    the b58 converter does stall a little better, but the older 8hp45 n55 converters (535gt) has an even lighter converter body and it will reach 4500 rpm. you can also split the converter open and add extra clutches and steels and loosen the stator a bit without messing with the way it drives around town. i actually have a few extra converters that stall at 42-4500 rpm rusting away in the garage if you guys ever need one! i have the same combination maxxecu/turbo lamik in my drag car project. it must feel incredible driving around in that old duece coupe with that 8 speed and modern electronics controlling it all!

      Thanks for the information. It has made a big difference in drivability compared to the old combination.

      This was on the 1/4. Though streetweek and most is on the 1/8th

      @@Stickshiftgarage1 bloody fast car mate! I’m so intrigued by these transmissions. Literally get the best of both worlds in terms of streetability! Do you really need to add a clutch pedal for these? Also how would one work with large camshafts that require big converters?

    • @Stickshiftgarage1
      @Stickshiftgarage1  День тому

      @ Yeah Martin has built a great hotrod. No clutch pedal these come out in bmw etc and stronger version in hellcats. A lot of good power swaps and conversions around 1000HP plus getting around with different models.

      @ what are the results with the track? Is the 60ft improved?

    • @Stickshiftgarage1
      @Stickshiftgarage1  День тому

      @@eugenecassar2887 60ft slightly slower as taking off in second gear. Could do with a rear gear change but overall drivability on street and ET 1/4 slightly faster.

      Used to be 1.38 and here we did 1.44 . Starts on 2nd gear and its like a 1.2 compared to first on a 4l80. Even do we the car was a 10th of a sec faster on the 1.8 mile then before with the old tranny.
      A good thing to do would maybe be the change the rear ratio from 3.91 to 4.11 .

      @@martinlundqvist8020 we have been drag racing the zf8hp gearboxes for going on 4 years at 1500-1700whp in the imports and bmws , and a few 900-1000hp v8 cars. if you run a lower final drive, like 3.15-3.31 and set the converter stall to 4500-5000, using turbo lamik trans brake function with the converter slip, you can get out to 60' much faster and then lock the converter up in gears 3-6. it beats the th400 to 330' in our turbo cars. if you google "zf8hp calculator" grim jeeper website has a calculator that you can select any zf8hp and it shows the gear ratios of all the different zf8hp boxes, input your tire size and final drive ratio, input the rpm and mph to see where youll be at rpm .mph wise when you shift. we went from running 10's to mid 8s after using that calculator and setting the car up to trip the 1/4 mile beams at the very end of 5th gear. we dont use 6th unless traction control kicks in in short track and it runs out of 5th early.
