Just bought my first drone and have been overdosing on YT videos to absorb some knowledge. I have to say I have found your channel to be the most engaging and informative of the many I have dipped in to. Thanks for your tuition.
Hey! Thank you all for your comments and discussion below! Just to let you know that as this channel is growing, we are struggling to reply to each and every one of you but rest assured that we do read your comments and value your input. Please do keep your comments coming! Drone Film Guide is evolving into a cracking community for those of us who want to do more with our drones and fly like filmmakers...stay tuned!
Wow, these adjustments has made my mavic mini footage pop. Utilising other tips from 'Drone Film Guide' of adjusting the new features of the ISO / Shutter etc has made colour enhancing so easy. Massive thumbs up to you
Please keep up with sharing your knowledge! It has made a world of a difference in my drone photography & flying skills!! I can't thank your channel enough!
Stew-aht...lovely man! I'm a self taught underwater videographer, but I use my Mavic Pro for establishing shots in my videos and I just wanted to see what I could pick-up from you to make my work a tad more dynamic...I've been toying with the cinematic 'letterbox' idea...it didn't dawn on me that it'd add framing flexibility...you've just convinced me. Thank you
thank you for the awesome info. i have watched numerous info videos with no luck, but you truly have a gift. Not only do you know how to make stunning videos but you know how to explain it quickly with out leaving out a bunch of steps like most people. i truly appreciate it.
I'm still learning how to use my first drone. The cinematic possibilities are endless. I'm still trying to make sense of it all to incorporate this very important new development into my high school curriculum. I've watched and subscribed to a few drone channels but I really like your approach and insight. Kudos!
I'd say I know stills photography quite well. Bought a P4P+, mainly for stills photography, but I am trying to learn film techniques as well. Tons of things to learn. Therefore I must have seen over a hundred how-to clips on youtube by now. Yours is one of the very best. Thank you!
Although I’m fairly new to drones, I’ve been flying RC fixed wing and Helicopters for many years, but now have 2 drones with a keen interest in cinematography. This said I’ve never done any video editing before. Enjoying your videos. Keep them and the emails coming. Thanks Bill
Brilliant. You have a knack of crystallizing a thought or a concept that I was thinking about or wrestling with already.I find your content is ideally timed, and straightforwardly delivered. I think more editing tips would be helpful. Something about how to edit down 10 minutes of drone footage to a few 5- to 10-second clips held together by some background music.
Hi Stewart, I just happened to stumble across your channel and I am so excited that I have. I have been looking for some tips and guidelines in video capturing and editing and your videos are exactly what I was looking for. Keep up the wonderful work sir and you are making it possible for people like me to understand the art of film making. Again, thank you ever so much.
I am new to your channel. This is the 3rd video i have watched and...wow. Very informative, to the point and communicated in a peaceful and authentic way. Very inspiring.
Awesome video! Great tips and delivery of them. Loved the video clip example. Really good example of cutting to the music, great use of the wind sounds at the beginning of the clip. Great video by itself can get pretty boring. Your timing on your clips was a good example of how to make it work and hold our attention. Thanks!
Thanks for the great tutorials. Really like your format. I do think your wisdom comes across better when there's no distracting background music though. Thanks again and good luck with your ongoing efforts
That was fantastic! Perfect for a new drone owner and an experienced editor! Love the ideas. Bought my first drone last week, looking to edit my first drone footage. Excited to have come across you.
Been watching a few of your videos and want to say thanks. Very informative, easy to watch and full of great tips pitched at the right level to keep us interested. You mentioned in the end of this video if you'd went into more detail the video would be an hour long. I'd watch that for sure! Great work, keep it up... Andy from the Kingdom of Fife.
Awesome video just bought my Mavic pro 2 today and you have certainly whet my whistle cant wait to learn and if I get to a 10th of this proficiency I will be pleased
Excellent tips and very inspiring video. Keep them coming! However I would appreciate if the background music was toned down a bit, it is hard to hear what you say sometimes.
Absolutely wonderful information and presentation. I'm a newbie to drones (I have a basic $250 GPS drone) and a complete novice to photography, but your video wants to make me experiment, be creative, and hone my skills. Thank you. Yes by the way, I just subscribed.
I need to edit on the go. I know how great MacBook Pro is for 4K editing but I would prefer a windows based laptop. Did you cover this topic in your videos? What are the average requirements to edit 4K without mortgaging the house for an inspired amateur?
Excellent video! Great tips. And great footage and editing. I'm still in the learning to fly mode. LOL. I plan to incorporate some of your tips and techniques. Nice job, sir.!
Indeed! I just came across this amazing channel, I’m so lucky! I’m just bought my first not so much toy drone:) Hubsan H501SS X4. It’s very funny how life guides you into a positive path:) Thanks so much! Peace!
Drone Film Guide, Mr. Drone Film Guide! I just became your subscriber:) You Chanel is amazing and your knowledge , skill and the hard work that you dedicate, it’s immediately noticed:) ! Thank you!! Peace!
What program do you use to edit? What notebook do you have and what hardware? Im going to start with a mavic. Do you think with a macbook air its good??
Thank you for another great video and a huge help! I hope you will do a more deep review about color grading because I suck at it so much just randomly moving those sticks around color board...
Yo, your biggest fan in Africa here... Well done! If you see it fit I, would like to know more about considerations into fps and how to slo-mo and/or ramp up speed. I have seen some sporadic mentions of shooting in slow movement of the drone in combination with more and/or less frame rates, but I would really like to hear your take on this from a practical perspective. Thanks in advance...
Sure thing! I can tell you now though that the shots I think you are referring to are simply speeded up 25fps footage with no ramping or change in frame rate so there's nothing clever going on there!
Thank you Stewart. What a treasure to have these rich, lush landscapes "at your fingertips..." just beautiful (after you adjust for the cameras' sundry idiosyncrasies with capturing light). ps -- kudos on the new sponsor... I'm sure you'll get many more very soon!
Another good and interesting video from you guys. But hey, dont be afraid to make your videos longer and more in depth. Most of us watching this have for sure a longer attention span than 40 seconds ( LOL)
Hi Captain. I would like to suggest maybe you could make the background music bit more quiet next time. I was unable to hear you through the music. Anyways: thank you for making this channel! Very helpful and really well done.

You're awesome Stewart! Such simple and helpful tips for anyone to use 👍🏼
The shots you make are of the top shelf. That speeding in between scenes is just so cool. Good luck
Haha YT served this up today. I decided to drop by to give it a like. I’ve been watching for about 3 years. Interesting to see this with the Phantom.

Great videos, slightly surprised though that you promote adding a PNG overlay rather than adjusting the aspect ratio. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely wonderful information and presentation. I'm a newbie to drones (I have a basic $250 GPS drone) and a complete novice to photography, but your video wants to make me experiment, be creative, and hone my skills. Thank you. Yes by the way, I just subscribed.

More very useful content. If only I had enough time to put it into practice.
Awesome job Stewart just watched a few of your Videos recalled liked them : )
Do you have a full length video on the final topic of editing?
Awesome the video. This is all new to me so I found it very useful. Thank you
Great!
Grande sei uno dei migliori
Great video like always. Quick question, which video editing software is this?
Great video!! Learned a lot
Great curriculum design and presentation! The examples bring it all home! Is this all Captain Cornelius footage?
Thank you for your feedback! Yes indeed, every shot you see in any of our YT videos was filmed by ourselves over the last couple of years.
Wonderful Video, However how do you add some graphics of your own chosen and music as well.
Going on a holiday with my brand new spark tomorrow, gonna use a lot of these tips, great video!
Hi Stewart. Can you film with three different drones if you discussed an old still pictures.
Excellent! Very informative. I've been figuring that short fast clips are best.
Another good and interesting video from you guys.
But hey, dont be afraid to make your videos longer and more in depth. Most of us watching this have for sure a longer attention span than 40 seconds ( LOL)
Ha! Sound advice!
Hi Captain. I would like to suggest maybe you could make the background music bit more quiet next time. I was unable to hear you through the music. Anyways: thank you for making this channel! Very helpful and really well done.
Sure thing! I think this video was an exception in terms of music volume because a few people commented.
