Note: The faucet pictured may not look like your faucet model, however the handle mechanism is the same.
BTW: The two washers on the window sill are old parts. New washers were used under the Philip head screw.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Total lifesaver. I was stumped by the black sleeve as well. Thanks for calling the help line so I didn't have to. Once I got that off and saw you removed the entire body of the faucet, the rest was a breeze. Neither of those are clearly depicted in the instructions. Thanks!
How does the handle come off? You only show it gone. Mine will not come off after the screw is removed, it's still stuck.
As I remember, the handle just came off. Call Moen customer support: 800-289-6636. Post a comment on how you solve the issue. In this video, you can see the handle comes off easily - ua-cam.com/video/ng484pwhBRI/v-deo.html
I liked your disassembly and reassembly of this particular case faucet. My kitchen faucet is the faucet from "hell"! It has "no brand name," looks like many others, and probably twenty or so yrs. old. (house owned by someone else before). It has a red/blue dot on faucet handle that is all! I need parts for this faucet. I have posted photos of mine -my partciular one! Any faucet Guru's out there that can help me even with a diagram, parts or such? Handles are reversed, so is water flow T.
What size is the allen wrench? I've tried over a dozen and none fit that first hole to remove the handle.
Either 5/64 or 7/64 would be the common moen sizes
@@knockywigglesworth1909 I went to Home Depot, bought a swiss army knife hex key set, used it, fixed faucet and returned hex key set.

I was eagerly awaiting the secret at 1:16. I could not figure out how to remove the black cylinder. Unfortunately, at 1:17 it is already vanished.
Disappointing.
rtel123 The secret at 1:16 is explained with a graphic pic at 3d on the Moen website:
Insert the white plastic tool, which is included in your FREE repair kit, onto the cartridge stem so that it straddles the ears.
Use pliers on the white plastic tool and loosen the cartridge by twisting back and forth. After removing the white plastic tool, grasp the cartridge stem and pull it straight out of the valve.

Not very helpful showing the disassembly steps. Can watch it in reverse to figure it out. My 6 year old Moen faucet fell apart from rust so I wasted my time and money on the repair kit. Going to Home Depot to buy Delta instead after a big waste of time.
W Timothy Brooks The Moen repair kit is free. The cartridge stem removal is better explained through graphic pics on the Moen website: www.moen.com/consumer-support/installation-help/tutorial?id=moen0133
It is free only if you have your original receipt. Otherwise shipping more than doubled the price. Still have the kit. Installed a new Delta but it did not seem to be as sturdy as the older models.
W Timothy Brooks I didn't have my receipt. I received it with FREE shipping in less than a week. Tech support was on the phone with me for 45 mins. when I was installing the kit.
