You said the other day that you had to room to make a full album reaction to SMiLE. Since the album is split into three sections c can you do one of each, to make the videos shorter? Jamal, you don’t understand how great this album is. Brian Wilson presents SMiLE will make you change the way you see music forever
The keyboard player is a legend, the great Paul Shaffer. He was the band leader for the Letterman show, here with Sid McGinnis on guitar, Will Lee on bass, Anton Fig on drums and David Sanborn on sax. Shaffer is well known for his fairly campy style and crazy clothes.
They are both not with us. Eddie was an incredible performer and to add Ronnie's iconic Be My Baby to the song was brilliant! This was a very energetic performance by Eddie! RIP to them !
Oh yes... the years of well-dressed Robert Palmer, Huey Lewis & The News, Hall & Oates... mens' shops loved those years, selling nice suits and ties galore...
Lol. So right. All kinds of suits and jackets. Until the new millinia, fashion ran on 20 year retro cycle, so the 70's imitated the 50's, the 80's imitated the 60's and so on.
God bless Eddie and Ronnie. Eddie was the real deal. I took my wife to see him twice one year, did a meet and greet both times, then my wife got to see him near her parents house later that year. Eddie signed her 3rd autograph, "Are you following me? Eddie Money" She prizes that one above the rest. :-)
Thanks for showing this. They were both great artists. I'm glad they left us a part of themselves. Love this song!!!❤R.I.P to Both of them.❤ Piano player Paul Schaffer of David Letterman loves Ronnie from when she was in the Ronettes. Yes, she's in the video too!
I have such fond memories of this song for so many reasons. I'm 60 years old and I remember Eddie's first LP being one of the first 10 albums I ever bought in my life(I was in high school). I also remember being one of the millions who had a crush on Ronnie since the first time they saw her. I was thrilled when this collaboration happened. I live in NYC and the big rock station wnew-fm was featuring Eddie Money is the headliner at their New Year's Eve concert which I had tickets to. And the whole time I was driving there I asked my wife, I wonder if Ronnie Spector is going to show up for that song? And you know what, she did! It was awesome
Love this song! I live in Reno NV and the official video was filmed at the arena on the university’s campus. The song is played at the end on every basketball game as we exit the arena.
Brother Jamal: I had to laugh too. But what a great song ! RIP to two greats. Eddie was a performer. Ronnie Specter was a beautiful woman with a great voice bro. Thanks for that reaction my brother from another mother. Let's keep on keeping the greatest music alive !
The lettermen house band was one of the great late night bands, and bands in general. The music director, keyboardist, and the lead singer was Paul Shaffer, a wildly talented musician, and the co-writer of "It's Raining Men." Seeing these two perform brings a tear to my eye. #GoneTooSoon.
The whole point of the song is a reference to the Ronettes' hit "Be My Baby", where Ronnie Spector sings "Be by little baby, oh, oh, oh, oh". That's why Eddie Money's lyrics are "Just like Ronnie sang...", and then Ronnie pipes in with "be my little baby". And then Paul Shaffer (on the piano) does the move that Jamel is laughing at, which is taking us back to the sound of the 60s. The whole thing is brilliant.
The effort to get her to sing on this track led to her releasing an album of her own called "Unfinished Business" after being out of music for years. The single "Who Can Sleep" from that album featured Eddie Money.
Paul Shaffer (on keyboards) is quite the goofball. He was in the band on Saturday Night Live for many years, and can be seen in a number of sketches, hamming it up -- my favorites being where Bill Murray played a stereotypical lounge singer (one memorable sketch featured him singing the theme to Star Wars). Then of course Paul was David Letterman's "second banana" and comic foil for all the years that Letterman was on the air, in all of his late-night shows -- Paul's band was at first called "The World's Most Dangerous Band" and then when Dave's show moved to CBS, they were called "The CBS Orchestra" (both obviously very tongue-in-cheek).
Letterman always booked the musicians that he loved and respected. I always looked forward to his musical guests. Paul Schaeffer is a legend in the music industry. Thanks for this one!
This song reminds me of my lil cuz. He would sing this song as we was on job sites out of nowhere and I’d sing the Ronnie part lol it would drive the rest of the crew crazy. Rest In Peace Matty B
Ronnie Spector sang the same line in 1963: "Be My Baby" - The Ronettes. UA-cam "The Ronettes - Be My Baby / Shout (4k)" for Ronnie Spector's best live version of it.
That's in there recording from a TV. the Buzz is the sound of the Rasta high voltage on old TV sets from back in the day's a magnetic mic would pick it up during your recording. My girl Ronnie Spector. I was a little little kid so in love with her. And wow. a very Young David Sanborn on Saxophone. That's a old show. This was TV back in the day. She was born in upper Manhattan NY. Every AM radio station back in that day played that song. RIP Ronnie. She just passed away in January this year.
Not only was Ronnie a doll, but I always thought Eddie was damn cute too! Maybe not in a traditional way, but he had those soulful boyish eyes! Just adorable!
So privileged to see the "Money Man" at my favorite bar, because one of his guitar players was from here. I've been to a lot of concerts but that was a great night🤘😎🤙🤙
I like to call him Edward Currency, I saw this when it originally played, wasnt a huge late night fan but must have been one of those nights there was nothing else on. I also saw these two accept a music award or present once that was memorable.
Eddie's reality show was called Real Money. If you watched it, then you know 3 of his kids were in his band. Sons Dezmond and Julian, and daughter Jessica.
This song did not come out until 1985. He did have several other hits prior to this one, like, "Two Tickets to Paradise" He performed at SUNY Geneseo around 1982. That's when I saw him live!!!
Love that the sound quality wasnt that good. Its just like a old vinyl record. Super cool. 🎸🎶😁👍 i still have 200 vinyl record and pick-up player. Greets jacco from Holland 🇳🇱
I've said it before and I say it again, Sister Ronnie, Estelle, and Nedra sang the perfect pop song, Be My Baby. But Take Me Home Tonight comes awful close! RIP Veronica Bennett Spector and Edward Mahoney.
Hi Jamel aka Jamal. Thank you for your positivity and overall good human being vibes. I wish we could all be like you so that we could all look past skin color and realize that we are one race the human race. The world would be a much better place if we could get on your level. Keep doing what you do and thank you for being you!
Jamel, I was crying and laughing at the same time; watching this with you. Thank you for finding this clip! I’ve been listening to this song for 37 years and learned today from a video of Ronnie Spector ‘s horrific life with Phil, that the line ”Just like Ronnie sang” refers to her! Two legends, Eddie and Ronnie, RIP. ❤ ua-cam.com/users/shortsFIYmU-Dq77c?feature=share
The late Ronnie Spector performed Be My Baby in The Ed Sullivan Show. The late Glen Campbell played guitar 🎸 20+ years later, Ronnie Spector returned to the same theater. It is a return of Ronnie Spector. The theater was named after Ed Sullivan. He passed away in the 1970s. The song inspired Brian Wilson and the late Roger Christian. They wrote Don't Worry Baby. In 1998, Garbage 🗑 wrote, produced and performed Push It. A sample of Don't Worry Baby is in the verses. Lead singer Shirley Manson tweeted her eulogy. RIP Eddie Money, Glen Campbell, Ronnie Spector.
Ronnie Spector -- god bless her. Thanks, Eddie Money for having the right instinct to invite Ronnie into your great rock song. You were both so incredible. (The keyboard player is Paul Schaffer who is a bit dorky -- but I assure you the man is a musical genius & has been used on countless high-end sessions because of his versatility on instruments & as a bandleader. He could play anything, anytime, with anyone, has a perfect ear, can fake it proficiently & improvise on the spot. He often leads the R&R Hall of Fame band because he can play countless songs by major artists. My music teacher knew him & he assured me a Paul Schaffer is few & far between in the music business. The man is a genius).
Lol... keyboard player is Paul Shaffer. He was the band leader for The David Letterman Show and was also band member for the Saturday Night Live in the early years 75 - 80. I saw Eddie Money in concert only once but he was very energetic. He kept throwing his mic stand down and the roadie would run onstage and pick it up. It got kinda funny after awhile.
I always dug Eddie. As is usual for me, I generally like his 70s stuff best (Baby Hold On, Gimme Some Water...). But Ronnie... (speechless pause)... love her. I think Eddie would agree.
As always, another great and entertaining reaction from you. Since you're a big fan of Live from Darryls House, would love to have your reaction to Elle King's Ex's and Oh's. Watch the official video and then the one from Darryls house. I think it would have been a blast to see you with your brothers reaction from her official video of that song. Peace!
Wow!!!! I wish I would've seen this when it aired...two amazing artists I pray 🙏 they are R.I.P!!! If you watched his original video she definitely was in the video!!!
I think you might like The Ronettes performance of "Be My Baby" and "Baby I Love You" from their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Paul Shaffer (The piano man you imitated) does an amazing job of recreating the "Wall of Sound" technique for the live performance.
I saw him years ago as the opening act for Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour. He was a fantastic opener--he gave it his all and got a standing ovation. Love him with Ronnie here. This is such a great song. Rest in power and peace to both of them.
You should check out Ronnie doing "can't put your arm around a memory." A Johnny Thunders song she does an amazing job on. It'll bring a tear to the toughest bastards eyes.

George Benson “Lady Love Me”
The song Trinidad by Eddie money is kind of interesting It's kind of a little bit reggae..
When he sang "just like Ronnie sang" he's talking about "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes. That would be cool to react to if you haven't yet.
Ronnie's breakaway from Phil Spektor was on par with Tina's breakaway from Ike. This was her come back after a lot of recovery.
And it was an absolute delight to see her back rocking.
Spector not Spektor
The keyboard player is a legend, the great Paul Shaffer. He was the band leader for the Letterman show, here with Sid McGinnis on guitar, Will Lee on bass, Anton Fig on drums and David Sanborn on sax. Shaffer is well known for his fairly campy style and crazy clothes.
David Sanborn is one of the greatest saxophone players ever.
It was on a Letterman episode
Paul Shaffer is from my hometown in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.
I always liked watching Sid play guitar on the Letterman show
Sid, Will & Anton are world class musicians.
Love this song, Rip Eddie and Ronnie Spector ♥️🙌🙏💯
They are both not with us. Eddie was an incredible performer and to add Ronnie's iconic Be My Baby to the song was brilliant! This was a very energetic performance by Eddie! RIP to them !
@@youllis Pretty sad.Sorry.
@@Caperhere we know you are but what am I?
I love the video of this song. Where Ronnie comes walking/ dancing up..
The Ronettes sang “Be My Baby” which is what Eddie Money is referring to. So you need to react to Ronnie Spector singing “Be My Baby.”
Oh yes... the years of well-dressed Robert Palmer, Huey Lewis & The News, Hall & Oates... mens' shops loved those years, selling nice suits and ties galore...
Lol. So right. All kinds of suits and jackets. Until the new millinia, fashion ran on 20 year retro cycle, so the 70's imitated the 50's, the 80's imitated the 60's and so on.
Hall and Oates are great. I was born in 93, but feel like I should've been a part of the 80s
It was a great song.
RIP to both of them.
Holy crap!!! Paul Schaefer still had hair! Great performance from Eddie and Ronnie, RIP😢
Eddie Money! Wonderful and a talented human being and Ronnie Spector! Beautiful and an awesome singer!! Both are dearly missed! Rest In Peace to both.

Eddie Money has some great songs we lost some great musicians way to early 😢

Two amazing voices gone now. Great song by Eddie and Ronnie. Thanks for posting this one.
RIP Eddie and Ronnie. Great music never dies.👍🏻🙏🎵🔥
Love this song! I live in Reno NV and the official video was filmed at the arena on the university’s campus. The song is played at the end on every basketball game as we exit the arena.
My favourite Eddie Money Song great reaction!
You can tell she was a spitfire and loved performing. ❤
Brother Jamal: I had to laugh too. But what a great song ! RIP to two greats. Eddie was a performer. Ronnie Specter was a beautiful woman with a great voice bro. Thanks for that reaction my brother from another mother. Let's keep on keeping the greatest music alive !
Ronnie never lost it! The voice, the moves, the passion stayed with her. ❤️

So awsome I remember when this was released in jr high..... Ronnie and Mr Mahoney rip!
They clearly were having fun. Paul Schaefer on the keys and the whole band having fun.
I thought that looked like Paul Schaefer from Letterman!
Schaefer is with the E Street Band.
my man has all that music on his walls and didn't know the legend Paul? Weird.
Ronnie Spector sang the same line in 1963: "Be My Baby" - The Ronettes.
UA-cam "The Ronettes - Be My Baby / Shout (4k)" for Ronnie Spector's best live version of it.

The "Candy Man" must have been back stage that night 😉
And that is a grade A sax player - David Sanborn.
And yep - she was in the org video.
Always love Jamel's reactions to these incredible artists! 😍👏👏
Ronnie Spector was old enough to be his Grandmother when they did this. R.I.P both of them.
They were both born in the 1940s. It's just that Ronnie Spector got famous at a young age.
She was 42-43 at this time
To great artist will be miss.
Jamel, you've got to do Robert Palmer, also gone sadly. His Song "Every kinda People" is perfect for these times. Beautiful Song ❤
Eddie sounds great here. Ronnie is just....smoking!
Eddie's money
I like to call him Edward Currency, I saw this when it originally played, wasnt a huge late night fan but must have been one of those nights there was nothing else on. I also saw these two accept a music award or present once that was memorable.
Great Reaction Jamel and Great VERSION of the video!!!! Thank you for playing this!! Rest In Song Eddie and Ronnie!!! ❤❤👍👍
Eddie's reality show was called Real Money.
If you watched it, then you know 3 of his kids were in his band. Sons Dezmond and Julian, and daughter Jessica.
And Eddie Money was his professional name. He was born Edward Mahoney. (All he had to do was remove the "ah".)
RIP Ronnie! A true New Yorker! And Eddie another NY legend!!
Saw him do this live in July 1979. I still have his haircut. Blue Oyster Cult, Molly Hatchet and Outlaws were all there. Toledo Speedway.
This song did not come out until 1985. He did have several other hits prior to this one, like, "Two Tickets to Paradise" He performed at SUNY Geneseo around 1982. That's when I saw him live!!!
This is with Ronnie, love his song Shakin'
Another fav of mine!
Wow she was pretty.
I knew the song but never knew about her.
I looked her up. RIP to both Eddie and Ronnie.
That’s Paul Shaffer on piano. Letterman’s music director. He also was musical director at the RRHOF
Awesome! David Letterman's band is hands down the best in late night history!
She also collaborated with the E Street Band. Also love Ronnie's later collaborations with Joey Ramone and her cover of Johnny Thunders.
I love your channel ❤. You are so entertaining. Thx for sharing
This video was fun and this was a hit song on the radio. I loved the Ronettes, everything Ronnie sang were hits. Eddie Money was great, also.👍👏👏
Love these two. Unfortunately we lost both of them. I have an Eddie Money CD and play it in my car all the time.
Love that the sound quality wasnt that good. Its just like a old vinyl record. Super cool. 🎸🎶😁👍 i still have 200 vinyl record and pick-up player. Greets jacco from Holland 🇳🇱
Just like Ronny says
This was on the David Letterman show with the world’s most dangerous band.
Love this song ♥️🌹
Anytime I'm feeling down I can guarantee a smile after watching your reactions. Keep up the great work
Paul Shaffer (on keys) and the World's Most Dangerous Band. Shaffer is with the Blues Brothers also.
I don't know why I had a crush on him in my teenage years...lol I remember seeing Santana because he was the opening act.
Great concert in the end.

David Sanborn on the sax
Entirely live! Paul Shaffer's band on Letterman was TIGHT! And vocals on point.

I think Ronnie Specter"s shimmy/dance was what The Black Crowes may have had in mind when they named their debut album, "Shake Your Money Maker."
I think you might like The Ronettes performance of "Be My Baby" and "Baby I Love You" from their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Paul Shaffer (The piano man you imitated) does an amazing job of recreating the "Wall of Sound" technique for the live performance.
They also used to say "You got fries to go with that shake"? LOL!
E$$ie Money was a great part of my young 80s. Had no idea who the “Ronnie” was.
I saw him years ago as the opening act for Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour. He was a fantastic opener--he gave it his all and got a standing ovation. Love him with Ronnie here. This is such a great song. Rest in power and peace to both of them.
My mom would jam to this Eddie and Ronnie song back in the day. RIP Sister Ronnie - beauty and talent. ♥️
I like to think they're performing this live for Jesus right now
Hey Jamel, that keyboard player is Paul 'The Shiv' Shaffer who also recorded with "The Blues Brothers"😃
Yes, she was there. Ronnie Spectre. Look up the Ronnettes.
Jamel has so much fun doing these.
Awesome video Jamel! Thanks for sharing! RIP to both Eddie and Ronnie!
You should check out Ronnie doing "can't put your arm around a memory."
A Johnny Thunders song she does an amazing job on. It'll bring a tear to the toughest bastards eyes.
