As iconic as this line is, it also underscores one of the major issues of the show AND the books - the White Walker/Others plot is an existential threat to the entire realm and maybe the world, and the politicking and scheming and wars fought among the Seven Kingdoms isn't going to mean a damn thing to them. Aside from the fact the Night King doesn't exist in the books, it's not like the White Walkers are gonna sit down to a peace talk and negotiate terms. That's what we like about the books and the show, the talking scenes, the policking, but the White Walkers don't feed into that kind of storyline. I dunno how the books will handle this disconnect, but I can only see one of two things happening - the White Walker plotline will end up taking a backseat to what I'll broadly refer to as the Iron Throne plotline (that being the plotlines concerning who'll end up sitting it), or vice-versa. Either the focus will be on defeating the White Walkers to focus on the throne, or claiming the throne to unit the realm against the walkers. The only out is if the two goals are made as one by the walkers being a threat to King's Landing itself, but given how much of Westeros they'd have to march through to get there, that seems unlikely.
@@natebaxter9551 Yes, but you missed the point of me bringing it up - the narrative disconnect between the White Walkers and the battle for the Iron Throne. I don't know how the books will handle it, but we saw how the show tried to, and it was a sloppy mess.

Ser Davos.....an ideal wingman...
Ser Davos is so good at selling and being a wing man, he inadvertently shipped Jon Snow to his aunty
Not because of his birth right he has no birth right He’s a damn bastard; with no name to speak off but still fighting for everyone with nothing to gain and davos just laid it bare to show them jons bravery; in a show just full of great monologue with most coming from Tyrian Davos manage to out do him and be more compelling; well done sir Davos
You do know that Jon makes this exact point about 2 minutes later in the episode, right?
@@natebaxter9551 Yes, but you missed the point of me bringing it up - the narrative disconnect between the White Walkers and the battle for the Iron Throne. I don't know how the books will handle it, but we saw how the show tried to, and it was a sloppy mess.
@@DrakeyC the narrative disconnect was purposeful. To show that Jon was actually the best choice to lead. He alone was truly focused on the bigger issue instead of sitting in that chair stroking his ego.
@@natebaxter9551 GRRM is purposefully writing to build up a black-and-white Good vs Evil conflict that is at-odds with the political intrigue that made his books popular and his own personal views on war?
S7: "It doesn't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne."
S8: JK lol, the long night lasts an hour and a half, who gives a shit about the white walkers, right, Cersei's the real threat, it's always been about the damn throne

Everything Davos said is similar to what Dany heard about Rhaegar
I would follow Jon Snow to the gates of hell, but only after Davros convinced me or Lady Mormont shamed me.
