It seems hard to imagine Mary having to walk close to 100 miles while 9 months pregnant but my great grandmother walked from Idaho to Portland, Oregon, over 500 miles, while pregnant with twins. Women used to be much tougher than me!
They were accustom to walking and working through their life.
Likely why Jesus was born on The Way.
My wife worked at her physically demanding job up until a few days before she gave birth.
More than likely they traveled with many freinds and kinfolk and not by themselves so its possible that she could ha e ridden a donkey or even in a wagon
Also Jesus walked almost everywhere he went. Except sometimes boat's ,and one time a donkey. He walked miles.
@@terrypeterson9491 yes.
The donkey was also to fulfill the prophecy from Zach 9:9
Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL
The song doesn't say Orientar. It says Orient are. The Orient is a term for the East in relation to Europe, traditionally comprising anything belonging to the Eastern world. It is the antonym of the term Occident, which refers to the Western world.

Let us remember this is God and nothing is impossible for Him
@@razark9 What's your explanation of the universe and life? God is the most sensible explanation, and demanding "evidence" is a ruse
Nothing is impossible for the God yes, as he is the most high. But Jesus on the other hand, the firstborn of all creation admits his limits (John 5:30 - I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me)
He couldn't place himself into Mary's womb or perform miracles on his own. Most definitely couldn't resurrect himself.
Why is that specific god the better explanation than any of the others? There are so many to choose from and many of them much less contrary and self-contradicting. @@indigatorveritatis8891

This is where we apply the golden rule of understanding the bible. Read the Bible literally until something in the passage tells you otherwise. And the movement of the star tells me otherwise.
This is not how a typical star behaves. Therefore, it is not a star but a light, a devine light in the sky, that was labelled a star, guiding the Maji.
Thanking you.
TRUTH OFVTHE STORY IS WHATS IMPORTANT! That God became a man gorbiur salvation Praise Him!
I believe the light was not in the sky at all, but a divine vision seen only by those who needed in, both day and night.
I guess you never read the part in the Bible, where it says do not worship God like the pagans did and celebrate no traditions of man.
I recovered from mainstream Babylonian Mystery Religion dogma years ago when I began actually studying the Bible for myself rather than just believing unbiblical traditions. I’ve found that it is not easy to unlearn erroneous beliefs from childhood, but well worth the effort.
It is also hard not to focus on what is Not important and learn to get to know Jesus instead.
You’re right. Those erroneous childhood beliefs were taught to us intentionally by the church. Futurism is straight from the Synagogue Of Satan.
@@marcia2095 That is a classic Babylonian Mystery Religion response, always focusing on the messenger (albeit a false one) and not His message.
The virgin birth is the birth of Christ in you, through you, as you imho.
I don't believe it's correct to say that there is no birth of Christ in the Gospel of Mark. Mark 13 has the line: this is the beginning of the birth pangs. Then there follows a description of spiritual purification leading to an experience of seeing "the son of man coming with power."
My dearest hope is that Christians come to understand the gospels as timeless books of spiritual instruction rather than as histories.
I know that many already do, and I know many who are the most wonderful people! Merry Christmas!
??
I appreciate the conclusion: We can accept it as a miracle, a supernatural event, like we do the other circumstances of Jesus' birth. Thanks for the insights.
God is amazing!
I like your thorough analysis of this and, as always, pointing us back to scripture.
I would comment that it isn't "We Three Kings of Orientar" but "We Three Kings of Orient Are"- the Orient being the East from Europe/Middle East and it being a poetic, old English way to say we are three kings from the orient (even though they probably weren't kings).
This man uses the word "probably" about 10 times in the first 4 minutes.
Do you think he did a good job wasting everyone's time with his private suppositions and conjectures?
Thank you for the truth
@@statutesofthelord Actually he had a huge amount of truth within his presentation using Scripture with history, even the comment that He [Messiah] was "probably not born December 25." Most who are into "truth of scripture" would say He definitely was NOT born December 25. I also use the word "probably" when speaking to those celebrating this time of year more often than not to encourage folks to do their own research and not to appear a "know-it-all." Besides, the actual topic--the Star--there's no proof that I could find so it is all "probable."
Totally man's head knowledge....no revelation knowledge. Larson showed the revelation of truth...King, King, King, Is the pointe. True not everyone is 100% correct. Because of being in the natural mind. ( He needs to slow down a little.) Lots of facts stated we already know. we go by scripture not christmas cards. Psalm 19 The Heavens declare the Glory of God. God mapped out the story of His gospel in asronomy w/the Constellations.....it was to reveal himself to humanity. The enemy twisted it to astrology where it tells you about you. ..Instead of God. As far as the star went ahead...is like you saying I will go ahead of you to this city and you follow and I will see you there. That could have been when Jupiter was in retrograde...they didn't see it for a little while then it appeared again. The fact that the Lord used his planets to proclaim the Glory of His son, the King of Kings three times in this process, i.e. King, King, King, as Larson pointed out, which the magi would have been aware that something significant was happening, of which they had never before seen. The point of Christmas cards is irrelevant. The idea was a King was coming...God showed 3 wise men... who knew so strongly they brought the most precious gifts they could. He was born, announced by the angel and the Host of Heaven sang Glory in the highest, it upset the Evil King enough to kill all the baby two year old boys in fear of loosing his crown. It happened just as the scripture records. For unto us is born this day, in the City of David, Savior, who is Christ the Lord. He split time..B.C. and A.D. before Christ and after his death. I uly believe this Star was a Heavenly event to proclaim and announce the coming King. It wont be repeated. He will come now as the Lion of Judah, in power and glory,..the King of Kings (us). See Rev. 17.14; 19.11-16 Blessings
Exactly what I was going to say!! Meaning they came from the east. Lol
Matthew 2:9,10 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Uh.... yeah. Sure...🙄
Funny how Matthew only heard about this when he got around to writing his gospel. I mean a strange star is something people would talk about. Must be another one of those miracles that nobody noticed until christianity came along and pointed it out to them.
@kevinkelly2162 most people are not bright enough to notice anything, even though they stare directly at it.
@@kevinkelly2162 I think it goes to show how few were paying attention to the signs. Only Zacarius and Anna in the temple had been watching and waiting. And the Magi. Obviously upon the appearance to the shepherds they would have told their families.
It is said that at Jesus second coming there will also be few who are watching and waiting and prepared for the Harpazo, as He told us to watch for the signs of the times.
@@darroniverson yes as with the second coming of Christ we are told it will be JUST like in the days of Noah. For 120 years Noah followed Gods instruction to build the Ark, though it had never before rained. The earth was watered by a mist so no one believed him or paid attention to his warning but only mocked. Can you imagine preaching for 120 years and having not one convert. They were too busy with their lives, eating and drinking and marrying right up until the rain began, and it was God who shut the door. Not Noah. Like the way God says He will again shut the door to the opportunity to be at the wedding feast of the Lamb. 5 virgins had their lamps full of oil and 5 were not prepared then the door was closed when they went to buy oil.
When a train arrives you might have waited a long time for it but once it comes you get on and it takes off very quickly. Jesus is said to be taking a long time to come back and though all around the signs show it’s not much longer people tire of waiting and occupy themselves with other things and forget to watch.
Question all you want. It doesn’t matter how they got there, who was there, where the birth was. The most important fact is that Jesus was born . God incarnated came to save us from death. Thank you Jesus✝️🙏
It does matter, because the bible talks about it. If God choose to put it in His Word, it is extremely important. ALL scripture is God breathed...
Yes it all matters and educating ourselves on Bible history honours the Lord❤
Dr. Danny Faulkner.. I liked to hear your thoughts on this
“Since John the Baptist was born on Passover, the 15th day of Nisan (the 1st Jewish month), Jesus would have been born six months later on the 15th day of Tishri (the 7th Jewish month). The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot. Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles! In the year 5 BCE, this fell in the month of September.”
“It is probable, because of the circumstances shown in Luke 1, that Mary conceived during the last two weeks of Elizabeth’s sixth month. Thus, John was born in the spring of 4 BC, probably between March 18 and 31. By projecting forward another six months to Jesus’ birth, the most probable time for His birth occurred between September 16 and 29.”
" Gabriel is still speaking to Mary, and notice that Elisabeth is the cousin of Mary. This is important to note that part of blood line is to the Levites, as Zacharias and Elisabeth were both of the lineage of Aaron. Mary had asked Gabriel how it would be possible for her to bear this child, and he is reminding her that Elisabeth is in the sixth months of Pregnancy with her child. Elisabeth was well known to be very old and far beyond child bearing years. This time of Mary's >>>conception

Youre exactly right. Born in September and wisemen were guided my Bethlaham star.
At last - this is correct and shows just how corrupted the world is when even Bible believing Christians still participate in a pagan festival and a lie. Thank you so much for this.
4BC is after 5BC not before it. I think you mean John was also born in 5BC, or do you mean that they were both born in 4BC?
PS Also everyone I know understands that the creche (the manger scene) is put together from the many parts of the scripture. We also know that St. Francis was the first one to set up a creche on Christmas Eve one year as a way of remembering that story. In those days most people were not literate and the images from scripture, including objects like the creche contained all the story elements not to suggest they all happened at once, but as things to point to for the viewer to recall and remember each point from the Gospel story. It helps to know church history.
Or that they happened at all.

EXCELLENT! My thoughts exactly!!! Thanks for explaining this.
Oh that Constantine combined his god, Mithra the Sun god, with Paganism called Christmas. Funny that the Winter Solstice is when Christmas is. 🤔 hmm
@@timb5434 Hi Timb. Constantine's problem was maintaining supply of food and other services in the world's first city to have over one million people. Having many religions in Rome meant every day was a sabbath for one faction or another, and made logistical supply a difficult task, so he standardized the sabbath to one day for every religion. It's hard to see what else he could have done, and I'm sure God has judged him much less harshly than Rome's legalistic critics do today. Cheers of the season. P.R.
Thanks for this video! It's interesting to hear about these misconceptions. In Sweden it's common for the man of the house to read Luke 2:1-20 on Christmas Eve (we call it "Julevangeliet"), even in more secular homes. Almost all school classes also went to church on the last day before the winter break and listened to the priest. It's been a while for me but I don't think it's as common now.

Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum of Ariel Ministries explained , and I quote from his essay, The Visit of the Magi, that this 'star' appears and disappears.
It moves from East to West, also from North to South. This star hovers over one single house in Bethlehem., pointing out the exact location of the Messiah. It is very evident that this cannot be a literal star, as we know that any such star hovering over a single house would destroy the whole planet.
The Greek word for 'star' simply means ' radiance' or ' brilliance'. With this star coming in the form of a light, we have the appearance of the Shekinah Glory.-the visible manifestation of God's presence.
Whenever God became visible in the Old Testament , such a manifestation was referred to as the Shekinah Glory.
This eexplanation makes more sense to me, especially as Dr Fruchtenbaum was Jewish.
Correct! It was not a star!
We do not live on a planet. The Bible tells us we live under a firmament with waters above. The Bible tells us the Earth has a foundation, pillars, that the Earth does not move. Heliocentrism is a lie of man, it is sun god worship. That is why the "planets" are named after pagan gods.
I agree, God The Father would show up at the birth of His son
According to the scripture we do not live on a planet. Heliocentrism is a lie of Satan.
the speaker here says it wasn't seen outside the region, but in chinese history a star that was not an ordinary one is recorded around 6BC from memory. It is as you say from Arnold more likely to be a supernatural phenomena rather than a natural one and the Shekinah glory would fit perfectly.

It’s okay to have questions & search for answers but there comes a time for someone to believe in the inerrancy of what scripture teaches.
It was written by God almighty. His intellect is so far in advance, beyond our human comprehension & no one will ever, ever, ever, ever outsmart His intelligence.
He will give us answers, if we ask. Oh, the wonderful mysteries of God! Amazing!
Yes it was written by inspiration of God, but man for hundreds of years have neen translationing the word into hundreds of different languages trying to make sense out of words that aren't in use any longer. So many passages are not what God originally inspired! It's very important to understand that fact..
Not all has the deep understanding of the Messiahs parables. He warned us to beware of deceptions under the guise of seductive righteousness…and we will know them by their fruits… There’s nothing new under the sun… but I’m hopeful for iron sharpens iron.
The manger was most likely in a cave in Bethlehem where they raised sheep for the temple sacrifices. They used swaddling cloth to wrap the lambs to keep them from getting hurt from the cave walls. I was in one that was said to be typical of what was used almost five years ago. I had never considered the fact a cave could have been the place of birth. But everything fits…
Yes, Migdal Edar or Tower of the Flock. 🐑
JESUS was more then likely born in the lower room of Rebecca and Zacharia home. The swaddling cloth were his priestly garments for our soon to be High Priest in the manger. It was the Feast of Pentecost the day JESUS born so the upper portion of Zacharias was full of people offering no privacy for a mother in labor.
@@rickhuntling7338this is what I think is most likely
@@kathyr1516 And that's how the shepherds knew where to find him…
@@V67Snick Yes. ❤️ The late Dr Jimmy deYoung had some very good teaching on this. The Shepherds Fields in Bethlehem were where the sacrificial lambs were birthed and wrapped in swaddling cloths. ✝️
Interesting sermon/teaching. I saw a documentary on this about 5 years ago, they said the birth likely took place in natural shallow caves and rock formations which were often used for shelter from foul weather, to keep sheep etc.
The Bible doesn't say where Jesus was born, which means not only is there no clear evidence he was born in a cave or stable or any other unusual place, but the fact that the location isn't mentioned is powerful evidence against any such locations. If he had been born in a cave or stable or anywhere outside such a remarkable thing would surely have been highlighted in Luke's account not only for the novelty but also since it would fit so perfectly with the humble circumstances that are mentioned. So Luke's lack of this info strongly suggests Jesus was born where babies would be expected to be born, which would be a private home (peasant homes often had a space to bring in the animals at night so there would be a manger).
If you're going to talk about miraculous possibilities, consider this one. What if the Christmas star was a window in heaven so the saints that have passed on could see their Savior? I don't know how the light came to be. However, that's my favorite possibility to think about.
This is a lovely idea, but Jesus came to open the gates of heaven, which had been closed since Adam and Eve. All the good holy people who had died were in a place of rest, awaiting the Messiah to do this. That is also why what he said to the repentant theif on the cross is significant, that today he would be in Paradise
@@clare1053 You are right about heaven. Maybe I should have used a more correct word like Sheol.

I've always thought of the "star" being an angel. If the angel was high enough in the sky guiding the Magi, it wound look like a moving star.
I was driving one clear night on 71 north from Cincinnati to Columbus, and was in a straight flat rural area with no curves or bends, corn fields and country and very dark except for minor traffic. In front of me, I noticed two stars in the sky one on the left and right, far apart. Unusual in that they were the same brightness. After short while…Suddenly, a very bright star which wasn’t there moments before appeared, much brighter than the others. The right Star that was there before zoomed straight to the left under the bright one that appeared, and the bright one disappeared. The two stars were much closer together now, but the road started to bend and curve and I lost sight of them. I believe that much of the ufo stuff are our vehicles, and much of the rest the fallen and their creations. However. Some could be of God and good, it’s hard to say. More likely you were seeing the landing lights of planes on approach to, or departure from, Airborne Express/DHL in Wilmington/Clinton County. Flat wide open corn country, bright "stars" that appear stationary as they move toward you, and stars that move sideways and disappear as they take off, land, and circle the airpark. I can routinely see and hear them from over 30 miles away.
@@brennan3735 no, i have lived around cvg and other airports. Nothing can move across the sky at that speed, - much faster than a plane - then stop, and stay stationary without fading or getting closer, it just sat there. Perhaps what the magi first saw was the skyful of singing angels seen by the shepherds? And later this angel choir, grouped closely together, flew ahead of the magi.
Very good thinking.
Are you stupid or what?
The birth of Jesus was only announced to humble shepherds - these shepherds were the only ones who visited Joseph and Mary at the time shortly after Jesus' birth. The manifestation of these spirit creatures and the announcement of Jesus' birth was only made to certain shepherds in a field - not to anyone else. No one else would have seen this.
The astrologers were magic-practising priests - they were looking for omens, something that is condemned in the bible - God does not reveal spiritual matters to those who affiliate themselves with the dark arts that are of satanic origin. Satan's intention was to have Jesus killed and after arriving in Jerusalem, the astrologers were sent by Herod to find Jesus so that he could have him killed - God did not lead the astrologers to Jesus - whatever sign was given them to locate the house were Jesus and Mary were staying some 2 years later, was not of divine origin. However, these astrologers were later warned not to return to Herod. In the bible these 'magi' are not viewed in a favourable light. Also, spirit creatures such as angels do not fly to be seen by others as you have suggested - it would be absurd for angels to lead astrologers to Jesus knowing that these 'magi' were on a mission from King Herod who wanted to have Jesus killed.
Your thinking is not based on scripture or sound reasoning.

Thank you. I have always believed the 'star' was an Angelic being. The only explanation that fits. But when I offer that idea to others , especially other Christians, they poo poo the idea jumping on the next natural explanation bandwagon.
You are right. the stars are also known by the term " the hosts of heaven ". Same as the angels.
I don't understand why so called Christians try to stick with secular explanations. I would agree a great possibility. I believe God is divine and angels exist.
My belief comes from childhood traditions. If you look historically most people, Catholic and Protestants always put an angel at the top of the tree, even the movie Its A Wonderful Life had an angel at the top of the tree. In our house, Catholic, the angel decoration was always the most treasured and protected adornment for the tree.
I think Christians instinctly knew it was an Angel who guided The Magi to The Christ Child.
Stars didnt come to be popular till the late 60s or 70s, with the introduction of the space program and the popularizing of astronomy, and the search for natural explanations of supernatural events in the Bible. Just look at all the people trying to explain away the parting of the Red Sea
Yes, The Bible contains alagories and poetic language, but thats just how writers write. That star does not have to be natural. It more than likely was a light directly from heaven and be a super natural light. Remember that there are parts of scripture in which light came down from heaven such as the collum of light that guided Moses. Science is always trying to dismantle scripture. But God always prevails.
My heart says the light was from a source that mankind can not comprehend.
This video is 41m long and you get soo close to answering the question ‘What was the Christmas Star?’ When the answer is plain to see in Luke 2:9 ‘An angel of the Lord shone around them,’. It is the best explanation for leading people, seeming to move it stay still and turning on and off.

THIS was the conjunction that happened. I really don't recall anyone saying it was "Jesus returning". Just look up Revelations twelve on the internet, and it will come up.

Angels are referred to as stars many times in the Bible, ( Rev. 1:20, Job 38:7, etc). I think it quite likely the Star of Bethlehem, so called, was an angelic appearance:
1. We know angels are referred to as stars at times,
2. We know at times they are seen as very bright in appearance,
3. One magnificent angel or even a gathering of many angels could be very bright and from a distance would look as thought it had no particular shape,
4. We also know that angels could appear visible to one person but not to others near by, 2 Kings 6:15-17, so possibly only the wise men could see it.
5. We also know angels can and do move precisely,
6. And lastly angels are depicted many times, present and/or heralding Great events willed by GOD.
I'm with the speaker in this video, I don't think it was some natural astronomical alignment or Nova.

It’s doubtful that a carpenter wouldn’t have at least one donkey and would make his pregnant wife walk from Nazareth to Bethlehem. I was also told that Saul of Tarsus wasn’t riding a horse to Damascus when he encountered Our Lord. But it’s not written that they rode so they must have been walking. I wrote my mother (long ago) that I was coming to see her. The letter doesn’t mention an airplane, so obviously I walked.

At a Planetarium in Winchester UK - A Cambridge professor demonstrated a movement of two stars that appeared to move backwards at one stage. The child was on the house
I would suggest that the wise men went to Nazareth rather than to Bethlehem. When you read Luke's account of the birth that once they had completed all things according to the Law the family returned to Nazareth. Another argument for this is that Joseph's livelihood was there, their home was there too. It also explains why the wise men needed guiding to where the Lord actually was. It also shows the way in which God ensured Herod would not locate Him.
Yes, the wise men went to a house and Jesus was an almost 2 year old infant, not a babe. Therefore, it was that King Herod had all age 2 and under killed.
But what about the fact that an angel told Joseph to go to Egypt.....that's going to take a serious slice of time, especially since they were probably walking. Plus Mary can't trot along after delivering a baby without the possibility of hemorrhaging, even though women were sturdier than now.
@@donnafronl8483It was about 2 yrs after his birth that they were told to flee to Egypt.
Then why kill all the babies only in bethlehem? Possibly they left for egypt after the dedication and after the wisemen came while still a newborn. The king simply asked the wisemen when the star appeared and, perhaps, the king calculated to kill all infants 2 and under based on the wisemen's calculations..
@@lilalabom6393Why kill only in Bethlehem? Have you ever noticed how stupid criminals ( evil people ) can be? Herod figured He was born in Bethlehem, therefore His home was in Bethlehem. There are some really good comments on this video you should read. Also remember that all italicized words in the Bible were added by the translators and that the italicized word " child" in Luke should have been " babe" as Jesus was definitely 40 days or a few days older in Luke 2:34 and then the family returned to Nazareth, verse 39, whereas in Matthew the word "child" is not italicized and really means a child ( most probably walking) when the wise men came. Also notice, that when they left Herod, it does not mention they searched or found Him in Bethlehem. That is the gospel of assumption. Fortunately, the star appeared again ( after 2 years ) and led them to the right place.
Thank you for debunking the myths around Christ's birth.
Regarding the star, I have one question, namely, how did these Magi know that the "star" meant a "king is born"? Did they know that a certain star represents the birth of an earthly king? That is what I would like an answer to. 😊
It was prophesied in Numb. 24: 27 about a star out of Jacob, it was always talked about, so when the star appeared, those who were looking forward to the Messiah's coming, knew when it appeared it had to mean that Messiah had arrived.

English teacher here... Just taught modifiers a couple weeks ago. Modifier phrases, as a general rule, follow directly behind the noun they modify. I'm no Greek scholar, but I do believe the translators were in both languages. 😉
Adverb phrases can come either before or directly after the verbs they modify. "In the East, they saw a star..." where they were when they saw the star.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. (Matthew 2:9)
Agree. The wise men traveled to Jerusalem knowing that they were looking for a Jewish king. Once they were there they had to inquire about the new king because they had no idea exactly where he was to be located. King Herod gave them a direction, which they went towards and while they were on their way they saw the star again--the same star that they had seen while they were in the East.
I'm sure the angel of the Lord was guiding and leading them. Pls see Luke 2:8-20.

The Bible tells us of an account where Elisha prayed that God would open the eyes of his servant, and then the servant saw Heaven’s army when previously, he had not been able to see them. Perhaps the star was seen by the magi because God had opened their eyes, yet not the eyes of the people living nearby.

The star they saw was in the constellation Virgo and at that point in history there was movement that brought a luminous body back and forth finally settling at the appropriate place temporarily in that constellation. Daniel had told them to wait for this as a sign the child had been born. It probably took almost two years to see this, prepare for the long journey and finally make the trip.

I heard one idea that the word “star” in Greek included a group of stars as a possible meaning. The vision in Revelation of the pregnant woman with a crown of several (7?) stars who was “clothed with the sun and the moon at her feet” may have been the constellation Virgo in the eastern sky at a time when the moon was rising beneath her and the sun rising behind her. Is that a recognized phenomena? That could have been interpreted as a woman giving birth to a special ruler in the west because that is where it moved in the sky. We’re any constellations assigned meanings related to particular kingdoms/nations?
Interesting. Just a quick bit. The lyric is, "We three kings of Orient are," Nowhere is it "Orientar." So, the song is saying they are from the far east, specifically Asia, the Orient.
Normally, I would not care enough to mention, but 1)the video is being technical, and 2) I like the song.
I think Danny was being tongue in cheek speaking about "Orientar"... he definitely had a twinkle in his eye while saying that.

The Orient is anything east of the Bosphoruos to Europeans until the WW2 modern era. Turkey and Arabia is the Orient to Brits a century ago. For instance "The Orient Express" a European train that goes to Istanbul.

Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum, in his article, "The Visit of the Magi, ask , "How did the Magi know?". Quote, To find the answer we must go back in the O. T. to the prophesy of Balaam. He was forced to bless the Jews with prophecies. One of these is found in Numbers 24: 17. I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not nigh. There shall come forth a star out of Jacob, And a sceptre shall rise out of Israel. And shall smite the corners Moab and break down all the sons of tumult." But this is not a literal star because it says " and a sceptre shall arise out of Israel. " The star and the sceptre are one and the same thing. ( because Jewish poetry is based on parallelism). The term sceptre is a symbol of ki ngship. This star, that would arise out of Jacob , is Himself a King. Unquote. Dr Arnold concludes that the book of Daniel, written in Armaic in Babylon, would have, therefore indicated that the King prophesied, had been born.
Definitely was an angel ,
I think the star could be the Glory of God, like the cloud/fire pillar that led the Israelites in the desert.
😂 what?!? A star is a star not a god.
Daniel was given the name Belteshazar in Babylon. The Greek Septuagint translates this as Balthazar, the name traditionally given to one of the Magi
Yeah - I have a manger in my storage shed.... a manger does no good in storage. I think the inference is far far far far more likely.
The stars and angels are sometimes interchangeable. The light must have been quite low such as about 1,000ft or 2000ft. People around Bethlehem would have seen the same 'star' from different angles. For the wise men to follow tells us that the light would be visible to them during their travel. Job 38:7 indicates this is so.
One of the questions or thoughts that the three wise men were king is because they gained the attention of king Herod.
Useful perspective. Like historical data in general, this is unknowable, but if one takes scripture as scripture it is prudent to assume angels/messngers externally or Holy Spirit internally intervened in convention and set them to journey.
