    I recently purchased a 43' Hatteras Dbl Cabin and I am looking forward to the great loop. Since I live on the South Mississippi Coast I am in between the Mobile Bay and the Mississippi River. so I am thinking that I am going to head north up the Mobile bay area and meet up with the Mississippi River and head south. I think I will do this first before I take on the challenge of the great loop. I also have family members that live in Deltona, Fl and after watching your videos I see now that I could pull my boat almost to their doorsteps. I currently have my Hatteras on the hard getting a new bottom primed and painted and well, the entire boat is getting painted currently, I have replaced the carpets also. Oh, and I lived on the boat for 3 months right after I purchased it. I just wanted to say thank you for your UA-cam channel as it has been a tremendous help and inspiration. As I watch your videos I am constantly making a list of the upgrades that you have done. So Thanks and keep the videos coming.

      Wow.... tackling the Mississippi first? That's some of the most challenging boating along the loop (and actually, that section - not technically part of the traditional route). Have a great adventure!

    I love your videos...very realistic and appeals to the average couple who love the water and want a option rather than a cabin or large trailer...you show that this life style can be had not just by the rich 1%ers..

    You have put a lot of yourselves into Y-NOT which makes it your own. It is great to have it be yours and not something that some factory cranked out. I was really glad for the way you made Zephyr work for your work environment as well as your living environment. It looks like you are doing the same thing with Y-NOT. You are more courageous than most and you get to enjoy the rewards as a result. As I say about my RV, I don't care about resale value. Somebody else can worry about that after I am gone. I want it to work for me in the interim. My wife has already passed away, which is a BIG reminder to enjoy what I want now because I am next! Hopefully, I have a few more miles and a few more years before my trip is over. Enjoy your trip, both of you!!

    Looks really awesome you two. I have something to share. About bed mattresses. I have a really bad back. Only one that worked for me an hotel had it. So I looked for years and tried many. My two boys have bad backs also. They needed new ones. I bought theirs first because I gave up on myself. As I was taking their out of the store a guy was really giving me a hard time because he thought in his little mind I was a fool. My boys feel in love with them. So I went and bought one for myself. Same. Works better then any one I have ever tried. Not hard but not soft and ferm. Perfect. To this day. Now where did I find it. Walmart. Out of a box. 2 twins and one full size. Dont let the box fool you. Once air is going into the bag, watch out. It will gain its size. Not bad price either. Keep up on that dream of a boat. Again, way so cool.

    You guys have done great upgrades you will never be unhappy about increasing storage capacity on a boat And your. Dinghy solution is a great system often people try to reinvent the wheel. For stowing a dinghy and it becomes too hard to use one small note is that ive traveled thr the Bahamas on private vessels a few times in my life and sometimes crooks. Look at dinghy names docked at free or local dinghy docks to know what live aboard boats aren’t occupied At that time in order to rob the mother ship a easy sotion is to toss a crappy canvas cover or something similar to. Cover the name ive also used registration boards that cod be strategically placed with either Velcro or plastic clips or whatever i know yo guys are creative and handy btw 2 years on a boat is a really big accomplishment and a testament to your relationship Congratlations and Cheers to both of you My Mom has a cousin that he and his wife did the Loop on their Trawler. And they have always said if they cold survive that they can survive almost anything

    • @Technomadia
      @Technomadia  5 років тому

      Yeah... we've heard of that happening - and took it into consideration when deciding to put the boat's name on the dinghy. But we also considered the advantages too of preventing dinghy-theft (far more plausible for our intended travels in the states) by having it hard to obscure/hide.

    I'm on a 38 foot aft cabin in Sanford and doing upgrades to the boat. We started off in a bit rougher condition but brought her from Deland to Sanford. This weekend, we are replacing and exhaust and I have often wondered if I should video the progress. Our plan is to do the loop in a few years on this boat as it will clear all of the lower bridges. Would love to benefit from your experience more and I enjoy the videos.

    How nice to share this update segment with us. I... like many others, never realized how versatile, and multidimensional the 4788 really is with all it's levels and separate spaces. It must give the feeling of a much bigger boat. The only problem is, I'm willing to bet you have increased the cost of used ones now that you've been such a huge advertisement for them. BTW, the Magma grill is marketed specifically to the marine market - it may be both overkill in price/construction and limited in size/mounting options for RV use. For RV, we've been pretty happy with our O-Grill.

    Wonderful insights on big boat ownership! At some point, it would be great to know the cost of each upgrade, as you mention in the video. That would really help separate the "gotta haves" from the "nice to haves" for those of us contemplating total ownership costs of going up in size. Thanks for sharing!

    I like how you didn't spare any expense with the storm anchor. I know money is always an issue and there are places you can skimp on, but I'd have to make sure I have an anchor that is overkill for my boat. I just saw a video of someone with a sailboat who bought an anchor he could take apart for easy storage when not riding out a storm. The extra cost is way worth it when the worst happens and it's doing it's job. Of course, when mother nature has her period (no offence intended), then you just hope and pray...

    For a screen door in your salon, look at mesh and some good, strong magnets.

    Some time I would love for you to discus how you learned to drive the yacht. I would love to purchase a 50 footer as my first boat. It would be most helpful to first timers like myself to understand what needs to e done to get a boat and learn to drive it. Many thanks, Stan.

      Check some of our early videos from getting our boat back in 2017, and the video we did with some of our training captains going over this very topic: ua-cam.com/video/q0ddnPaUVdI/v-deo.html
