In Resident Evil 2 remake, there’s a file in the bathroom about the experiment they did to these orphans. That file, is sadistic AF. You can get that file with Claire when she going back to the orphanage to rescue Sherry.
I remember feeling my blood boil at how it was basically an untold secret we have to find in learning how involved Irons was with the experiments in those kids. I loved this about RE2 Remake, but wish they kept some of the designs to have certain rooms containing cages used to transport the orphans to Umbrella for experimentation and the bloody crib room to show zombie children. So everyone can see it didn’t just infect adults, the virus got to children too and they too can become zombies. It would make a great unique enemy for Claire to run into looking for Sherry that would make her PTSD of Raccoon City all the more understandable and relatable.
@@matthewriddle2698 there's a LOT of red tape with showing dead children and having the main protagonist kill children zombies is an entire can of worms.
@@matthewriddle2698 They did show Kendo's daughter in re2make. She was turning into a zombie and Kendo killed her and himself off screen. So we know children can also become zombies
I thought it was hilarious when they tried to implement it into the Welcome to raccoon city movie. Baffles me how they missed the mark so bad so often in that film.
Lisa's Diary is gut-wrenching to say the least; she describes the Hell she's been through and from how she writes, she had stunted mental growth due to the horrific effects of the viruses that were injected into her. The diary is tragically creepy.
At first I was worried, thinking that a previous protagonist met an unfortunate end. But reading up on it, she was actually the author of the article. So she's fine.
There was a suicide note in the original RE2 in the first floor of the RPD located in the East wing. The officer ran away when his buddy called for his help and he couldn't live with the guilt so he committed suicide by blowing his brains out with a shotgun: pretty dark
damn... thats a very human moment honestly. the people we play as in RE are "heros" never afraid to help. but that really shows the humanity of the other characters and what would realistically happen in this unimagineable situation. I don't blame him for not being able to live with the guilt I would feel so bad even though its not really your fault at the end of the day its umbrellas fault.
In _____'s diary I'm pretty sure it was just a zombie and the child just meant to say "dark boogie men" As all the zombies are rotting and most of them are blood soaked probably making them darker looking. Even as a child when you think of a boogeyman you usually think of a more human figure or bipedal creature than a quadrupedal animal. This is what I think personally but I do find your theory interesting.
Hmm I just took it as the zombie dogs being described by a little kid and in some places in America its common to hear people use the word boogeyman in place of monster
This is exactly why I always look for files, diaries, journals, and even memo's in the Resident Evil games, because I need to know what's going on and if danger is near, thanks for showing us why the files do matter in the Resident Evil series, you did a real good job SinglePlayerNacho ✌️
something else to think about with the comms officer death is that in his last moments in his diary he tried to signal in his diary every possible way to signal for someone to find him. His use of the word mayday and his position as a communications officer shows that he was so desperate to survive against the plague inside him that he scavenged through every signal word in his brain and wrote it, most likely not knowing what else to do.
The saddest part about " ___'s Diary" is the fact that, in another file , you can find out that they were doing tests on these children for years and some were taken away never to be seen again With the exception of one who managed to escape and came back to the orphanage alredy slowly rotting away from the T-Virus ,which is what they've been giving them in small doses over their stay in ths orphanage So that diary , regardless of to who it belongs to, more then likely belongs to a child who's mind was deteriorating from the infection, hence the grammatical error and calling the zombie dogs " bark boogie men"
Something is wrong with that idea though. Everyone in the orphanage was dead before the outbreak. Umbrella wouldn't use zombie guard dogs. They're uncontrollable and highly infectious. No, I think the "bark boogie men" was "dark boogie men". HUNK's type of people. Exterminating the kids due to the possibility of an outbreak. What else would a child call these faceless men in dark clothing?
I still remember when the first regenerator attacked me in resident evil 4, I emptied everything on him and ran away saved the game and turned off the game. His design, voice everything was scary.
The UBCS suicide note was different in the original RE3. The guy was desperately protecting a random girl he found. He wanted to die with a clear conscious and made it his mission to save her. Sadly it was too much and he decided the best he could do was make it quick and painless, for both himself and the girl.
Hmmm...not quite. The UBCS suicide note in the original RE3 was found on a guy on the streets, just outside where you see the first drain demos. The note you're thinking of was located in the church. It wasn't a suicide note. Just a journal. The guy got attached to a little girl. Reminded him of his little sister. So when everything fell apart, he tried to save her.
Before the start of the first boss fight in RE Revelations, the boss keeps yelling "may day may day, this is the Queen Zenobia" in a distorted manner. The Comm's officer diary you read afterwards explains this boss. Easily one of my most favorite lores in RE franchise.
Unlikely. The victims of the zombie attacks were noted to have been attacked by more than one person. If it was a serial killer, there would be only one.
I won’t lie, the first B.O.W. I ever truly feared was the Regenerator and the Iron Maidens. Everytime I heard their raspy off putting BREATHING always put me on edge and when I ran into them, I nearly shout in fear as I quickly try to put distance between myself and them. Loved the inferred scope for these guys. No B.O.W. Made made feel dread like them until I faced Trenchy in RE2 Remake.
The files in the Resident Evil games really add the creepy nightmare fuel touch letting you know that many of the monsters used to be regular animals or people who were turned into these creatures by their fellow humans. Nice job SPN.😊
The newspaper in outbreak was detailing the initial speculation that murders/mutilations in the Arklay Mountains area and Raccoon city outskirts weren't known to be zombies yet so they deemed it a potential serial killer.
Even before the main outbreak, they knew it wasn't just one man. "A group of at least ten people. Victims were apparently eaten" is part of the opening in the original RE game. It was three months between the explosion of the Spencer Estate and the full outbreak in the city. Sounds like an actual serial killer to me.
I always thought the one in resident evil three remake was sad with the guy who got out of jail they let him out to be part of umbrella but he died as soon as he got to the town
Great video as usual! But I thought for sure the employee's journal from the remake of RE1 where he's slowly turning into a zombie would have been in this video because that's just, ugh, so disturbing and scary to me. (At least, I think its that one. I'm actually too afraid to play these games since I'm terrified of zombies from the first zombie's over the shoulder look in the original RE so I watch my brother play them instead.)
These files are why the RE universe is amazing. The files in RE2 about the children in the orphanage really give you an insight into the evil you are facing. The zombies are the real victims as they were innocent people who did nothing wrong while the true monsters are Umbrella. The files do a great job of letting you know that you are dealing with an organization that doesn’t respect human life or see it as sacred but as something to be played with. It really raises the stakes for why they must be stopped.
These notes are kinda goofy, like, how and where tf they got a diary from, and in that situation on top of all, but anyway... they help to build a creepy atmosphere and give you an inside of how would be to be a helpless NPC in RE.
I loved Outbreak and Outbreak File#2 honestly I wished they would bring it back in some way, or at least the characters from it 🙂 hell even on RE7 there's a newspaper article written by one of the characters from Outbreak 👍
In “blank’s” diary, the word “bark” could have also been “dark”. I think this because it is a child who wrote this and you can see the way which they wrote the letter p backwards. So they could have been talking about “dark boogie men” which I think could be either regular zombies or Umbrella agents the way they all dress in black, but the Zombie Dog theory is also good.
My money is on the Umbrella agents. If you recall, all the kids in the orphanage were to be purged after one of the experimented on kids returned, begging for help. Oliver, I think was his name. He had already been exposed to the virus. Fearing contamination, they called in security to wipe things up. The kids never lived long enough to see a real zombie.
