- We arrived in Sanford, Florida after our cruise up the St. Johns River on Halloween day. We had a 1-week reservation - and ended up staying 4 amazing jam packed months.
In this video we attempt to wrap up tons of activities, social awesome and what captivated us so much about this relatively unknown treasure.
This is a town that blew us away, stole our hearts and will forever be a favorite stop.

My wife, teen daughter, and I are moving from landlocked town in texas to a yacht in 1.5 years as full time cruisers when I retire, and plan to make Sanford our homeport. So many great qualities, and love the idea of walking out of the marina to the heart of town.
Really looking forward to this new chapter in life as its something weve talked and dreamed about for years now.
My countdown timer says: 1 year, 280 days, 14 hours, and 57 minutes...
Are you on the wait list to get a slip in Sanford? It's currently a couple years long with the hurricane damage last year and upcoming marina rebuild.

I truly love Sanford, this is one of our favorite places to go. Plus, you can get to see the wonderful view of the St. Johns River. I'm usually in the East Orlando area. Not too far from where I go to school at, in Red Bug Lake Road at Casselberry (you can see Tuskawilla United Methodist Church). And the Port of Sanford is a magical voyage! It's like another Port Canaveral -- but the Central Florida version of it! I really have to admit that Florida is more than Universal Studios, Disney World and Miami Beach.
There are many small towns in Florida, and the City of Sanford is one of them. And, you can travel the St. Johns River which goes up from Sanford to Jacksonville. Your yacht would be more than that of _Disney Fantasy_ fame! Sanford is our home away from home. Thanks for the memories!
Loved the video! We are boat shopping now and are planning to call Monroe Harbor our home until the kids are out of school. We've been in the same house for 21 years so it'll be a little sad to leave but I can't wait to start our new adventure. Thanks for all of the awesome and informative videos.
I always liked Sanford. I lived in the Orlando area for 34 years. I loved the video, it kind of brought me home for a minute. The shots of Monroe Harbor is great, it’s where I bought my 30’ cruiser in the early 90s. Thank you, I hope you keep the great videos coming.

Being still for just long enough to get caught up on various things is good sometimes. Being part of a community is important. We need relationships with others, it may look different for each person. I need both alone time and community time. It has taken awhile for me to get the balance right.

It reminds me a bit of the West Village of Manhattan. Always some cobblestone streets closed off for an event or a fair, great restaurants and artisan shops, all good people welcomed, charming, and warm. So glad you followed your instincts and stuck around for a good while. Thanks for sharing with us.

Oh and meant to add.. I knew Sanford had a lot of cool stuff from what you had shared, but the video really captured it well, with SO many fun activities and unusual events, that just looked like a blast!
As a FL native (Tampa), it's great to see little towns like this brought into the spotlight..FL is more than Disney and Miami Beach...We have soo many cute, small towns here..I admit Sanford had not always had the best reputation and was a local joke for a long time but I'm thrilled that they have turned it around..well, what probably happened like all the cute, small historic areas, People tired of the high prices of nearby larger areas such as Orlando/Tampa/Miami are buying homes and property in these small towns, renovating and turning them into desirable areas again..Here in Tampa, a once crime ridden area of town called Seminole Heights has become one of the hottest areas in town now..what was once a place with crack houses and homes for $65K are now sought after cool homes now selling for minimum $200K..After living here almost my whole life, 45 years, I'm looking to head out west for a change and to get away from the FL rat race!!! (Terlingua Ca/Brewster County/Marfa area for me) Quite the change from FL I'm sure! Safe travels and enjoy FL!

Wow! Loved this video! We had such a great time visiting with you in Sanford and getting to know that lovely little town... we can SO understand your wanting to return - WE want to as well! I found what I thought was my paradise. It really was for every reason my heaven on earth. Employment was solid as well as state income tax and honestly there was no crime or should I say, there was never a murder during my years there. I never locked my front door and I knew all my neighbors and towns people!! Then, everybody else found it and the cost of living went through the roof and forced out almost every one of us locals. I have been in search of another paradise since 1989.
I swore that if I ever found another perfect place I would never tell a soul!
Sanford is on the cusp of major growth... we suspect in a couple years, it'll be more of a tourist destination than a local gem. One reason we decided to leave was the breaking ground of a major new complex on the waterfront.
I feel the same way you do word for word I thought I found my paradise almost 30 years ago all of a sudden it got invaded by assholes from somewhere else and then the top it off they tell everybody and their mother where they're at so they can all come to paradise and f*** it all up it's a damn shame I'm like you now I'm looking for my paradise once again and I'm heartbroken about it

Your fun meet & greet at Tuffy's is what brought us to Sanford earlier this year...and we were subsequently taken by that cute little town, too :) We look forward to returning and hopefully also connecting with you two again down the road :)

We live in the other marina in Sanford. We are newer to watching your videos and only wish we had known you were there. We love visiting downtown and having a nice dinner there as well as the unique shops that are downtown. Now that we follow your videos, if you are ever back we would love to talk motor cruising. We have a 38-foot double cabin boat that we intend to do the loop with in about five more years.

Interesting. I live in the adjacent town just south of Sanford and have never seen it through someone else's eyes. Thanks. I do know that the riverfront has change since I moved here and has made a huge difference to Sanford. Looking forward to your return.
It's fun sometimes to see a place you're familiar with from new eyes... kinda like us returning to an old home town after years of travel. You see it differently.

Great video (as always). I grew up less than an hour from there and never even got off an exit near by to get gas. The Chamber of Commerce should pay you for this video and have it running "on a loop"!

Great video, you two should be working for the chamber of commerce.. really looks like a great little town. We lived aboard for a year plus on San Francisco Bay, and it is a great life style. Looking forward to your next videos.

Central FL is our favorite place. So many towns like Sanford, around there! Did you guys get to check out Mt Dora or Tavares? So many places near there to explore:-) You guys are totally making us miss FL!! So glad you enjoyed it!!
We intended to go check out some other spots too... but the accessibility of Sanford right off our transom kept us pretty much busy.

Sanford is pretty far inland.. so one of the safer spots for boats during hurricanes.
