creative and practice basic art skills without the pressure of being an expert. There’s a lot you can learn on UA-cam and it doesn’t take much to make something amazing. It’s definitely not just for kids!

I do like that she listed so many different styles. I can't draw for squat but have always loved to color. I use a lot of Pinterest for inspiration on images I like and then follow those sources. The thing i like about pinterest is that when u select an image it gives u the option to open up to another outside source and their world or you have a list of similar choices narrowed down a bit more along with a few other categories listed down the side, if u scroll just a bit, so u can narrow it down some more if you'd like. You can quick save what you want for closer viewing, ect. I even love the new sub categories. And once you have a select few favorites it's then that i go looking for their youtube channels if they have them or their websites, Patreon, Instagram (I don't actually use Instagram but it's a popular one), and/or sometimes the ppl i follow have FB groups, too. Those sometimes yield more interesting results than one might think. Some are just fan groups. 🤷. And you can always see what inspires them by seeing whats in their pinterest folders. I like how interactive it can be without actually interacting.

    • @True_Joker
      @True_Joker 3 роки тому

Plus you can always just choose to print the image directly off of Pinterest, too. Swipe the color off and make your own coloring pages. Sometimes i do that. Or make embellishments from them for my journals or whatever I'm carting around at the moment

We all need to remember ourselves especially after this past year. Most of us have been stuck at home doing jobs that aren't on our resumes. Teachers, tech support, internet expert ect.. and doing normal things like cleaning, laundry, cooking more than we've ever had to do. Cooking dinner every night turned into 3 meals a day multiplied by 2 kids with different needs. It's easy to put ourselves as the very last priority.

Oh wow, that orb technique is awesome! The double pages can be overwhelming, working on just a circle at a time may make it less overwhelming. Even if you overlap a couple orbs and do something different for each circle to make it less monotonous. Thanks for the idea!

Same here. About four years ago I colored an owl perched on a branch for my young grandson and he begged me to frame it and hang it in his room. I was actually amazed at how beautiful it turned out. There are so many possibilities when using a coloring book. Just a note, when choosing a new coloring book, I always look for the one image-blank backside pages because otherwise you must sacrifice the image on the backside of your page of choice. Happy creating.

This book is so beautiful. I have a channel all about colored pencil coloring and do lots of detailed tutorials that show people how to color. I show how to choose colors, different techniques, and do lots of reviews for coloring supplies and coloring books. I have seen this book talked about a lot recently and would love to review it. Coloring flowers is one of my favorite things to do.

Oh my goodness! Even as a coloring obsessed child--erm, 3 decades give or take a couple years or so 😉--I have never wanted a coloring book so bad in my life!! Oh, yes, that beautiful book will not only be mine but I shall relish the opportunity to escape into the negative space of each page to create and to combine as many textures as I can without defiling the inherently gorgeous and balanced imagery!!!
Over the years, my body has been progressively betraying me and up until very recently, I'd abandoned any efforts to create anything. I was intrigued by the color book trend but could never quite find anything that ignited enough enthusiasm to pursue it...
    ...Well, consider me on 🔥 🔥 🔥
It will be an honor and privilege to interact with these illustrations. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

I am very confused. You seem to compliment and insult your guest all in one breath. "If your book had crossed my path, when coloring books were a thing". Hello? When they were a thing? They ARE a thing, have been a thing, and are even more popular right now, than ever. I am so very glad that a seemingly worthless hobby has finally redeemed itself to you, so you may lower yourself to try it out.
I rarely if ever comment on these things. But your insulting, dismissive attitude really bothers me.

The book and illustrations are absolutely gorgeous! I too had never gotten into the adult coloring part of this type of art but have appreciated looking at what others have done with it as far as coloring them in. I love the whole idea behind this book thank you for but you have done! I’m not sure if it’s too late now but I would sure love to be part of the drawing as well. Thank you so much! And thank you happy ever crafter for all you do and present to your followers. We are so blessed.

I am just starting with coloring and most certainly need the calm and peace of it. After loosing my husband and then mother weeks later. I have collected pencils and watercolor pencils too. My problem outside of being a beginner is that I am left handed and working with books is certainly uncomfortable. So I cut pages out, but it kinda effects the book binding. I work at a library and the seniors have a gathering each Saturday, they have encouraged me to keep trying. Thank you for your instructions.

lovely book and amazing work. The o
"orb" technique is called spotlighting. The filling in is very zentangled! How can you hold you righting instrument this way? Don't parents and teachers correct this for their children anymore? Your poor thumb! Do you have any ideas for what to do once the page is colored? Cards, tags, boxes, journal pages, labels ect...? Beautiful book. Thank You

I have colored since college (early 1980’s! ), but it was such a destressor while taking finals. I always encouraged my students to do it when I taught. It’s still relaxing!! I’d LOVE to win this!

Sorry, I didn't look at the other comments, I just jumped right in, now I feel silly for even mentioning the give away. Please excuse.
I will still be watching and am excited to explore your channel. Thanks!

Beautiful. What publisher did you use to get the great thick paper for your colouring book? I am wanting to publish a coloring book an don't want to use Amazon as they do not have thick enough pages for drawing or coloring you know?
