Great tutorial, however when I tried, my crop marks don’t print! I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, they appear on screen but not on paper. Any clues?

I followed the steps you did when you saved your file as PDF. However, i can't click the option convert to destination preserve numbers :(

Why I have to make the text as a vector (create outline) in order to save my work in AI format? I didn't see you do it. I'm using AI CS6, does it work like that in this version?

We use Adobe creative cloud, so every time there is a new version of illustrator, it is updated.

Adobe suite (illustrator, photoshop etc) work on both Windows and Apple (MAC) operating systems

We have about 6 laser printers ranging from Oki to Konica Minolta.
Eternal Stationery what do you suggest for home printing?
It is difficult to recommend a home printer as there are many brands of laser printers that work well with foiling and prices vary drastically. Every printer has its pros/cons and capabilities. The type of printer to purchase would be subject to your individual needs: what you needed to print, what papers you would use (and the weight), how many prints you would make and how much you are willing to spend. I would recommend a laser printer that can print CMYK.

Yes, we always use Indesign. It is wonderful and works great with incorporating illustrator and photoshop files. It is completely different than illustrator, much more advanced! Enjoy your time learning and creating.
I've been following your tips for some time now & appreciate your work. But I was doing a test print and an 8 x 10 document I created and it says it wants to print as an 8.9 x 10.9inch , using .125 bleed & the .083 trim that I set in illustrator. (Printing in adobe acrobat) I cannot find for the life of me why this is doing this. Any ideas?? Thank you if you see this! ❤
Have you tried printing and seeing the final size? Some printers usually leave a little bit for a margin around the page but when printed at 100% or actual size it is the correct size.
Yes 😕 I've measured before and after cutting. Upon further research, I read some printers don't print to the 'actual size' (opened in Acrobat Reader) than created, but extend slightly when using borderless option. If I uncheck it, then you can't see crop marks. Its driving me bananas. But thank you for your response. And again your videos 😁
How do you create watercolor florals from scratch? Everyone downloads other pictures. I want to learn how to "make" the flowers.. awesome video 😊😊
Update: I just finished an Adobe illustrator class at the college I my town.. I still don't know how to make them from scratch. I'm lost lol. Although I Got an A in the class somehow.
I also have been going crazy trying to find out how to do this. I don't want to have to purchase sets and such, I want to make my own, but I have no clue how to search for a how-to or where to start. If you figure it out I would love an update!
you can create it from doing drawing first out of a piece of paper and a pencil, then take a picture out of it using smartphone or camera, trace it using pen tool in illustrator, then color it the way you wanted, after that you import it then to photoshop and add some threshold effect to add texture to it, and you can download some grunge and other texture from google, overlay it on top and voila you got your own flower design.
I know your post was a long time ago but I am hopeful you can help me. I purchased some high resolution files to use to make a wedding invite. Each image has a transparent background. Howeever I need to combine several of the images to get the look I want. Can I use Adobe Illustrator to do this? If so, I will purchase Illustrator then see if I can figure out how to do it. I just want to make sure AI is the correct program to do it BEFORE I buy it!!

Hi there, yes, AI can do what you need. Just make sure you save the file as transparent to keep the transparent background.

It depends what you will be using it for. If you want to make your own invitations, I recommend word. If you are making invitations professional, I recommend Adobe illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. There are other programs in the market but we stick to these ones.
