The King James is not the absolute Bible. You will not find the word Lucifer in any old German Protestant Bible, it is a Latin word meaning bringer of light. And it is precisely because this Bible put this word into the world that there are now so many people who are confused. In Hebrew it means something like.... howling, bright, shining, but nothing to do with light. In the Butcher's Bible it's translated as shining star, son of the dawn and that refers back to Ezekiel where the men are worshipping, facing east (that's where the sun rises), kneeling before the sun and worshipping it and that's why he's called the son of the dawn because the false Christians (Catholics) worship the sunrise at Easter.

The first reference to the morning star as an individual is in Isaiah 14:12: “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!” (NIV). The KJV and NKJV both translate “morning star” as “Lucifer, son of the morning.” It is clear from the rest of the passage that Isaiah is referring to Satan’s fall from heaven (Luke 10:18). So in this case, the morning star refers to Satan. In Revelation 22:16, Jesus unmistakably identifies Himself as the morning star. Why are both Jesus and Satan described as the “morning star”?
It is interesting to note that the concept of the “morning star” is not the only concept that is applied to both Jesus and Satan. In Revelation 5:5, Jesus is referred to as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. In 1 Peter 5:8, Satan is compared to a lion, seeking someone to devour. The point is this, both Jesus and Satan, to a certain extent, have similarities to lions. Jesus is similar to a lion in that He is the King, He is royal and majestic. Satan is similar to a lion in that he seeks to devour other creatures. That is where the similarities between Jesus, Satan, and lions end, however. Jesus and Satan are like lions in very different ways.
The idea of a “bright morning star” is a star that outshines all the others. Satan, as perhaps the most beautiful creation of God, probably the most powerful of all the angels, was a bright morning star. Jesus, as God incarnate, the Lord of the universe, is THE bright and morning star. Jesus is the most holy and powerful “light” in all the universe. So, while both Jesus and Satan can be described as “bright morning stars,” in no sense is this equating Jesus and Satan. Satan is a created being. His light only exists to the extent that God created it. Jesus is the light of the world (John 9:5). Only Jesus’ light is self-existent. Satan may be a bright morning star, but he is only a poor imitation of the one true bright morning star, Jesus Christ, the light of the world.

Wrong. The NIV is not a translation of the KJV. The NIV and other modern translations are actually translations of other, older manuscripts. Do the research.

The name Lucifer occurs once in the Scriptures and only in some versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version renders Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!”
The Hebrew word translated “Lucifer” means “shining one.”In some translations the Latin Vulgate term “Lucifer” is retained. It is, however, merely the translation of the Hebrew word heh·lelʹ, “shining one.” Heh·lelʹ is not a name or a title but, rather, a term describing the boastful position taken by Babylon’s dynasty of kings of the line of Nebuchadnezzar. The Septuagint uses the Greek word that means “bringer of dawn.” Hence, some translations render the original Hebrew “morning star” or “Daystar.” But Jerome’s Latin Vulgate uses “Lucifer” (light bearer), and this accounts for the appearance of that term in various versions of the Bible.
Who is this Lucifer? The expression “shining one,” or “Lucifer,” is found in what Isaiah prophetically commanded the Israelites to pronounce as a “proverbial saying against the king of Babylon.” Thus, it is part of a saying primarily directed at the Babylonian dynasty. That the description “shining one” is given to a man and not to a spirit creature is further seen by the statement: “Down to Sheol you will be brought.” Sheol is the common grave of mankind-not a place occupied by Satan the Devil, and Satan most certainly isnt dead. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this the man that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, “Lucifer” refers to a human, not to a spirit creature, also men cannot see invisible spirit creatures.-Isaiah 14:4, 15, 16.
Why is such an eminent description given to the Babylonian dynasty? We must realize that the king of Babylon was to be called the shining one only after his fall and in a taunting way. (Isaiah 14:3) Selfish pride prompted Babylon’s kings to elevate themselves above those around them. So great was the arrogance of the dynasty that it is portrayed and represented as bragging and saying in his heart: “To the heavens I shall go up. Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting, in the remotest parts of the north. . . . I shall make myself resemble the Most High.”-Isaiah 14:13, 14.
Biblical evidence points to Mount Zion as the “mountain of meeting.” Hence, since stars can refer to kings (Nu 24:17; Re 22:16), “the stars of God” must be the kings of the Davidic line who ruled from Mount Zion. The “king of Babylon” (the dynasty of Babylonian kings), reflecting the attitude of Satan the god of this system of things, indicated his ambition to lift up his throne “above the stars of God” by desiring to make the kings of the line of David mere vassals and then finally to dethrone them. Like stars that shed light, the “king of Babylon” shone brightly in the ancient world and could be termed “shining one.”
“The stars of God” are the kings of the royal line of David. (Numbers 24:17) From David onward, these “stars” ruled from Mount Zion. After Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem, the name Zion came to apply to the whole city. Under the Law covenant, all male Israelites were obliged to travel to Zion three times a year. Thus, it became “the mountain of meeting.” By determining to subjugate the Judean kings and then remove them from that mountain, Nebuchadnezzar is declaring his intention to put himself above those “stars.” Instead of giving God the Father(yhwh; here after simply Jehovah) credit for the victory over them, he arrogantly puts himself in Jehovah’s place. So it is after being cut down to the earth that the Babylonian dynasty is mockingly referred to as the “shining one.”
The pride of the Babylonian rulers indeed reflected the attitude of “the god of this system of things”-Satan the Devil. (2 Corinthians 4:4) He too lusts for power and longs to place himself above Jehovah God. But Lucifer is not a name Scripturally given to Satan as is shown beyond doubt by careful examination of the scriptures.
When i was a child, i heard our pastor says.... before you open your bible, pray carefully and ask God's wisdom to guide you, because you may misled by what you have read. Because if you do not ask for His wisdom you might interpret it incorrect and worse, might share it or preach it, it is because you interpret it based on YOUR idea or knowledge. You do not "literally" & "word for word" read the bible..... PRAY BEFORE OPENING IT.

When Jerome translated the Hebrew into Greek, he used the new Latin contrived name of 'Lucifer' in place of the Hebrew word 'Halal'. Lucifer is a combination of 'Lux' meaning 'light' and 'Ferre' meaning 'to carry' or 'to bear'. So that is how Lucifer actually came into existence - not that it was ever a name beforehand, but by the misrepresented translation of Jerome. That's where the confusion also stems from, because now we have 'Lucifer' as an alternative pronoun propped up, meaning 'Light Bearer', and we see the term used elsewhere such as in Blavatsky's work. Recalling Jesus saying how Satan masquerades as an angel of LIGHT! Seems as if at this very moment in history, as this name appears, these words of Jesus have become cemented into reality, even if in ages past the devil himself may have actually appeared to people in such a way. Now, as it has been explained to me, the word 'halal' is a descriptive word like an adjective but could be used in either good or bad tone depending on the context, and context of course is always so very important. Therefore, the word 'halal' could mean 'shining one' in the sense of praise, but that is not the tone that seems to be set in Isaiah's text. Rather it may mean 'arrogant boaster'. The world 'Halal' itself has remained in the Hebrew language the subject of much debate as to the exact meaning, but it is agreed upon generally that it never referred to a pronoun or a name.
In 22:16 there is one distinction - BRIGHT Morning star. Nowhere else it says about satan been bright morning star.

The oldest known usage of Lucifer in English is used in 1100 when translating Virgil and is not translated from Latin but it is transliterated and has been derived. Old English used the transliteration/derivative to mean morning star but now it is used mostly for Satan.
Jesus corroberates that the passage in Isaiah is talking about Satan in Luke 10:18. I know Jerome corrupted the scriptures but dang not every verse is messed up the scholarship in his days was amazing.
You're taking it out of context. Lucifer was once a morning star before his fall from grace. In Revelation, Jesus heralds Himself as THE Morningstar to emphasize that His defeat over Lucifer is sealed and He is the one in authority not Lucifer.

Lucifer is not a proper name. Lucifer is a LATIN WORD which means light bearer, morning star or the light. Satan the devil means the ADVERSARY or the enemy. My friend, I am a Pastor who does my best to check in on The Hebrew and Greek. I do prefer KJV but also have found value in other translations. original Greek and Hebrew being Infalable. He was originally called "son of the morning" What is interesting about that is that there were many angels that were called "morning stars" and Lucifer was only one of them. There were a bunch of angels called morning stars. Notice Job 38: 7 "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy." The phrase "sons of God" is referring to angels and is used in the first chapter of Job of the angels in the heavenly council (Job 1: 6 and following). I'm sure you know that already, but I don't think you were familiar with that verse in Job 38: 7 when God was challenging Job and asking him all those questions. More likely the uninspired KJV has added verses. Because it was translated from inferior manuscripts.
Why are we not putting this into historical context? "Cast down from heaven" could also be translated as "fallen from your place of power" the passage from Isaiah could easily mean, in modern English, "what happened to you, man? You were so accomplished, and now you are so broken!"
Why people insist on translating idioms literally is beyond me...

Lucifer is mentioned ONE TIME in the Bible. The entire chapter talks about a "man" who was brought down... Luke 10 is where Jesus says symbolically he is seeing Satan cast down from his exalted position when the disciples said "even the devils are subject to us.". AMAZING HOW MODERN PREACHERS TEACH SUCH NONSENSE.

I find the king James Bible to be very accurate and used by the Holy Spirit to teach me of the All the mighty Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
Why Why WHY is it that people believe the KJV is the only true word of GOD. First, off it was a King that didn't like what he was hearing in latin so set a group of scribes to write it in English but not the common man's English but the Kings English. After each part was written he would go through it & remove word he didn't like adding in words he liked & in some cases even changing the full meaning of the verse chapter or book. Hebrew is the known word of God or better know as the old testament. There isn't a full written word of God as the Bible hasn't got all the books of the Torah/Jewish bible. The Roman Catholic Church Pick what book or parts of a book should be kept that have now been named the Holy Bible which to keep it Holy they had it copied from Hebrew & Greek into latin. To know the real word of God is to go back to Hebrew & Greek. Which is taking place now a group of scribes of Hebrew are writting the bible from the Torah into English. It has found that a number of parts of the KJV are not right. At the end of the day, it isn't which bible you use that matters it is whether you have taken God into your life into your heart.

That's pretty much pathetic, you sure don't know your history. The Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate is the original bible. Not that the king James bible or any other are useless, they all could be used to knock sense into anyone about correct doctrine. But there's the Douay Rheims made in England that was against the protestant reformation, absolute same translation as the Latin Vulgate.
So, If there are differences in meaning of certain verses, can we say that they are both the word of God or that he can contradict himself? Just read 1 Corinth 13:4-8 and you will see how blatantly differently they can be.

Actually, the word "lucifer" is not in the Hebrew OT. The KJV retains the word from the Latin Vulgate, rather than translating it into English, as other translations do. When other versions use terms like daystar, son of the dawn, shining one, and morning star they are not equating Jesus with Satan, as you say, they are only translating the Hebrew word "halal." The various translations on this verse are dealing with linguistics, not theology. The word "lucifer" can have either a positive or negative connotation and is used elsewhere in the Latin Vulgate. Job 11:17, 2Pet 1:19.

Honest question. Why is the KJV anymore valid than any other version of the original?( which isn't even in English). How do you know what the original version says if you don't speak that language? The Hebrew word in Isaiah 14:12 (shakh'-ar H7836) for morning is pretty clearly referring to morning "dawn" "day spring" "early light". This is in the KJV. It's not an erroneous translation. That this term may be used referring to both Lucifer and Jesus Christ in two different places in the Bible doesn't mean the translators of the NIV (or KJV) are saying Jesus Christ is Lucifer. Perhaps a good place to start would be to study why Christ is called this in the first place.
The word Ba'al for instance, is literally translated "son of God" from the Hebrew, does this mean the Bible is calling Jesus Christ a false God because it calls him the Son of God? We must read scripture in context. Satan once held a position at God's right hand - now Christ is at God's right hand. That no more makes him satan than a shared title like morning star.
The NIV may have it's problems, particularly more recent versions than the 1984, but the translators throughout the rest of the version clearly weren't calling Jesus Christ Lucifer or satan. In any version, KJV or otherwise, the Bible must be read in context and difficult verses that seem to contradict must be read in light of the clear verses. This requires a little more work than snarky rewordings of the various versions acronyms.

"Lucifer" is a Latin word for Venus, during which half of the year occurs in the sky as "the morning star", and the other half of the year as "the evening star". A basic dictionary search can tell you as much. The interchange between Hebrew sensibility and foreign languages (such as Latin, and Greek, and then English, at last...) is a clear cause of confusion for many. With that said, I do not believe the NIV, or any other bible is insinuating or otherwise implying that Jesus (another foreign rendering of the messiah's actual name, "Yeshua") is Satan. "Lucifer" means one thing. "Satan" means another. And "Yeshua" means another yet again. You say you're a Pastor, and yet you're unaware of these basics ?? ........ Thumbs down on this video. The KJV is using a term that was brought into the Church by Origen. Other Patristic writers concurred including Jerome and the KJV translators. The KJV provides a marginal note, "O day star"; which is one meaning for "Lucifer", another is "morning star". You are basically agreeing with people that you don't agree with.

Ive never fully read the bible and i am going to start, but the main question i have is which version?, i watch videos that say the wording is very different in each version. And i know they twist the meaning of words around like the lord baal thing. It keeps me from reading it beacuse im scared to interpret it incorrectly. So i appreciate this info greatly!
billy mcfadden .. i know how you feel. But the best thing that worked for me was to get a basic understanding of hebrew letters & words. (Allan Horvath has some really good lessons here on YT). Thats how i learned to look up words in the strongs concordance and compare it to the structure of the original hebrew language. Don't be discouraged. Pick one version and take it apart. Bit by bit. I've been saying this for 15 years. I discovered this while learning the bible and no pastor ive talked to have had logical reasoning for calling Lucifer evil amd Jesus good when they are the same.
