    I had always wondered about the output shaft on the Jeep boxes, having those boxes side by side has saved me the expense and hassle of finding out myself.
    Also, the RWD adapter is 👌

      i thought there's 2 flavours discounting the smaller hp70~ so jeep/demon/BMW was the same it was just 4x4 vs 2x4 drive nope thanks now i can see, my bell/parts are based around Chevy's and mopar-RB440/hemi so the closest is the hellcat's/SBM and or adaptation kit's aftermarket off the shelf not 4x4 BMW--8hp-transmission, so i wonder what's the difference between a dodge 80 and a 90 and a bwm-4x4 trans now beside's the bell/case as my first thought 💭was
      surprised to find out that dodge is making heavyweight vehicles and higher power as a combo ( i did hear that manual transmission tr6060 platformed car's like mine got passed by the automatic updates/upgrade's but didn't know it's about the same limits at 800hp-1200hp~ sorry forgot the torque number's ) but using the middle/small/under size parts, one would have figured it would have more warranty claims and or they would have learned the lessons of others in the malaise/70's/fwd era of crapy 🇺🇸 car's
      there saying that the BMW box/transmission/8HP is the best all rounder but did they look at the ford/GM 10-speed's? as the 10R80 to 10R140 look's up to snuff hardware wise and a wider-gearing split 1st being about 5:1 and OD about .05:1

    The reason why I am looking into 8HP70 swaps is because I happen to own a BMW E38 740d. That's an M67D40 biturbo V8 diesel with a 5HP30. The engine is so heavy duty it is hard to believe when you see it's internals. Locomotive levels of torque potential. And BMW tuned it to limit the torque to only 560Nm, the exact numer the ZF rated these 5HP30 transmissions. Some people tune lightly it to 620-630Nm, but that's right on the verge of failure. At first I thought about 6HP32 swaps as they don't require any adapters if you get the correct bellhousing and they are rated to 750Nm. Then the 8HP swaps in Poland blew up and it is hands down the best option. Why put so much work to get another wasteful sloshbox if 8HPs are so efficient. The instant lock-up and so many cruising gears. I bet could probably maintain 200km/h @ 1800RPM on the 8th as I have the longest 2.65:1 differential.

      The jeep failures i had seen were due to the smaller output shaft on the jeep box snapping. Which was normally caused by axle tramp from launches. Which aligns with what you are saying. Most of the awd cars wont get axle tramp until they around the 1000whp. I wasnt saying the 8hp70 wasnt strong, just that its not as strong as the BMW version, as the BMW has the same output shaft as the Jeep 8hp90.

    Hey, a bit of a question about the gear selection behaviour - I've currently got a jaguar xfr with a stock 6hp (not necessarily looking to swap this OEM, but maybe for something in the future) but one part I like about it's control behaviour is that whilst in regular drive mode, you can still manually change gears with the steering wheel paddles, and it reverts back to automatic mode after a while - can that behaviour be replicated with the turbolamik?
    (The 'sport' mode just has higher revs for automatic shift points, but going into 'manual' override keeps it in that selected gear. Holding the 'change up' paddle (right paddle) reverts it to automatic mode)

      @ZeroTo60Tube  Рік тому

      He’s not hitting torque limiters. Apparently being tuned by the best jeep guy in qld. However do you know of a tcu flash that lets him set tyre size and diff.
      The issue appears to be transmission doesn’t know road speed. So it shifts about 1000rpm to late in auto modes. He has to drive in manual everywhere.
      The guy tuning the box can lower shift points. But it relearns bad habits really quickly. But you can’t blame it if it doesn’t know road speed.

    • @steveshortt90
      @steveshortt90 Рік тому

      @Zero To 60 my controller lets me set tyre sizes.. then lets me adjust a parameter to then match actual speed so 5kph and 150kph are linear.
      I don't think this affects the factory TCM as the factory TCM only looks for and works with output shaft speeds for shifting, not wheel speeds.. the SoundGermanAutomotive controller outputs that calculated wheel speed data via CAN or as an analogue signal wire straight to the instrument cluster. BASICALLY I feel the tyre speed and size is his ECU calculation due to the fact the trans deals with output shaft speeds instead of wheel speeds.
      If old mates Jeep is having torque issues for shifting, it can be modified to handle the 1500nm and the trans won't throw codes.
      If I did it all again, I'd most definitely go with the Lamik now that they have their software bugs sorted.. at the time I couldn't not have a truck that had to wait for software updates to use as a daily driver.
      Not a biggy but I hadn't struggled with it for 12 months, it drove well straight away, I just struggled with how HPTuners worked the shift patterns and really wanted a manual shift to stay in manual shift without it dropping out. I'd 100% run the Lamik with my next Jeep box for sure.

      I can 100% tune that out for him. The shift table is a progressive table with tps % and output.. wheel speed and size or diff ratio won't affect it BUT will affect what the initial lower shift speeds will need to be set to. Let me have a chat to him, plug in and see if he's happy with where it shifts for which aggression table it's in. Really need to run the HP scanner to make logs to note which shift pattern he's not happy with, depending on which torque converter slip pattern and which torque converter pressure table he's in.

    Hi Andrew. I know the chances are slim that you'll know but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm wondering if an 8hp45 into E39 528i and 535i is dramatic. Do they just bolt up? Is the length different from 5hp19 and 5hp24? Would a Lamik be needed?

      Everything is different unfortunately, even the bolt pattern

    There's a guy in US that did the first 8hp swap into a n54. 8hp45, drag races it and bashes it, 2 year not broken yet.

      I know he watches the channel. Have spoken with him a little. He is using cantcu and factory 8hp tcu. So plenty of torque reduction and the car doesn’t make a lot of power from memory.
      When you drive both boxes with torque reduction turned off, it’s evident how much less capable the 8hp45 is.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube yes its less capable but for a n54 it is more than half the cost of a 8hp70. You could rebuild it with upgraded clutches and bushings with that saving.

      @@kkarnis3791 Ohhhh have you got a link to the upgrade parts on the 8hp45? Something that does work werll.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube raybestos and sonnax would do the trick. The bushings are the big failure point, same as zf6, from what I've read, and what I'm experiencing in my zf6hp19 right now.

      @@kkarnis3791 i have feeling both the raybestos and sonax upgrades dont really increase torque handling, they are more reconditioning parts. If you are aware of them making parts to increase torque handling let me know. But i have a feeling its only pure drivetrain solutions that actually increase torque handling capabilites.
