Hi there, Welll thank you. Glad you liked it. Yes it is a special view. :) Thank you for all your nice content on your channel as well :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd
Awesome. I've flown the F-16 virtually for nearly 20 years so am used to the HUD symbology of that. Still, it's very cool to be able to recognise a lot of the information on this HUD despite never looking at an Airbus HUD before. Very cool stuff :)
+Keith Buchanan Hi Keith, and thank you for your input. Glad you liked the video. New one comming out friday morning :) thx again facebook.com/simavihd
You are right. The weather was perfect, so that also the reason for I took this video. A combination of the nice sceneray and the HUD :) Thanks for watching, and more to come. Have a great day. Www.facebook.com/simavihd
Is it smart enough to pick an appropriately contrasting color for the display compared to the background. That's my problem with a HUD. Sometimes they could be hard to read.
@Simulation and Aviation Just a general question about the pilot school. What math degrees you need to complete whilst studying for a trafic pilot certificate? I heard someone said math 1,2,3.
Hi Josip :) Thanks. Yes a great SIM :) LOL... Well I dont think any sim can do it so good as in the real lift though, regarding the graphics. :) facebook.com/simavihd
Viewing the approach and landing through HUD was very interesting, especially nailing the approach all the way down to touchdown at a steady 130 Knots with a little help from Autopilot/s. Thanks for sharing, it is a great video great to watch often.
Correct, the BARO 680 is the min altitude set by the pilot for the approach (called out as "minimums") and referenced to the barometric altimeter - as opposed to a radio altitude (seen between the dashed 5 deg nose down pitch line) and would be prefixed RAD if selected. The " N" has me stumped too!
Hi there all and thank you for your input. Correct regarding the minimum and de-lutter status. I will make a video soon to demonstrate the difference. facebook.com/simavihd
Thank you very much. Really glad you liked the video. Just had an amazing flight this morning, and recorded a nice takeoff and landing. Will release the video soon. Posted a small clip of the Takeoff on my facebook page :). Www.facebook.com/simavihd
Hi Robert :) And thank you for your comment. Glad you liked the video. And yes the 260 feet is the Airport Altitude above sea lever :) Cheers, and hope to see you on facebook :). Www.facebook.com/simavihd
It's the so-called barometric altimeter. It measures altitude based on the pressure and what it measures is the altitude above sea level. The radio altimeter (which is responsible for the 50, 40, 30... callouts) measures the height above ground, but it only comes to life 2500 feet above ground.
I dont know the DCS M200. Will have to look that up. But yes it works really nice. I also use the HUD for avoiding TCU - Towering cumulus clouds. A great tool for that. Thanks for your input :) facebook.com/simavihd
I freaked out so bad when I noticed that horizon on the HUD and gov accurate it is and even when turning like whuuut? Or when the line to the runway appeared and everything exactly moved as the plane during little shakes and stuff. What is this magic?! * Mind blown *
Well, it is an amazing thing the HUD :) You should try and take a look on the other HUD films I´ve uploaded. Great stuff. Using my Sim in my office, I always use the HUD view. Makes things a bit easier :) cheers.
Hi X Z.. Sorry I thought I had anser you. Can see my answer was somehow deleted. This was a manual landing. The CAT 3 you saw in the FMA in the HUD, is just what the ACFT is capable of doing in this system configuration. Not what we are actually doing. Thx for your input.. See you in facebook
The Rwy up here 1799 m :) No problemo. It is only 30 m in Winther and therefore it can look like its very short from above :) Thanks for you comment and happy landings. Hope to see you on facebook :)
HUD is expensive to install and maintain. It pays for itself when it makes the difference between being able to make an approach versus seeking an alternate airport, which involves not only runway approach visibility but also training and certification requirements for the crew and the aircraft systems. Airlines that fly to destinations with a lot of bad weather, or operate mostly at night, find HUD a better option than some others. That being said, it can add an extra dimension of safety to many operations.
On the HUD the speed and height are shown. Is the speed in mph, kph or knots and is the height in feet, metres or some other measurement. Considering most of the world is metric, it would be disappointing if imperial measurements are being used.
Well, I dont know. Maybee its because that the Airbus is certified to land with CAT3B no descision height and without hud. You dont get Worse visibility than that. :). Thanks for your comment and welcome to join in on my facebook page. :)
i was in one of those twice and it was taken up high enough to see the pitch black ring of nothingness surrounding the earth, it was incredible as well as it made me see the world as a vary small place. was the middle of the day but still got to see the black ring, the in flight speed was about 520MPH or so .
Hi Richard. This is an Approach I did into my homebase in the North Atlantic EKVG - FAE. You should try it out with your simulator. Xplane 11 has got a very nice scenery of our nice weather challenging Islands :) See you on facebook hopefully :)

+Flightsim Fantasy Hi there, and thanks for your comment. Well miss the Avro I dont, but could be fun to fly it a litle again though. The Airbus is an amazing office, and a great plane to fly :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd
LOL - HI Alf. Thats going to be alitle hard. The rwy up here is only 30 M in Winther, and there fore we taxi all the way to the end to turn around, in order to minimale getting stuff in our engines :) thx for your input. Www.facbook.com/simavihd
Why did they perform a tailwind landing? RWY: 30 Course: 305 Direction of wind at touchdown: from 148° to 328° Wind speed at touchdown: 19 knots Wasn't it better to land on RWY 12?
Altitude ended up at about 270ft or so on landing. Does that mean that the runway was sitting 270ft above sea level? I don't know the first thing about this kind of thing, but in my mind, I would have thought that the HUD should have been calibrated to the destination altitude in relation to sea level so as to show the true height of the aircraft as it descends?. I wanna see a head up display landing in fog at Juneau, like Alaska Air Fl #1866 when it crashed into a foggy mountain just west of Juneau on it’s landing descent
It's "AVIATION", not "AVATION" in the intro! ...and it looks like from the early '70s. Would recommend to design a modern one, or better skip it at all, because the content is quite good quality, interesting and really rare for an Airbus, that's true. ;)
Why you wanna see me on facebook? You can't "see" me there anyway, and I can communicate here as well, so what is the benefit besides hunting for "LIKES" and giving up privacy?

Very interesting video, thank you for sharing
I'm watching one of your vids and saw this

i love life of an airline pilot bro
Well, thank you for watching and sharing :)
Great video.. I'm always attracted by the Head Up Display.. :)
Me too... A nice help in the cockpit as well 🤗🤗
Very good, thanks Thomas!
I never knew that an Airbus A319 has a HUD😮
Well, it is a seldom thing actually. We got it installed when we bought the plane as a part of the deal. :) facebook.com/AVIATIONinTheFrontSeat/

I used to be an Avionic engineer on the F16. A great bird. Loved it and also to fly the Sim. Fun...
Nice nice nice! FUll of interesting details on the Airbus valuable for simulation ;-)
Hi Romain, and thanks for your comment. Yes I totally agree. :)
Could watch your HUD-Approach-Videos all day long - thank you so much!
Well, thank you for your interest in my videos. Glad you liked it. :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd

Thanks for the vid; Thanks to the Captain and First Officer too!
Hi Rob :) Well thank you for watching. Glad you liked it. And much more to come :) facebook.com/simavihd
Absolutely brilliant video, as close as I'll ever get to being in a cockpit... Thanks for the ride.
+Keith Buchanan Hi Keith, and thank you for your input. Glad you liked the video. New one comming out friday morning :) thx again facebook.com/simavihd
I didn't know that the 320 family has a HUD option! Great vid as always! What FD layout do you like most: the crossbars or the little dot?
Oh yes it does. Well we dont use it that much though. :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd
Little dot!
that's an airbus a400m military aircraft
for a long time, only the "Air Inter" A320 had them.
Caus b
HUD’s are newish there being added to all new airbus aircraft most a320s and a320 neos from the past year have them
great video,thank you for sharing
Glad you liked it 🤗
Thanks for sharing,shared.
Well, anytime, and thank you for SHAREING. Thats great. :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd
Oh! It show when is time to pull up for smooth!
Hi Luiz - Yes indeed. Many nice things you can do with the HUD :)
Very nice!!
Thank you. Happy new Year :)
Very cool view indeed. Dont get to see that too often so thanks.
Good sound, too!
LOL ... Thanks a lot. Love positive inputs :)
Does this HUD have terrain projected onto the glass as in the RockwellCollins HUD
Nope. It could be very nice :) A great help in ceratin scenarios :) Thanks for your comment :)
great video for a sunday afternoon, thanks :)
Indeed, and thank you for watching and your interest. :) Www.facebook.com/simavihd
In my case for a Friday night 😊
Alway a pleasure to watch :) LOL
If it were a arcade game of flying, this would be the easy level, hehe... Perfect weather and no observable wind. Very good video.

Interesting video. Put it on 2x speed for the fighter jet version. :-)
Good one :) Will try it out. LOL
Wow! My new favourite aviation video😮😀
Well, thank you. Glad you like it. Yes watching through the HUD is actually very usefull for sim operations as well :)
Nice! Subscribed

13:48 what is that sound?
Approach mode change :)
ahh what is that mean?
Hartzell Francisco when the autopilot turns off it makes that noise to let the pilot now
Which operator has this!!! Must be a charter
You are right :)
F&Lw/SandA, where is this island? Thank you.
Does that little circle that moves around....does that have to be aimed at the runway?
@Simulation and Aviation Just a general question about the pilot school. What math degrees you need to complete whilst studying for a trafic pilot certificate? I heard someone said math 1,2,3.
Very real ,thank you.

Is there any FMA. Call outs change because of the HUD ?
A great video. A very interesting approach and landing in the Faroe Island of Vaga.
I guess u r the best wonderful I sued and liked 😊😊😊😊
Well thank you for your kind words :) Glad you liked the video.
Exceptional! First time viewer and only a passenger. Where is this airport? I would truly like to visit this place. Thanks!
Hi Joohn. Glad you enjoyed the view. The Faroe Islands - EKVG - FAE
It's a different way to see landings, beautiful!
Hi Alberto. Glad you liked the video. It is very nice to look through the HUD during landing :)
What's the reason for the downgrade CAT3 - CAT1 at 11:41?
Its a system downgrade, depending on the systems and the input it gets from transmitters on the ground 🤗
Its like a video game but in real life... Cool!
LOL - Never thought of that but yes, you are tight :)
Can you perform a manual CATIIIa approach with this hud in the same fashion the Dash 8 Q400 does using its Heads up guidance system ?
Viewing the approach and landing through HUD was very interesting, especially nailing the approach all the way down to touchdown at a steady 130 Knots with a little help from Autopilot/s. Thanks for sharing, it is a great video great to watch often.
Nice to see the HUD in operation. What is the N at the lower right bottom and the 680 number near the auto throttles mean?
The 680 is probably the minimums altitude, and the 'Baro' next to it has something to do with that as well. As for the N, not a clue.

The Rwy up here 1799 m :) No problemo. It is only 30 m in Winther and therefore it can look like its very short from above :) Thanks for you comment and happy landings. Hope to see you on facebook :)
What is "in Winther"? Sorry, I'm not native english and I can't find any translation that would make sense.
He means its only thirty metres wide , im a bit late though :/
Fly&Like w/Simulation and Aviation cool thanks for responding - sorry im a bit late - anyways i see now its just the perspective
RoboNinja99 aight cool
Was it filmed with a GoPro on a head mount? I hope it wasn't done on a phone...
And any reason why HUDs aren't often used in commercial aviation?

does the pilot still make a correction to line up the plane with the runway centerline after touchdown?
Ohhh yes indeed. This is a manual landing and 99% of all landings are manual. 🤗
Lovely to see a functioning HUD in an A319. Why aren't there more airbusses equipped with this lovely tool?
Well, I dont know. Maybee its because that the Airbus is certified to land with CAT3B no descision height and without hud. You dont get Worse visibility than that. :). Thanks for your comment and welcome to join in on my facebook page. :)

dang the Hud legit tells u when to flare that's sick
Really nice - the hardest part seemed to be the turn at the end of the runway! Can you parallel park one of these as well? ;-)
LOL - HI Alf. Thats going to be alitle hard. The rwy up here is only 30 M in Winther, and there fore we taxi all the way to the end to turn around, in order to minimale getting stuff in our engines :) thx for your input. Www.facbook.com/simavihd
WHy does the rwy change in winter to 30m?
Channel Alf it parallel parks automatically like a Mercedes
LOL :)
I think he meant 30 m in width.
Flying a real plane would need me this... (Bcuz of playing too much infinite flight)
Well, infinite is a great App. I fly that as well. 🤗
Why did they perform a tailwind landing?
RWY: 30
Course: 305
Direction of wind at touchdown: from 148° to 328°
Wind speed at touchdown: 19 knots
Wasn't it better to land on RWY 12?
Could enhance the video informing from where to where flight destination.
Hi Jorge :) Well, noted. And my next video will have that :) Thx for your input. Www.facebook.com/simavihd
You like iOS uh?
iMovie & GarageBand Music
So nearly made the turn off. Great vid thanks.
pretty steep approach for an A 319.... Teach me how to do that..
Well, the trick is to be established and full configured in an early stage, and also speed back to REF + 10 - 15 KTs :)
16:10 This plane has a tighter turn radius than some modern cars. :)
Ohhhh yes indeed :)
Because the front tyre can turn up to 90 I think
On infinite flight the head up display is very useful during approaches and landings.
Ohhh yes. I like that veiw the best to :)

Needs post-production to reduce the mid-tone brightness, so you can read the HUD in comfort
