Not because the gov doesn’t want it solved lmao It’s because it’s impossible to accommodate a billion immigrants. Learn economics it’s literally how the world works 😅 4:20 is what I'm talking about, for those who asked
Politicians could’ve fixed this problem a long time ago, but they didn’t want to fix it because it’s not profitable for them to fix the problem. It’s profitable for them to leave the system broken.
Yeap agreed, but you have to ask, how many lives killed because of fentanyl & Billions from hard working Americans has been spent to illegal immigrants' luxury hotel, food, legal fees and healthcare? These are vote buying schemes spearheaded by Biden & Democrats to intentionally turn them to voters at the expense of Americans
Right, cap the legal immigrant allowed per year, but just allow everyone in if you are illegally entering is a great solution..... Then complaint that immigration is important to our sustainability. Why not increase the cap for legally entering instead?
“Why not increase the cap for legally entering instead?” I wonder if it’s partially due to housing limitations. I didn’t look up exact numbers but it seems we have a somewhat unique issue, in the US, where we have a lot of real estate that’s not developed let alone options for residency & quality of living (eg: Midwestern territory, blank and open for infrastructure development). If the resources were made available for such a project; it would provide a very quick outlet for resettlement, further warranting an increase in the immigrant-count/annum limit. But idk, economics is out of my wheelhouse; wouldn’t be surprised if I was missing quite a few details

A big part of the problem is Latin America. I'm in Mexico and Obrador has OUR southern border here completely open with absolutely no restrictions. It's a mess on BOTH SIDES.
What is your point? Mexico don't have the luxury to spend more in immigration, and even if do, now the south mexican border will be overwhelmed and will make a problem between mexico, Guatemala and Belize
@@linuxsisschannel8602 You didn't understand what I said? My point is that Andrés Manuel López Obrador has MY southern border here completely open. So that's a huge part of the problem as to why there are so many migrants on YOUR southern border. All the Latin American countries here are to blame as well. And right now it will be bye Obrador but here comes his puppet who is sure to win: Claudia Sheinbaum. So it will be more of the same and this will never end. But if you're ok with that then ok..

As a legal immigrant and a tax payer, it’s insulting to us if illegal immigration takes precedence over legal. Not to mention the current wait times to get a green card on employment based sponsorship. Current estimates are around 20+ years for a majority of the legal immigrants
@@WD00777 You think this is all one side? America has been encouraging migrants to come to the US since the beginning of the 1900s and made no effort to organize migration. In recent decades, American politicians from the left and right have benefited from their never-implemented "plans" for the border and immigration so they have no reason to fix it. Betsy Devos' family adoption organization made lots of money off "placing" immigrant children in homes via government funds. Just like homelessness, immigration is most beneficial to everyone at the top left a mess and until they can't make money off it nothing will change.

Hey there 👋 great work! Happy to have you here. Finance degree here; more migrants means higher demand on housing; meaning higher rents and home costs. More people working means a higher demand on a lower amount of goods; causing a rise in all prices. More migrants hurts us tremendously in almost every single way.
@@magicxsquare_ This is not true. You're finance degree didn't teach you enough about economics and labor demographics. As the U.S. population trends towards having more retirees, we need more people of working age to fill in key roles such as nursing, construction, farm work, etc. There's currently a higher demand for these jobs than ever before. Housing would literally be solved if we simply built more homes. Bottlenecks contributing to low housing supply are material shortages, labor shortages, and NIMBYISM. If we block migrants that are propping up our labor markets, we're going to be in for a shitshow in the next 10-15 years when the demographic skews even more towards the elderly and not enough people to care for them / fill in the gaps.
@@magicxsquare_ that might be true under normal circumstances. The aging population and Covid really put us behind as far as a young, working population goes. We need people to work. The question is what’s the most ideal way to get young workers and be able to fill the void that boomers are leaving considering how small gen X is. You need more than finance to see the big picture. We have chef robots that can now cook every meal; we have robots that can pick every fruit tree and sort it; we also can 3D print houses… The amount of labor required is dropping significantly for low skilled jobs. The right to seek asylum was incorporated into international law following the atrocities of World War II. Congress adopted key provisions of the Geneva Refugee Convention (including the international definition of a refugee) into U.S. immigration law when it passed the Refugee Act of 1980. Not only does the US have an international legal obligation to do so, based on the requirement of complying with the object and purpose of the 1951 Refugee Convention, and implementing legal obligations in good faith, it has an obligation to do so under its own domestic law. Anyone can apply for asylum. Normally, however, it is a person who considers themselves at risk of serious harm in their country of origin, or who is compelled to leave their country in search of safety in another country. As a signatory to the 1967 Protocol, and through U.S. immigration law, the United States has legal obligations to provide protection to those who qualify as refugees. The Refugee Act established two paths to obtain refugee status-either from abroad as a resettled refugee or in the United States as an asylum seeker. Similar to a refugee, an asylum seeker is someone who may be in search of protection due to dangers in his or her home country. While every refugee is initially an asylum seeker, not every asylum seeker will ultimately be recognized as a refugee. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services made changes that affirmative asylum applicants must bring an interpreter to their asylum interview if they are not fluent in English or wish to proceed with their interview in a language other than English. Unfortunately, it hasn’t slowed things down.

Explain why it can take YEARS at minimum to get a *visa* in this country, let alone almost a DECADE to get a green card for permanent residence. Make legal immigration *practical*.
Meanwhile the other political side sees an endless supply of cheap labor they can abuse and eject at the pleasure of their businessowner constituents, while deliberately not providing "government spending" to staff up and actually process all the irregular entry and visa overstay cases properly.
The basic law of global immigration is, no one has a right to go to any country. Otherwise the Nordic countries would have a billions people instead of 15 million.
I’m a legal immigrant who received an advanced degree here, working here and paid perhaps hundreds of thousands of tax dollars throughout my career. One day I had to visit the immigration office to get some work done. Upon my arrival, there was an extremely long line that lasted several blocks waiting outside. Luckily, I asked the security guards and there was a separate line for legal immigrants (with 3 people). The other line was presumably undocumented immigrants seeking asylum. I’m glad I asked and didn’t wait in the wrong line. I guess it’s a dilemma for every (legal) immigrant. While most of us agree that America needs a rule based system, and the rules for legal immigration should be easier, not harder. In the meantime, it’s not the best policy to accept unlimited undocumented immigrants, and those resources should be used to help the legal immigration first. However, we are also concerned about the xenophobia the other side was trying to promote. The leaders from the other side are increasingly hostile towards legal immigrants as well. It’s really difficult for us legal immigrants to survive in America, despite we contributed a lot here.
Right, if anything "legal" immigration has gotten so convoluted that it's becoming impossible to complete. Hence why the trend of irregular entry straight to asylum claim route.

Prior to this date, encounters only include apprehensions. At 4:38, we see the info that encounters increased over 100% between 2019 and 2023. How can you compare years that include two different methods of determining encounters?
why argue about this. Just look at what's happening in Europe, Germany in particular. I think what needs to be done is obvious.
Tump wouldn't let this happen ... Even here in, the 🇬🇧 migrants are getting hotels and even spending money 😮
Ironically Trump oversaw a record-breaking surge of illegal immigration.
Nobody who cared about this country and its people would let this happen. Biden is a traitor putting American citizens at risk with this open borders b.s.
He did. He literally had the Honduran caravan come in. I’ve met workers who once came in that way illegally but now legal.
Biden is also giving 700 $ a month to each illegal.

The Cloward-Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. It is the strategy of forcing political change to societal collapse through orchestrated crises. The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, amassing massive unpayable national debt, and other methods such as unfettered immigration, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
And? At this time one could argue both major parties endorse this strategy.
@@bengaltiger96 who cares, its not a problem any one is trying to so solve, its designed to collapse the USA and turn us into a socialist bunch of people.

@@rowbart3095 I'd say there are elements of both in both parties. There are those that want this whole thing to collapse by design (in both parties), and those who will have it happen by their mere incompetence. And hte sad thing is we can prevent both, either through the ballot box or not giving power to the former by not giving them oxygen (I don't mean deplatforming, as I am a believer in 1A, but just ignoring them).
To understand this issue in its entirety, all you have to ask yourself is "who would these people vote for when they are here?"
ask yourself the question...why is Biden fighting TX to keep the border open. TX volunteers to build the wall, and Biden hates it. I hope people wake up.
Nobody, because they're, you know, illegals? Kinda need to be a citizen to vote.
And before you complain about lack over voter IDs, the verification isn't hard. If you're a registered citizen in a State, you get one vote for that name. If a name not on the list votes, that's an illegal vote. Also all the conservative states have voter ID laws anyway.
It’s not about vote. The plan is much more sinister. Wake up!
American with a German wife. Got married April 2016 and she and our daughter joined me in the states in February 2017. Visa process was a pain and cost a lot of money (especially for a military E5 at the time) but we did it and did it right because it was worth it to us. Can't believe this is even an argument in our country when it's not even considered in other places
It’s basically to reduce wages by increase immigration, increase the military cause they can’t meet the requirements for quotas for amount of people, increase political power in their state.

The poorer and more populous the country, the harder it is to convince the American consular officer at the visa window that your qualifications are bona fide and you'll remain in the parameters of your visa (i.e. not overstaying it).
Only Haitians and Venezuelans are allowed apparently
"RIGHT OF SOIL" also needs to be amended... many people bank on that to come in and remain permanently after childbirth on US soil. Removing it will incentivize many to not come as well. But it may only stop 10% of the overall population coming in.
It doesn't last the lifetime though. Once the kid comes of age or gets provided an alternative guardianship, the parents can still be subject to deportation with like a 10 year ban on reentry.

"Just .2% of those who try for the diversity lottery are selected" Saying it like that is dishonest because it gives a false impression that it's rare. This diversity lottery allows up to 50,000 people in a year. That's not a small number. US immigration is on the easier side compared in terms of rules to most other western nations; our system is just really overloaded.

What is the point of doing paper work and doing administration stuff if u can get in by entering through a hole in the wall ?
I lived in the U.S for 2 years and the U.K for 4 years. The U.K caught on quick, hence brexit. The U.S is heading for disaster, they should shut every inch of the border and get the military to monitor every inch of the border. The effects on healthcare, education, housing, to name a few. Brexit is why the UK’s economy is struggling now and will be in the foreseeable future. The conservatives sold you a lie and the immigrants are STILL coming.

Brexit has damaged trade and only addressed legal migration though, we still haven't stopped the boats from the Mediterranean, which is a major issue. If people could claim asylum legally, they wouldn't get on boats. I don't know enough about the US system.
The UK is becoming a mix between pakistan and afganistan , very very bad example

You act like legal immigration doesn’t exist. When you travel to another country you get to get a visa. Yet you don’t complain to that country that they should change their laws
@@rickysampson8759no he know their is an issue but no one wants to solve it
Legal immigration doesn't exist with a practical amount of paperwork and processing. Applying for legal entry shouldn't require years in advance trying to prove impossibly specific qualifications.
common sense solution is to deport every illegal entry like the rest of the world does, yet only in America your first act of entering the country is a criminal offense we allow you to stay without penalty, and also provide you housing, food and health care, which most citizens of the country will need to work for it, that is the most insane solution I ever heard.

Yes but if we didn't have any liberals e would still have children working in factories, no weekeends, no clean food and drug act, and of course slavery.

The LEGAL immigration system we have is not that bad if it is followed by all including all states. Some small tweaks could help I guess. The MAIN problem is that isn't happening and one political side sees a bunch of votes in their future if they can just bring a bunch of 'em in and give them voting rights, social benefits, etc... nothing more than those politicians making a play to entrench their political power long term.
But if we don't raise the caps on immigration then it just means there will be more illegal immigrants. We don't have the manpower to process all these people who want to come to the US, leaving them stranded on the border.
I agree that drug cartels and smuggling people are a big problem on the border. You fix that by hiring more border agents and immigration judges to determine who should and shouldn't come into the country.
@@PASH3227 there are too much illegal immigrants not working, and too little legal immigrants working hard.

The basic law of global immigration is, no one has a right to go to any country. Otherwise the Nordic countries would have a billions people instead of 15 million.
It’s crazy that this woman said young population won’t grow and they need migrants. Maybe change the way you pay workers first?
Where do you feel pressure as a legal immigrant? Do you live in a conservative state? Or are you surrounded by conservative people?
Right, if anything "legal" immigration has gotten so convoluted that it's becoming impossible to complete. Hence why the trend of irregular entry straight to asylum claim route.
If you’re paying hundreds of thousands in taxes, then you are doing more than just “surviving”
