The Disappointment of Mafia 3

- When I heard Mafia 3 was in development, I was beyond excited. Unfortunately 2K Czech (developers of Mafia 1 and Mafia 2) weren’t leading development on this entry. Let’s talk about Hangar 13’s Mafia 3.

Thank you for watching!
While Mafia 3 was a disappointment (in my opinion) I think it still has some really good things going for it. I want to take this time to thank you all for the crazy amount of support on these non Ubisoft videos. Fun fact, this is one of the longest videos I've EVER created. Time to start working on a Mafia 2 video!
I loved the game
UbiCentral Cool now make a video talking about it how Mafia 2 was a disappointment.
@@JohnDonovan1968 Oh I'm making a video about how great Mafia 2 is. Sorry!

That scene in the bar when Paint It Black plays has to be the most powerful music choice in a game I’ve seen.
Yes, it is amazing😃
Wyatt Priwall hell yeah man!
Agreed
Yo bad the game was so shitty most people didnt get that far
@@Brrrrrt it was at the beginning lmao, if you didnt get that far you have no patience
I would have liked mafia 3 be vito’s story right after mafia 2.
Me to instead we got this very different from the first 2mafia games I would love one of Joe as protagonist tell his story of Mafia 2 how he made it as a Mafioso to be the next mafia game Mafia 4
Joe is a very great character
M.H GAMING I believe in diversity so I was and am still open for a black Protagonist from the south who has little to no mafia blood but also no ties to the Italian mafia besides association
@@spiritualwarrior864 Joe is still alive, maybe they can make spin off about what happend, when he seperate with vito and fake his own death for work with leo.
Jamar Sloan Jr diversity was forced into this game. I would have been fine playing as a member of the Chinese mafia. Black character could have explored the early crips and bloods fights
"Bushes are made of rock"
Ahhh...True Crime: Streets of LA bushes, we meet again.
lol
i loved that game as a child i remember being a bad cop and having the SWAT team always come after me but those bushes were like what made of concrete
True Crime had more charm that mess.
Level design from literally like 2003 lol
@@davidpurpleartist8125 haha i remember playing when i was a child at 6 or 7 and i got to the end of the first part of the story and couldnt progress because i killed so many pedestrians and couldnt be bothered to get back to good cop status.
The problem was the game was too long, the game could’ve been a 3rd of the length, the missions are just really repetitive
Play ubisoft games its repetitive too haha
@@playerunkown8699 Those have fun repetition. Mafia 3 is just a boring drag.
They are repetitive because the thing was to control rackets and stuff
E5A still repetitive, if I kick you in the nuts to “teach you about pain” I still kicked you in the nuts
@@99yearsago37 bad excuse. Mafia 2 did a way better job in mission designs. I just hope hangar 13 disappears and 2kCzech take the franchise again.
One thing that I feel is really overlooked in Mafia 3 is how interesting some of the conversations were among enemy NPCs. If you sneak around, you can hear them talking about their families, their political beliefs, and all sorts of things that made them feel like real people and added some weight to the hundreds of people Lincoln kills. The only problem was that you have to be stealthy to hear these conversations, and the stealth mechanics were really boring.
True. I like how they gave mafia 3 a country side to just drive crazy in. Best looking part of the map.
Walt Disney lmao
This is actually my favorite part of the game too. Also if you snuck up to the Racket Bosses, the brief personality shown in their bio really came to life (the speed freak Junior Holland spazzes out and kills his own second in command out of paranoia that he was in on the destruction). Wish there could be a collection of some of the stuff they said.
I actually would switch to non lethal to spare some of the guys I came across cause they said some genuinely sympathetic things.
@@dusty2080 Same. I spared the one thug who noted the hypocrisy of "separate but equal". When he woke up, he was the only survivor among a building of about 30 people.
I thought the stealth was the best part of the game.
It feels like 2K czech was creating a masterpiece and then hangar 13 quickly finished the rest hastely and badly.
Yeh ikr it's like there was an amazing game buried under all the glitches and poor design choices.
To be fair the first mission was a awesome rollercoaster..
Very true. The theme park was awesome, plus (SPOILERS) Doucet being hung from a Ferris wheel is cool as hell.
@@eatman8602 you can pray on the way up
@John Licon Mafia 4 is already confirmed
The story, atmosphere, cutscenes, and characters were amazing. The gameplay didn’t make me want to keep playing though.
I thought the game had potential to be good. I played 3 times. Great story, cutscenes, characters. It felt like a GTA game set in the 60's-70's. I never seen a game take place in New Orleans and they delivered.
I thought the game issue was;
1) Glitches and Bugs
2) Lack of Visual rendering
3) Boring shooting and fight mechanism, too much duck and cover.
Overall this game was rushed, I think if they had time to fix it would be much better.
The only reason I kept going was because the combat was amazing
Don P the gameplay is pretty decent like I know it’s not the best but pretty engaging for me but the thing is they didn’t have enough side missions to satisfy your needs lol
The mechanics of the gameplay (gun fights, driving) were all superb IMO.
@@auntythtski5667 on ps4 the stick movements have a lot of input lag so even that wasn't enjoyable for me
could you actually imagine crafting a masterpiece that was universally loved by fans and critics so you start on the squeal to continue the story YOU started then after 3 years it gets completely scrapped and a new studio takes over and ruins everything you loved and created
This. I can imagine the few 2k Checz workers didn't really enjoy it.
And then all the modern PC baloney in it... Chezcs don't appreciate that
For the love of god bring back mafia 2 remake and then give us a real mafia 3 is it that difficult
Whoa, is it true? If i remember correctly, in economics lesson, if something already exists (in this case 2k chezh assets), no need to scrap or throw everything away. Just need tweak and polish the assets, then release. Why 2k suddenly change and replace all the assets with entirely new studio? Thats a big no.

The game expanded my musical tastes and knowledge significantly. Probably the most epic soundtrack since GTA San Andreas.
What about rdr2
Hosea Matthews he means radio soundtracks. GTA SA and Mafia 3 unlike RDR2 barely have any original soundtrack to them.
I prefer the mafia 2 empire central

When playing you can tell at what point the story gets “stretched”
Intro: story heavy
Main game: “what’s a story”
Ending: little bit of story that you haven’t really cared about for hours
weeks*
Main Game: kill people and blow shit up!
DLC: have tons of fun that wasn’t in the main game
It's go from Mafia story to disarm Nuke in the DLC. They're really try to combine MGS and Uncharted in the end.
It’s soo sad how true this is :( it was free on psnow awhile back and I was soo hyped when the backstabbing bar scene happened. I was all like “Ooooh FUCK this is gonna be soo fucking COOL!” Thhhheeeen you get stuck just doing jobs over and over... and over... aaannnnnddddd over again...

You're right, the last one ends with a bang.
I feel like they spent all this time creating a quite large open world but filled it with crappy side missions

Mafia 3 try ubisoft game making by adding a lot of side activities which out of place for a Mafia game.
Most of the gameplay just felt like an endless grind for the great cutscenes
This game would’ve made a great movie though
It's not too late lol
Morgan Freeman should be Father James just so he can narrate the story
Damn true
Fozza or Morgan freeman
Man kills gangsters for revenge. Yeah it'd be so original!
It really pissed me off that we couldn’t have our own mafia, with our bois, our qg, our casinos etc etc
You just do not feel like you are building and running an empire
Alduine like The Godfather game
I agree with you,, would've been great if you played as vito but have ur own mafia be able to create a bigger one,, invest money.. And maybe play as another character (like the 3 options in gta 5) that does all the missions for vito and is very active in the mafia (cause thinking about it mafia bosses dont really do much which leads to a boring game, so adding another character with a hitman story would spice it up a bit more) i def agree adding those things would make it feel more like a mafia
That was never what the series was about - that's a Saints Row kinda thing - Mafia was always about disempowerment. Vito and the original guy (forget his name at the moment) felt like bigshots because they were in the mob, rising stars - but eventually they realize that they'd always been pawns in a bigger machine. The same is even more obvious with Lincoln Clay - it's just not that kind of series.

@@mrnat3058 , mafia 1 remastered would be alright as well. Graphics should be as good as RE 2 remake though
Ross mathias and also all of the features and mechanics should be maintained, maybe even improved/expanded on due to technological progress since then. perhaps implement some of the tech and features from mafia 2 which were not in mafia 1.
although this would not only require a significant market demand for a remake, but the proper devs would need to perform the remake so it does not end up like mafia 3.
I’m going to be honest, this is one of my guilty pleasure games. I definitely understand the repetitive nature of the game being an absolute chore, but the music and taking down the mob bosses kept bringing me back. I loved the levels where you actually got to kill the mob bosses, but I understand everything in between
Ethan Richardson and the story was amazing.

I also enjoyed the game, the mission in the old amusement park with a sniper rifle, and some of the side missions doing stealth, they where great. Oh, and burning the Grand Dragon KKK guy on a cross, THAT was a masterpiece. BUT, this game NEVER EVER should have called "MAFIA".
Terry Mcgee disagree it’s a mafia game because it’s about organized crime it’s just not about Italian organized crime witch is okay but it’s still a mafia game.
Terry Mcgee Here we go with people thinking “Mafia” should only be Italian guys in suits lol
The disappointment for me WAS THE BUGS THAT PREVENTED ME FROM EVER FINISHING THE GAME!🤬
The missions didn't load for you as well?
i was about 70 percent done and my save file corrupted so i had to do everything again
xcaluhbration never did I run into those kinda bugs when I played through

Lol
Forza past 3 were never good.
Can't imagine the *amazing* game we would've gotten had 2K had patience for 2K Czech and waited a few more years. You can't just hand over a title to a group of random people, most of which had never even played the previous games, and expect them to do a good job with it. It's not their baby, their passion, they were just tasked with it.
I see that 2K opened two Hangar 13 studios in the Czech Republic now, so perhaps bringing back some 2K Czech people to make Mafia 4 a proper Mafia game.
They opened only one in Prague but there is not many people. I think the second jsut missunderstanding that they moved the former one in Brno just to different building. :) Also i know some people from the studio they are all very passionate people that love mafia series but 2K is sadly sitting on the back of the studio too much :/
Irkaja Really? How many people are there?
2K Czech had their chance with Mafia 2, which took 7 years and it’s still in an unfinished state. I don’t agree with 2K’s decision but it’s a sensible one.
The two Hangar 13 studios in Czechia are just former 2K Czech studios, they've got merged to Hangar in 2017, I believe (And if the leaks are true, they are working on Mafia 2 Remastered).
@@Streetw1s3r between 100-200 people :)
They should have named this game “Mafia: New Bordeaux”, or something. It wasn’t worthy to be called Mafia 3. We wanted more Vito and Italian style mob, like the first games. The story in the 2nd instalments was so good and deserved a continuation.
Petter so pretty much you was mad that a black guy was the main character
Your prejudice is showing.
300bagszn Otf he kinda has a point tho
300bagszn Otf this game would’ve been better if it was a spin-off
Day Be Trippin yes, the Vito and Joe stories were too good to just ignore. We deserved to find out what happened to Joe and what Vito did. Not just by some cutscenes of small talk.
Morgan Freeman should've been Father James,
This should have been a movie,
It shouldn't have been an open-world game,
The takeover missions could have been less repetitive,
They could have honored Vito better by portraying him with the intelligence he had in the previous game,
It could have been connected to the mafia more.
Just let us become a Mob Boss in Mafia 4, control things for once.
It would have been a crappy b movie.
Frank Hardy no it actually wouldn’t be a B movies because the story for mafia 3 was great.
Its Cheq they did honor video better in the game he was older and more wiser if anything and more smarter.
Tommy De Sadi I’d agree with that
@Tommy De Sadi Appreciate it
I'll always remember "that" bar scene 😍 was phenomenal, music was perfect too
All went downhill after that unfortunately.
Darius Jacobs hard not to agree bcs thats one of my favorite part
When the cut scenes and music are more interesting than the gameplay because the gameplay is repetitive there lies the major problem with Mafia lll. If it wasn't for the repetitive gameplay and shallow depth for the lieutenants Mafia lll could've been a classic.
Keith Harper shallow depth of the underbosses they all had depth and a reason for what they were doing so again that’s not really true and the gameplay is repetitive but it’s still solid.
@@vishansilva8546 the gameplay system is not solid at all (not the "you can call backup and stuff" thats pretty dope and you really feel like an mafia boss) the stronghold repetition bullshit one is too garbage to the point it feels worse than chore. If the story, the music, and the atmosphere is not good, this pile of garbage will be on par with 1990 children's pc game because oh my god it suck so bad. The reason why it's mixed is just because the story is damn good, all of the character is great especially donovan that bastard really carry the game for me. lincoln personality though is a bit flat and a bit too punkish but overall he's alright since the flat part kinda expectable because he's a game protagonist. Seriously if they change the stronghold bullshit to something more story based like the ship one, boy oh boy the game will be one hell of a sequel
I love baked beans That’s my opinion personally I felt the gameplay although repetitive I enjoyed the hell out of it because of the amazing gun play and combat mechanics with the Rambo knife personally it’s still had some of the elements of being a boss but I get what your saying I don’t think the rackets are all that repetitive because it’s only repetitive when you do all the missions on the map in that area when you only have to do the main racket missions that killed the repetition for me if anything and the side missions were more repetitive if not anything in my opinion those were really bad but I think Lincoln was amazing protagonist he’s number 2 where Vito was 1 Lincoln had depth some of the scenes he had he convey of the most best emotions he wasn’t this serious brute all the time he had down time where he laughed smiled and showed charm plus the scene with and sal marcano at the end was amazing it gave me chills the game is still story based but I se what your saying.
@@vishansilva8546 what i mean by flat is since he's the main character it's a bit hard for the game to make lincoln has some personality progression, well because again he's a game protagonist unless its really linear like GoW or even Mafia II you won't get any personality progression because of the game choices etc. Yeah for fighting mechanic it is improved from mafia II (except the A.I), the problem with the side mission is that some boss require you to take down that area stronghold so sometimes you are forced to do the "chore" part, and that is where people become mixed
I love baked beans I think Lincoln had plenty of personality in mafia 3 tbh especially him as character you saw him be serious but he had some of the best chemistry with Donovan so he showed to be a really good character and I loved how the game shows the question of morality and yeah I can see what your saying in that sense with the characters stronghold missions.
I love this game but I always find it ridiculous how you are the new ‘don’ yet random grunts are like ‘go here and collect my moonshine.’ How is this the work of a don? Plus as Lincoln doesn’t actually hold any territory or rackets nor soldiers his lieutenants really hold all the power.
Exactly lol
JBalshaw that’s not true Lincoln controls the city his underbosses control the rackets and they kick up a percentage to Lincoln and he gets whatever perc he wants.
Vishan Silva what I’m saying is that whilst the underbosses report to Linocln without the underbosses he would be useless and has no real control over them, they have the men to control the rackets and they are the ones that provide him with income via kicking up profits, the three capos could easily whack Lincoln upon taking control of the city and they’d be just as well off. Edit: as demonstrated by the endings where Lincoln leaves the city.
JBalshaw yeah but think about Lincoln was helping them for the long run because them alone wouldn’t be able to take down marcano that’s why Lincoln needed there help and they needed Lincoln because of his skills so he got a profit for everything they got from getting the territory’s I think mafia 3 they needed each other to take down marcano.
Vishan ok, but John Gotti never did bullshit jobs after he became the boss. A boss doesn’t do those types of things. It made no sense.
Lincoln: *whispers behind the door
Enemy: I swear I heard something
Lol, and even if they see you you got like one second to hide so they can forget about you

I loved the cut scene dialogue, it was so funny and memorable, but the game play was entertaining at only certain times.
Donovan was definitely my favorite!
I honestly can't remember a single scene or line. Then again the side missions were so boring I only played through a third or so
@@jackoberto01 I remember the part where, I think it was Burke, where he was saying that he was a cockroach, "KING COCKROACH".

Great video! I was so let down with this game, simply based on the repetitiveness of the missions. However, the major cutscenes made up for it. Along with tying in Mafia 2 characters and the whole Joe mystery. While I was let down with the game, maybe my expectations were too high because Mafia 2 was such an AMAZING game. Today at the Take-Two earnings call it was said Hangar 13 is working on a new game - presumably Mafia 4. If that's the case, I hope the delivery brings back that Mafia 2 feel but better.
Thank you for the kind words! We have to realize this was Hangar 13's first game ever, and they actually wanted more dev time but 2K wouldn't allow it (because the game had been worked on for 6 years in total). Yep mafia 2 was my all time fav for a long time, but recently i tried Witcher 3 and i can't stop playing it xD
The first Mafia on PC is better. It was amazing when it released but still overshadowed by GTA. It took what made GTA fun but implemented more realism into it, and an amazing story on top of that. I played Mafia 2 on PS3 when it released and didn't get the same feeling. Obviously it's a great game, but it's not as good as Mafia 1.
@fedner simeon mafia 3 is far from being a masterpiece lmfaoo
fedner simeon You clearly havent played Mafia 1 and 2. Mafia 3 has repetitive missions and pretty awful story, whilst Mafia 1 and 2 both have unique stories but are still linked. Not to mention the story of both games go way more in-depth and you actually feel like you are the character.

In my opinion the filler missions( missions which are between main story missions) are kind of repetitive otherwise i loved the game and other thing is the destruction physics which is much better in mafia 2. I really hope the make a 4th one.
I was always holding out for a mod or a cheat or a savegame that would allow me to cut all the boring, repetitive open world stuff so that I could focus exclusively on the story missions. Because from what little I played when it released, the story is worth playing through.
It had a decent story just way too repetitive I love the way the gun play feels especially the shotguns not as good as much mafia 2 but I can see what they were going for.At it’s core it still has many themes the first 2 mafia games had in the beginning in terms of family and the false lure of loyalty when it comes to sal Marciano. Also the harmonica in the battle soundtrack makes it feel like something is really going down in Louisiana

Its because of the difference in cultures of the two studios. American studio went all out with the shooting and driving while 2k Czech liked doing the small details. Plus they rushed the game. A shame.

Honestly, everything about this game minus the gameplay loop is really good.... but man.... it was a slog to get through.
This was a great video Brett, Mafia 3 had so much potential and it such a shame how it was totally dragged down by so many issues.
LazerzZ yess true but after the launch the game did got patched up but it’s not as bad as people say tbh the game to me is better know then it was at launch.
Love your videos
This game broke my heart, I have never been more excited for a game especially from watching the trailers... So much potential, amazing story, soundtrack and world... Only to do the same shit over and over.
Honestly, I enjoyed Mafia III. But yes, the gameplay really cut corners and kept this entry from the greatness it deserved. The most disappointing aspect was that, for a story that was supposed to be about your character building an empire of crime, there were almost no side activities that actually fed into this theme. How much more interesting would it have been if each faction had its own "business" opportunities for you to engage in? Like maybe Vito's crime family would ask you to settle some disputes with people refusing to pay protection money or the Haitians need some assistance distributing food and other essentials in Delray Hollow to help build their relationship with the community. Maybe the degree to which these activities were done well might affect how each faction favors Lincoln's role as boss, and if one faction gets dissatisfied enough, they could declare war on him (which honestly makes more sense to me than having your lieutenants get angry when you don't give them enough territory, which just comes across as a pretty shallow way to show their relationship with Lincoln). Adding more activities could also be a way to introduce some new characters, provide extra development for existing ones, build up the game's lore, and ultimately distinguish it from its predecessors, which was obviously what 2k had in mind but never quite figured out. Ah well, let's hope the remaster has something more to offer.
The gameplay was amazing as fuck. It was just repetitive. But honestly the game was great
I loved Mafia 3, I mean I played it twice. I made the repetitiveness a challenge, for example, when clearing a building only try knife kills or try to go undetected or headshots with the silenced pistol. Where I thought it was lacking was in the story development with the side characters, vito, burke, etc.. It would have been cool to have some romance options. Overall I really liked it and the issues it did have weren't enough to keep me away.
I wish they released a remastered version of Mafia 2
I would cream

EDIT: I didn't have all the bugs you mentioned even though I played at launch and yeah I was a little concerned on how they treated Vito
Personally, I loved this game I didn't think it was disappointing, it certainly was different from the previous two games but I think their attempt at changing the formula was nice even though it felt a bit repetitive at times. I started with Mafia 3 so I guess it makes sense why I didn't find it so disappointing but after getting the trilogy and playing through them all I can say they all have their pros and cons but overall are fantastic games that capture their times very well. I'm grateful to hanger 13 for these amazing games!
For me this game was a classic case of “the previous game was excellent but we need it appeal to more people...” Hand the game over to a different studio and let it slide from there. I honestly don’t know why developers do this.
duffsman316 lack of class. Money
@@petroleumcrypt707 EA & activision fucked it for us all 😂😂😂
Not always the developers choice
I disagree. Mafia 2 - from a gameplay and story perspective - had wide appeal. It was successful, what decisions did they make to appeal to more people in Mafia III exactly?
I think the new studio brought with it a new perspective, they tried new ideas and they didn't work out - simple as that. When a game bombs it's not always because the devs were money-grubbing. Sometimes they're just wrong.
Fuzzy Dunlop fair point. But I felt making it more open world was a bid to appeal to a wider audience, on a scale like that of rockstar titles. Mafia 2 was widely received, but for sequels there is always the “got to make it bigger” mentality. I know that chances are they could have failed making it on the same formula as mafia 2 but the much more sizeable open world of 3 was too distracting at times and a little too big for its own good. Mafia 2 has a decent sized city with a few collectibles to add a bit exploration and charm, but the main focus was the story. This made it stand out against the rest for me, my personal opinion.
The game that had the best interstices with npc’s in my opinion in RDR2

Seems like Hanger 13 really learned from their mistakes with this game when it comes to Mafia Definitive edition.
How?
@@a-10thunderboltii24, it's a much better game
I still find Mafia definitive edition to be super buggy and have framerate issues atleast on ps4 other then that no problem besides lack of openworld activites
@@dankgames4117 it's also I brand new game that came out during 2020 so the bugs are kinda to be expected
I’m just glad they kept it mostly true to the original and didn’t implement gimmicks like x-ray vision, “bullet time” driving and car tuning. Those are kind of a turn off for me in Mafia 3. I like the vision thing in hitman, I like the slow motion in Max Payne/Midnight Club and car tuning in, well, Midnight Club, but I always liked Mafia for its story and how everything in the game is focused on that. They borrowed mechanics from other games without really questioning them. Mafia 3 doesn’t really know what kind of game it wants to be, while at the same time trying to please everyone and that hardly ever works out. The remake is far superior, even though there are less possibilities, but in that case, less is more and that’s something the Mafia 3 story could have benefited from.
I only had one bug of falling out of the map in the DE, but honestly, I rather have a well designed game with bugs than a badly designed bug free game. Bugs can be fixed and while it’s annoying to load up a disc and have to download 8 GB before being able to play it, if the gameplay is bad, it’s even worse and no download can fix that.
The game was great the only mistake they made was naming it " Mafia 3"
Yes.
TheChampDMan z no it’s a mafia game because it’s about organized crime so obviously there gonna name it mafia 3.
@@vishansilva8546 Mafia is not about "organized crime". It's about the Mafia.. as in, the Italian-American Mafia/Cosa Nostra.
Mafia III is a revenge story with the Mafia and Vito Scaletta shoe-horned in.
Effy Goodwin sorry to tell you this but the word mafia now means more then just the Italians mafia although the word originated in Sicily the word has expanded to mean more then that and mafia 3 isn’t just a revenge story it’s about taking over the city with your underbooses and Vito wasn’t shoe horned in.
@@effygoodwin37 I actually like what they did. The game was very much about the Mafia. But this time you were taking it down one guy at a time instead of being a member.
I remember putting the game in, playing it and being really disappointed it was just a grind to collect rackets and districts.
"Pray on the way up" IMO The best line in the game.

Mafia 3 was pretty bad, the main story missions literally all have the exact same structure and objective, the game has little to no customization for weapons and clothes, the world is empty, the story is unrelated to the pre cursors. Game was just bad, it had good graphics and generic gunplay. Makes me think what did they spend so long working on, cuz it's bare bones. Even the world is small, man I'm sorry but fuck that game lmao

Lol, ya'll bitches in the replies gotta stop crying, it wasn't a good Mafia game, but it WAS a good video game, it definitely deserves a 7/10 at least, it was nowhere near Mafia 2, but it was fun, and that's the most important thing about a video game imo, sure it gets repetitive, but are ya'll really saying the game isn't fun at all? You entitled whitney bitches need to stop crying your asses out. If you think Mafia 3 is a really big "disappointment" you don't know what Fallout 76 is.
Mafia 2 will always be the highlight of the series even if there wasn’t enough stuff to do outside the story. Mafia 3 had potential but it was way too repetitive and lacked enough story and the small details and interaction that made Mafia 2 stand out.
The story was good. I hope they have something new on development take another crack at it.
I think everyone hoped that Mafia 3 would start where mafia 2 ended, that open ending was perfect for mafia 3... I loved and still love mafia 2, I never played and will never play mafia 3. Let's just hope there will some day be a mafia 4 that will be as good and addictive as mafia 2 was.
Vitos story was already told, what's the point of milking a chacrater ? That sounds like some marvel bs

I quite loved Mafia 3, despite all its flaws
At least Hangar 13 kinda did their thing with Mafia 1 definitive edition, at least in my opinion anyway.
I’m probably in the minority when I say this but I loved mafia 3 the story was unique and amazing for a revenge tale and it’s still mafia game at then end of the day especially with the groups and the way the music the characters the journey was just awesome and the 60’s backdrop for New Orleans was amazing I personally didn’t find the game repetitive because the racket missions was only was for a certain amount of missions till you kill the main racket boss you don’t have to all the missions on the map it’s only a certain amount.
You are not alone. Radio stations were great, the setting was great, the cutscenes were riveting and looked great, the characters were well acted, the story was a nice refresh away from the typcial mafia games and stories (from movies and videogames) and the repetition wasn't too bad because it was nice to mix up different play styles and strategies.
Vishan Silva I agree did it have some flaws yes? But so does every game I reckon Hangar 13 could make a quality Mafia 4 game because of the potential I saw in Mafia 3 and they seemed to have learned from some of the mistakes and rectified them in the DLC’s hopefully it’s the same writers team 2 as the story was written brilliantly
The problem with mafia III, was I didn’t feel like I was playing a mafia game at all
To be fair theres only 2 of them before this one tho

Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is one of my favorite games. It wasn't that successful, bc GTA 3 was released before that (still an amazing game). Mafia II was a masterpiece, unfortunately, a lot of things weren't finished. Still was an amazing game though and I loved it. Mafia III had something missing. It isn't the same experience. I hope the next game will be better
Danny Wilcock the farm in the rain with a shotgun was tense, great game.

You can tell that if your current outfits switches to default outfit in cutscenes
You’re right on the money about what’s to like about the game, and what’s to dislike. It wasn’t completely finished nor polished, but from what they Gave it seemed decent enough for a play through. But after finishing the game I never touched it again
I loved the story, missions were fun out of the repetitive missions, the shooting felt extremely smooth and satisfying, stealth was too easy, still fun. Graphics were mediocre (could’ve looked so much better) - repetitive missions really ruined the story, however it is still worth it to play through, but maybe not again.
6.5-7/10
Mafia 3 was a great game. Yes it did have bugs and glitches that really made the game a bit boring including the missions that were to repetitive. Thank God I did give this game a second chance. The only thing I do praise is the setting, the story, the music and how realistic the game was. I’ll say the mafia series is an underrated franchise including it’s two predecessor. To this day, it still a good game in my opinion and I don’t care if people who hate it.

The Cutscenes in Mafia 3😍🔥
These were made by Czech part of Hangar 13
@@vojtechsvaricek1863 who cares ? It's hangar 13, czech or American
I never played the first two Mafia games. So I don't have anything to compare M3 to. I generally agree with your take. I did find it to be repetitive a lot of times, especially when going into buildings. I felt like, for the most part, if you saw the interior of one place you had basically seen the interior of pretty much all of them. I thought that was kind of disappointing. The repetitiveness of the scenery and the missions would probably have driven me away from finishing the game. However, for the most part, I appreciated the story. Loved the creepy Baron Saturday mission and effing up folks at that Klan rally. Got a perverse pleasure in throwing people in the bayou and watching them get eaten by gators for some reason. And me being a girl and little bit shallow, I liked the Lincoln character and thought he was hot. So that made me stick around. However, the music is what kept me playing until the end. I don't know how many times I literally had to stop and pull over the car just so I could sit and savor Steppenwolf's "Desperation." And I especially loved how the drive to the final boss mission had a remixed version of one of the songs playing on the radio, and that's all you could listen to. The first time I played it, I heard this really bad ass version of "Bad Moon Rising," and it made me go and purchase it on iTunes afterwards. The second time I played, it was a heavy metal version of some other song whose name I don't remember. The soundtrack was flames all around.
I really loved mafia 3 and played it like 4 times mate. It was more like a arcade. Enjoyed and chilled by playing it. No overthinking required while driving or killing
The ending is where it hit me that this game could've been something so great, but it was dragged and stretched thin at parts with repetitive, uninspired gameplay. It was emotional, specially the quotes, and I think it's where the writers tried their best to compensate for such an odd "Mafia" game.
I also very much agree with you on the setting, the music, the era and environment are quite immersive and interesting, but it doesn't change the fact that the world feels rather shallow otherwise.
The game was still very fun, good shit music, and amazing cutscenes
