Okay, watched the whole series. I especially liked your choice of tracks for this last segment. It was delightful to hear some more obscure stuff like Puggsy and Columns 3 on here. You used a picture of a marina for Columns 3, which is ironic, because I believe the actual track name for that song is "All the Ships in the Harbor", or something similar.
Really glad to know you liked it! MD has more good games than bad, and a sizeable amount of games with excellent soundtracks, that were condemned to obscurity because SEGA didn't know how to advertise their games in the U.S. You surely know a lot about MD music. As for the irony... you think it's a coincidence? :)
There were a few games that I felt were notable omissions. The first is Shining Force 2. I feel it's an important example to include because it shows that the Genesis was actually capable of making full-on orchestral music, it was just difficult to do. It's also one of my favorite soundtracks on the Genesis. The other is Jewel Master. This time the very same composer as Shining Force 2 makes a completely different soundtrack. Instead of orchestral music, the soundtrack is full-on, mind binding progressive rock in the same vein as Yes or King Crimson. It's very technically impressive, with very unusual time signatures and chords. Recommended. Of course, with only 25 tracks, we cannot hope to fit all the best soundtracks in the list, there are so many =).
SpiralPegasus I just presumed you were since the description of the video implied that you were making a one-time exception to increase the number of tracks in the list from 20 to 25. If you're going to upload more tracks, I'll look forward to it!
Outshinedsg It went from 15 to 20, from 20 to 25, and it's not going to stop there! (I just have to find time to do it, as I have a demanding job and career going). Thanks!
Hello, i have watched these videos many times and also came here back today, its been quiet long time since i last watched these but now that i got inspired again to make sega genesis musics with deflemask again (and this time im not giving up) these are really inspiring me more. By the way where have you been i guess hard times or no motivation is answer here, but it'll be cool to see you upload again. saludos from finland amigo y feliz día👌👍💪
Yes, very hard times have passed (and are still ongoing), and I got busier and busier (being an adult sucks) so I kept delaying it until I had no room for the series in my mind. What happened, also, is the fact that I wanted to do thematic videos (heavy metal, pop, orchestra, etc) and I never got to be satisfied with how they turned out. Essentially, the series went into what they call _development hell_ I'll get back on it. I am still not done with it! Please keep it up, and post a comment here if you ever upload your work! Thank you very much for your comment - it made my day :)
@@SpiralPegasus glad to hear it made your day👍 and yes, i will post my work when i think its good. I've been making zombies ate my neighbors level 5/theme genesis version remake cause im really confused why the genesis version doesnt have any remake of any level music or even the theme remake cause it really deserves many beacuse its an western developed game so you can think now how the music sounds in genesis version compared to snes. i decided to do it again and get it done👍 also i have listened genesis/mega drive musics for 5 years now maybe so i knew many amazing songs before i saw these videos (also saw your videos 4 years ago maybe) there were some songs i didnt know back in the day so thx to these videos
@@SpiralPegasus Hey, this is the channel where i post my music stuff, so here you go! (this is "Tampuz" btw just on another channel) It took awhile to have a courage to do this, but yea check them out if you want. Saludos de Tampuz ;D y que vaya bien!
Nice videos! Thanks for introducing me to some awesome games. Here's a few suggestions of games with good songs for part 6 based on my childhood with a Mega Drive: Golden Axe II, Golden Axe III (speed and power metal!), Tecmo World Cup '92 (i don't even like soccer but i loved to play this game just for the music) and Road Rash 3.
Alex Baluh Thanks to you for visiting and the reccommendations :) I quite like Golden Axe 3; 2 I don't. I never played Road Rash 3 like I have done with 2, so I'll listen to that, as well as that football game. I tend to avoid sports games, but I know some of them have excellent tunes. Check out Fifa 95, you - it's pretty dang sweet.

That isometric shooter game... the music reminds me of Knuckles Chaotix and the visuals remind me of Sonic 3D Blast. Any link between the game/music and those games?
+thenonexisinghero None that I know of... Viewpoint was made by Sammy and was originally an (ambitious) arcade game that SEGA had nothing to do with. You're definitely not the only one that thought the music sounds Sonic-y. The fans that made Sonic Mega Mix (best Sonic hack in history) thought so too and a couple of Viewpoint tracks were ported to it :)
+Dilbez I expected people to ask this relatively unknown thing they call *Google* (or in forums and such), rather than telling people straight away. I always find the thrill of trying to find something just as fun as the stuff I'm looking for. But in this modern day society people prefer to complain when they are not spoon-fed rather than, you know, spending 2 seconds looking it up... But eh, I guess I can't change things. What game's name would you like to know?
I think you forgot the BEST music on the Megadrive/Genesis : Aggressive Attack from M.U.S.H.A's soundtrack. --> M.U.S.H.A. - Aggressive Attack [Genesis] Music
Darhcuss The series is over? Says who? :) I know I haven't uploaded anything in forever, but this won't be the last video I make for it. M.U.S.H.A. rocks, chances are it'll be in the show later on. Thanks for watching!
Maybe, maybe not. I'm not trying to show the Genny's most famous games nor EA's sound department's biggest fan :) I confess I have not played them enough. I'll give the whole series a listen. What I _did_ listen to and I _really really really_ urge you to listen to as well is the Master System/Game Gear version of it. Listen to Grass Valley - you will be amazed!
The Genesis had an amazing sound, especially the bass. They were so groovy
Absolutely! Bass is, no doubt, Genesis' forte!

I grew up with the Genesis, and I'm a big fan of VGM in general. I spend a lot of time listening to this stuff =P.
Yeah, Psygnosis. Great music and awesome platformer item puzzler.
waited aaaages for ths vid, nice one.
'sup Eddy?
You're right, it took me too long. I'll try to get part 6 out much faster :)
Thanks for watching (and sharing it!) mate!
This is out of bounds! Great video.
KWKBOX Thank you very much!!

so what's the lemmings track called?
another nice selection.
Hey there Ali. Thank you!
The track's name is "Shadow".
6:37 sounds like doja cat say so
Hey, that Columns III song... it kinda sounds like the wold map 1 theme from Super Mario Bros. 3. o_O
At the beginning? Yes, it kinda sounds like "Still Running Around"! Hadn't noticed that!
I mean Grass Land Theme, v=LI_mwl3QcYA
Ah, that's much closer. It does sound like it. And I would've not noticed either if not for you.
Perhaps someone could mash them together...?

+asa hudson Sorry... what?
So is there any good reason for not adding the names anywhere? I guess it forces somebody interested to comment, asking for them. :p

SpiralPegasus Thats right! Musha is the most metal soundtrack on Genesis. Should've made that other list of yours.
