I'd went flying an it still kept going good, even got a slow mo sidewalk kicker once just nicked another car an sidewalk. Did a front flip 360 lol in slowmo. My concerns the sound everything's great till yah driving a car then it becomes a Tesla. Iv had the game a while. First start may lag it out then it's fine. Btw my burnt xbox plays the graphics fine sometimes lol.
I tell yah need for speed heat wreaked my system a few spots. Middle of a night I started getting silver flashes on my screen or green then blue. Maybe white. Realize my xbox was so hot its burn you. Now its lifted in the air with lots of air lol. Get it going tho on that heat an it does heat up lmao

Just started replaying it today and I'm loving it just like I did the first time, sure the game was buggy and very repetitive but the story, voice acting and Lincoln Clay himself more than makes up for it not to mention New Bordeaux is an awesome setting.

Fantastic game with a really good depiction of the civil rights movement. It isn’t anything like 1 & 2 in the sense that it doesn’t have the generic gangster setting that we’ve seen in countless games & movies. 3 truly is something special
I love the cinematography, scenery, use of music, and story so much. It can get kind of repetitive but the gameplay is only really a complement to the story being told. Also the dlcs are absolutely amazing.

You can remove the repetitiveness by doing as much damage as needed to the racket. The city lighting I really loved it. If I'm thinking about it..one of the most beautiful open worlds imo. Cool review
I bought the trilogy its completely worth it all 3 comes in Definitive Edition with DLC guns and Cars and outfits. I love all 3 Mafia 3 is a good game people need to just stop thinking of the repetitive things and enjoy it. I love the shooting and driving it's fun as hell. The open city is bigger then I thought. But to be honest I seriously think mafia 1 definitive edition they did the best job. The city looks super detailed and amazing.
Same here. I bought the bundle that comes with all three games and started with Mafia 3 because i was curious if the reviews were right about it being mediocre. I ended up loving the hell out of it mainly because of the story and gameplay. The repetitive nature of the mission design honestly made sense considering the entire point of the game is to dismantle an asshole's empire piece by piece. I found it satisfying because you actually felt like a badass and it also helps that cutscenes would play out telling you how feared Lincoln was when all the chaos was happening.
Mafia 3 while suffering from a bit of open world bloat and repetition is a bit of a slept on gem imo, it's a surprisingly well realised world and has some solid acting at times too. Some of the performance issues are hard to overlook but it's worth a look especially going cheap.
I'd really like to play the Mafia games, especially the first one in its remastered version, just to live in that world for a while, but they never updated them for the new consoles so it's still 30fps. Maybe someday...thanks to the good review, as always!

I do think it’s hilarious after defending 30 fps for an entire gen all of a sudden console players straight up refuse to play at 30 fps anymore. Honestly though, these were a smooth 30, not really janky, and well worth your time. Either that or pick them up on PC if you have one as well, you can run them at 60 there with a capable rig.
I remember playing mafia 3 when it became free through ps plus and I gotta say the game on one hand had tons of bugs on release date, side missions were repetitive but the story and soundtrack are amazing the 60s vibe is definitely a great experience, all in all with the recent definite edition I think it's worth it
Mafia 3 was awesome! It’s kind of like how i feel about assassin’s creed games, seeing all the things I learnt in history class come to life in an open-world environment. There are plenty of gangster games with the same settings as 1 & 2 but 3 is one of a kind.

What I really liked about Mafia III were the good DLCs, that brought you actual a good story. The main story from Lincoln Clay was also intrigued, but I expected more, speaking of missing phsyics that you had in Mafia II but not in Mafia III.

I am from Louisiana and i always wanted a open world game inspired to our culture . I enjoyed the hell out this game . i got to come back and revisit the DLC
When i played it I really like the story and the history of what it was like being a black man in the 60's but the mission layout and repetitive content was so bad I wanted the game to end so badly I didnt even care to play any side missions. I love all the mafia games and I wish I love this mafia game more because it was a very important message to people that racism didnt die even today. It just hidden better
As I was playing this I kept thinking over and over how great it could’ve been if they spent an extra few months to polish the game. It’s a shame that a game with a great story and writing was held back by gameplay that was a little too shallow and rough around the edges
Held back by gameplay? What? The gameplay in this is awesome. The combat is meaty, and the driving is alright. It's just the repetitiveness. Not rough around the edges now. And i played it when the Definitive edition came out.
One thing that kinda annoyed me and took some time getting used too, was driving. I’d always mash the R2 button down and spin out or crash into something. It took a minute for me to get used to it, but it did make driving feel super realistic.

The world building is top-shelf, with incredible attention to detail, and hardly any noticeable asset re-use / copy paste. Combat feels good, but it is, as you said, quite repetitive after about 20 hours in. A very good addition to the Mafia series, and I am a little surprised it hasn't been reviewed more positively. It gave me a real sense of what it might have been like to black in the late 60s US; rather repulsive.

Have played this game many many times since it’s release: haven’t finished any other games except GOW/GOW Ragnarok in all these years. As a Black American born in NYC in the 70s, I grew up seeing weekly television shows like Like It Is, and then Eyes On The Prize, that showed the utterly disgusting and brutal truth of Segregation Laws in the South: add equally horrible criminal activity I thought made this game worthy of an award. The Definitive Edition has unforgivable bugs such as the game cutting out near the last battle, but It is still as fantastic as when I played it in 2017 (but even on my PS5, the glare HURTS🤣) Thank you for this!
Hanger 13 should've hired you for marketing. You make this flaming pile of garbage look and sound relatively fun. The enemy ai was so bad I actually felt bad for killing it. The weather was so glitched on launch I thought I was playing an apocalyptic sim. Also the repetition of the business capturing was such a chore it actually felt like a job
The 3 Dlc's mafia 3 got that you can play when playing the main campaign fill the game out nicely and help the middle part of the main game campaign on some much needed content and help breek up the mid game loop
For some reason, Mafia 3 reminds me of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. You are a guy who came to city to take vengance and you do it by recruiting people, building your empire and taking a city district by district. If that's the case, this sounds like a cool game.
Well said bruh..the absent of bikes and motorcycles was a huge letdown for a open world gta game..am sure there were bikes in the 60s..this is why I did not buy this game..but the gameplay, physics and the plot is much better than gta5
It’s got it’s fun, just don’t go into it thinking you’re playing anything that will match the 1st or 2nd game. It’s repetitive and can be mindless but it’s a fun story with a really good set of characters!
I think I should pick this one up again, I only completed about 30-40% if I remember correctly on PC. My PC was another one back then and it could barely handle the best settings which in the long run wasnt fun for me, but now that I got a new PC with a 3080 this could run it just fine on the best settings. I remember the game being fun and good, lacking in some areas, but still good.
The Definitive Edition is a disaster on PS5. Absurd pop in, inconsistent loading times, and washed out colors/shaders hidden only by occasional jagged glare. I thought Mafia 1 DE looked astounding. The worst thing is Mafia 3 lifts the veil on that game's visual shortcomings. Quite a few things transferred. I'm still having a blast for the soundtrack and driving alone. The DLC helps tremendously in narrative and gameplay variety. I never finished the vanilla release, but now I actually might.
When it comes to games of this nature i.e open world and very long then the advice would be buy it, play it for 20-30 hours over the course of a week or a few weeks then when you get hit with the feeling you are just being put through the filler sections and everything you do feels like you've done it before (and you will with this game because it really feels like the publisher/developers believed it wasn't long enough without the monotonous grind) where even the interiors look exactly the same regardless of where you are on the map then stop playing and don't play it again for about 3 months. When you come back it won't feel like filler and you'll actually enjoy the end game rather than begging for it to end lol. These games just aren't made to rush through and by doing so you not only make it into a chore for yourself, you miss a lot of stuff as well.
Today i just purchased Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition for Ps4. I got it for pretty cheap to at Gamestop. But I'm glad I got it because this video sparks my interest a whole lot more.
Madia 3 is dlwed, yes. But i have played it multiple times and got over 12 hours on it. It ia one of the most intruiging experiences you will have if you ply it slowly and for the story. Even for 60 bucks, its worth it
This was one of the most boring experiences of my life. The main missions are awesome, but the never ending secondary missions that YOU MUST finish to unlock the next campaign mission, its torture, you have to do like 40 times each of the four repetitive secondary missions.
I found the soundtrack to be so repetitive and nauseating, I wound up turning the radio off. I would hear "Palisades Park" at least 10-15 times in a one-hour gameplay session. Not only that, the radio stations make no sense. If you've got a station called WBYU, obviously that's going to be a bayou-themed station that should play (what they used to call) race records. But you'll hear the whitest of white artists like Roger Miller singing "King of the Road" on WBYU. It's like they just had one long playlist and changing radio stations just randomized where it would drop you in the playlist. There was no separation of genres like there should have been. I fully agree about the dulled-out color, too. The colours should have been vibrant and bright.

I mean c'mon.... we have a BLACK protagonist.... let's explore that. Let's hear the music Lincoln would have wanted to hear. WNBX would've been the middle of the road stuff.... WBYU should've been all the "race records" and WVCE blues & jazz. They also had the opportunity to license old Wolfman Jack broadcasts and would've been FUN to listen to old Wolfman Jack comedy bits on WNBX just for the white folks. ;) Sort of like how in L.A. Noire, I'd just park and listen to the radio!! They licensed full Jack Benny programs and all sorts of stuff. NOW, THAT was a game that had an immersive radio!!

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that whomever "programmed" the radio, had no idea what radio actually sounded like in 1968. It's a nice game but it becomes very repetitive. Every mission is basically the same. I still enjoy playing it but there were many better games coming out at that time

Currently playing the Definitive Edition on Xbox. It has this really annoying sound bug while driving, where engine sound completely cut out suddenly and sometimes never come back. All your hear is screeching tires. This ruins driving, especially since you have to travel quite far across the map from time to time. Known bug for multiple years, sadly it doesn't get fixed.
I sometimes get the same game on both consoles just to test them out and the xbox versions are always buggier and crash an insane amount of times. Weirdest thing is the games never run as smoothly either despite having better specs on paper

I'm a bit late to the game but so far I love it. Car mod's are so cool and the gun fights are so much fun. Great game I don't worry about the graphic's as long as the story is decent.

While the missions were repetitive, I liked the combat system, both in guns and hand to hand combat and the variety of finishers I can deal to enemies. But the story was fantastic. If only they made the story missions more uinique and fun like in the first hour of the game and none of the grinding repetitive nonsense, Mafia 3 would have been an absolute banger of a game.

Been playing Mafia since 2010. I remember playing this one when it came out and I was really disappointed. I feel like giving it a try again
Love the setting. Love the intro but after that, the missions felt like a grind. Like taking out the outposts in FarCry.
Also would mention the DLCs, you get them with the definitive edition and gotta say it really improves the game in many ways. Top tier DLCs

The Definitive Edition has unforgivable bugs such as the game cutting out near the last battle, but It is still as fantastic as when I played it in 2017 (but even on my PS5, the glare HURTS🤣)

Hanger 13 should've hired you for marketing. You make this flaming pile of garbage look and sound relatively fun. The enemy ai was so bad I actually felt bad for killing it. The weather was so glitched on launch I thought I was playing an apocalyptic sim. Also the repetition of the business capturing was such a chore it actually felt like a job

The 3 Dlc's mafia 3 got that you can play when playing the main campaign fill the game out nicely and help the middle part of the main game campaign on some much needed content and help breek up the mid game loop

For some reason, Mafia 3 reminds me of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. You are a guy who came to city to take vengance and you do it by recruiting people, building your empire and taking a city district by district.

Well said bruh..the absent of bikes and motorcycles was a huge letdown for a open world gta game..am sure there were bikes in the 60s..this is why I did not buy this game..but the gameplay, physics and the plot is much better than gta5

It’s got it’s fun, just don’t go into it thinking you’re playing anything that will match the 1st or 2nd game. It’s repetitive and can be mindless but it’s a fun story with a really good set of characters!

I think I should pick this one up again, I only completed about 30-40% if I remember correctly on PC.
My PC was another one back then and it could barely handle the best settings which in the long run wasnt fun for me,
but now that I got a new PC with a 3080 this could run it just fine on the best settings.
I remember the game being fun and good, lacking in some areas, but still good.

The Definitive Edition is a disaster on PS5. Absurd pop in, inconsistent loading times, and washed out colors/shaders hidden only by occasional jagged glare. I thought Mafia 1 DE looked astounding. The worst thing is Mafia 3 lifts the veil on that game's visual shortcomings. Quite a few things transferred.
I'm still having a blast for the soundtrack and driving alone. The DLC helps tremendously in narrative and gameplay variety. I never finished the vanilla release, but now I actually might.
Esides the fact the game look like it never finishes rendering...it's my number 1 game rn
When it comes to games of this nature i.e open world and very long then the advice would be buy it, play it for 20-30 hours over the course of a week or a few weeks then when you get hit with the feeling you are just being put through the filler sections and everything you do feels like you've done it before (and you will with this game because it really feels like the publisher/developers believed it wasn't long enough without the monotonous grind) where even the interiors look exactly the same regardless of where you are on the map then stop playing and don't play it again for about 3 months.
When you come back it won't feel like filler and you'll actually enjoy the end game rather than begging for it to end lol. These games just aren't made to rush through and by doing so you not only make it into a chore for yourself, you miss a lot of stuff as well.
Today i just purchased Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition for Ps4. I got it for pretty cheap to at Gamestop. But I'm glad I got it because this video sparks my interest a whole lot more.

I really have enjoyed all of the mafia games. Mafia 3 might be one of my favorites simply because of the open world and fantastic soundtrack!
Madia 3 is dlwed, yes. But i have played it multiple times and got over 12 hours on it. It ia one of the most intruiging experiences you will have if you ply it slowly and for the story. Even for 60 bucks, its worth it
This was one of the most boring experiences of my life. The main missions are awesome, but the never ending secondary missions that YOU MUST finish to unlock the next campaign mission, its torture, you have to do like 40 times each of the four repetitive secondary missions.
I hope mafia makes an online game to co op, a new version 20’s and 30’s like mafia 2 online

I found the soundtrack to be so repetitive and nauseating, I wound up turning the radio off. I would hear "Palisades Park" at least 10-15 times in a one-hour gameplay session. Not only that, the radio stations make no sense. If you've got a station called WBYU, obviously that's going to be a bayou-themed station that should play (what they used to call) race records. But you'll hear the whitest of white artists like Roger Miller singing "King of the Road" on WBYU. It's like they just had one long playlist and changing radio stations just randomized where it would drop you in the playlist. There was no separation of genres like there should have been.
I fully agree about the dulled-out color, too. The colours should have been vibrant and bright.

@@Respawnedgaming Oh don't get me wrong, I liked the music too, but for 1968 they left out a LOT of stuff. Very little Motown, No Sly Stone, No Four Tops, No Martha & The Vandellas.... I mean c'mon.... we have a BLACK protagonist.... let's explore that. Let's hear the music Lincoln would have wanted to hear. WNBX would've been the middle of the road stuff.... WBYU should've been all the "race records" and WVCE blues & jazz.
They also had the opportunity to license old Wolfman Jack broadcasts and would've been FUN to listen to old Wolfman Jack comedy bits on WNBX just for the white folks. ;)
Sort of like how in L.A. Noire, I'd just park and listen to the radio!! They licensed full Jack Benny programs and all sorts of stuff. NOW, THAT was a game that had an immersive radio!!
@@That_AMC_Guy Did you play the same game I did? There actually are songs by the Four Tops (Reach out) and Martha & the Vandellas (Nowhere to Run) in WVCE. Also WBYU is supposed to be the white man's station, playing country, pop and oldies mostly, the name being a reference to the bayou being the most rural area in the game. The "country"side, get it?

@@That_AMC_Guy The stereo thing is a bit odd, I agree, but the repetition is really the worst in WBYU (where Palisades Park is played), as it is the station with shorter songs and less of them compared to the other stations.
It's a nice game but it becomes very repetitive. Every mission is basically the same. I still enjoy playing it but there were many better games coming out at that time

I have had mixed feelings on Mafia 3 for years but I recently bought Mafia 3 the definitive edition as it was on sale for 10 dollars its too good to pass up
I like the mafia franchise but this one focuses a little to much on race and it's kind of hard to play personally.
Currently playing the Definitive Edition on Xbox. It has this really annoying sound bug while driving, where engine sound completely cut out suddenly and sometimes never come back. All your hear is screeching tires. This ruins driving, especially since you have to travel quite far across the map from time to time. Known bug for multiple years, sadly it doesn't get fixed.
I sometimes get the same game on both consoles just to test them out and the xbox versions are always buggier and crash an insane amount of times. Weirdest thing is the games never run as smoothly either despite having better specs on paper

How does this game play on ps5 or the new Xbox? I do find the glaring sunshine but I’d there much pop in or lag? It used to work fine on my ps4 pro and then it just turned to rubbish after the definitive update sadly

I'm a bit late to the game but so far I love it. Car mod's are so cool and the gun fights are so much fun. Great game I don't worry about the graphic's as long as the story is decent.

Just my own reshade settings. I think I used a mod to remove those huge turning signals that are on the roads when using GPS too.

@@arthurmorgan5053 I’m not sayin that Mafia 3 wasn’t a very flawed game, but there has just been worst games to have come out in 2016 that were way worse In disappointing gameplay and performance than Mafia 6.
While the missions were repetitive, I liked the combat system, both in guns and hand to hand combat and the variety of finishers I can deal to enemies.
But the story was fantastic. If only they made the story missions more uinique and fun like in the first hour of the game and none of the grinding repetitive nonsense, Mafia 3 would have been an absolute banger of a game.
