Pro Tip: Claustral queen ants have a small head, big thorax & big abdomen like you see here 1:20. Semi-Claustral queen ants have a head about the same size as the thorax & only a slightly bigger abdomen like you see here 0:45. Using this tactic helped me identify that my thief ant queen was a claustral.
I have a rhytidoponera Metallica queen and a brachyponera lutea queen. For my rhytidoponera queen I have it in a long test tube and I put the food in the end and for my brachyponera queen I have it in a container with a wet cotton bud in it
I have a litle problem i guess, well i have a semi claustral queen for couple of weeks and she normally have a lot of brood but she sealed her self in the nest with dirt and she does not want to vome out to eat. Is there anything i can do with this, becouse it never hapend to me before.
Is it okay to put the test tube inside a long container or would the space be too massive for the queen ant to search for food? Also do they need water or does the protein give them enough water? I have been using mince. Cheers.
Yes its ok to put a test tube in a container. Yes she will need clean water to drink I'm interested to hear how mince has been going for a food source, not something I would use but curious.
@@TheAntKeeper i will do my best, i currently have a queen of the "psuedonueponera" still guessing the sp (for a month now) before i have lots of campo but released them (dont worry they are native in my area) Also nice video❤
The way nature intended lol Like nature intended acryl nests! What a nonsense. In nature they can find other stuff and eat that for energy... So there's that. PS. if bought you also can't be sure how they were kept and for how long. Workers may were added or taken and water may has sugar or not .... Plus freshness and other bacteria may been already introduced! ... also weird honey water gets bad so fast given properties of honey. Hm
I made the outworld at 2:53 and it's working very well for my fast growing crazy ant colony! Very helpful and keep up the good work!
I'm so pleased! Thank you
About 4 days ago, I caught a Polyrhachis sp., this is really helpful!
That's so cool! Nice job find the Polyrachis!

Thank You Hollowgent! New video in a couple of days
How often do you feed the semi claustral Queen?
Hey, I feed them every 3-4 days :)
You could improve the outworld by adding a hole in the lid and then stuff it with cotton
That’s a great idea!

I caught a bothroponera sp. And i dont know how to take care of it this is my rirst time caring semi claustral
That is so cool! Congrats! This tutorial should help you through all the steps. If you have any other questions, just ask! :D
I have no luck with semi, 22 t.jaw, 2 odontoponera, 4 "psuedonueponera" (still guessing the sp.) :
I can relate, Semi-Claustral sp are defiantly harder to manage. Trial and error leads to success though!
