The contest to name Resident Evil was an inner office contest, not for fans. Because the band Biohazard existed (along with other potential trademark issues in the US), they asked their employees to come up with a new name and Resident Evil was selected.

Great video, bro. I didn't know most of these. And I agree: RE0 is an amazing game, though some people might disagree with that. I love Code: Veronica and it was pretty well received for the most part; though some people hate it because they got soft locked. Hey, I did too and it's still one of my favorites.

The whole thing with RE7 being a “reboot” I’m not so sure. I’d definitely say it’s more part of the story just not the story following the main protagonist’s we all know and love.
One of the reasons is when you get to the ship and you search through files/documents as one does in Resident Evil you’ll actually find one with a News Paper clipping about the Arklay Mountains from the first Resident Evil.
So that's the reason why they couldn't use the name biohazard in the US because it was already a band called Biohazard I guess they didn't want no copyright problems but then again what stopping the band from copyright claiming biohazard in Japan.
The RE2 midnight party reminded me of the midnight releases, I miss those...

Code Veronica was going to be the 3rd game but they had signed a deal with Sony that the 3 main games would be released on PlayStation but the creator of Veronica wanted to release it on the Dreamcast that was more capable than the PlayStation so resident evil nemesis what was going to be a spin off was moved into the 3rd game of the series and Jill was added but dreamcast sadly didn’t too well and stopped production. Code Veronica did come out during the PlayStation 1 lifetime but code Veronica was ported over when the PlayStation 2 came out

IIRC, "biohazard" name is used only in Japan, since capcom can't use it in the outside world, because of the copyright claims (by that band) - not sure about being inspired by the band specifically tho, but I didn't fact checked it further

Nope. Capcom doesn't own Clocktower. Started off as a Sweet Home game or largely inspired by it or so I have heard. Sweet Home was never released in the US but it was a NES horror game RPG and is definitely a cult classic.

I'd call RE7 a "Course Correction" but definitely not a reboot.
In re7 in the Baker house there’s a picture that says “Arklay Mountains”, AND , inside the Bakers Home there’s a box of books and when you read it or says “into the abyss by Clive O’Brian.” (Clive O’Brian is a character from RE Revelations 1. Leader of the BSAA at the time of RE Revelations 1.

Nacho, ( before I watched this video. ) I remember around 2011, ProMembr with Gamestop. This issue of Game Informer, It specifically said Raccoon City midwestern town, in 'Colorado' This is the only time I remeber specifically which state.Was from that One issue. Now im from Denver, so im like fuck yeah. Would you know of any confirmation regarding a specific location. Work you put in by the way, outstanding. Research, storytelling as entertaining as it is informative.
I still can't believe how they could put a bunch of extra stuff in the re2 n64 full game plus extra all cramped in 64 bit
Re7 was just them creating a whole new game tbh. It neither followed the core of Re4 or Original Re. One could argue it's a reboot due to ease of access if you didn't play any of the rest but one could argue it's not as reboots are supposed to replicate what originally made people fall in love with the franchise and this game certainty wasn't fixed camera angels with pre-rendered backgrounds that felt more down to earth.

I would agree 7 was a soft reboot if not for 8 linking mother Miranda (and thus the mold) to Spencer and the greater focus on Chris, tying it back to the earlier games a lot more. RE have changed things up before (like 4 at the time was quite a departure) so I have to disagree with that one.

I don't think Resident Evil should have the record for worse dialogue. There is definitely worse.
There are even tier lists of bad game dialogue (though RE is usually in them 😂)
@@therogueserafim271 I mean it makes sense why, it's obviously a bigger name game so it got more attention but it's definitely not the worst dialogue I have heard. It's more odd than anything.

Speaking of Resident Evil 7 candle they even had one for Resident Evil 2 remake. Both the Resident Evil 7 candle and Resident Evil 2 candle are done by a company named numbskull.

fact. Nemesis and mr X role model was a man who stalked women and raped them in Japan. The man had a big leather jacket and leather boots.
The Code Veronica thing is actually not true. Some videogame magazine misunderstood something and put the misinformation out and people still go with it because they want to believe it.
I had the RE7 and RE2 candle. The RE7 smelled like old wood (and supposedly blood) and wasn't too bad, just gave you a headache after a while. The RE2 one was disgusting and I see people with sensitive noses puking from smelling it. These candles smelled so strong, you didn't even need to light them.
The craziest myth is that Re 4 fanboys dont see any flaws in that game when you criticize it.
