    This was the FIRST videos of many that I’ve watched that has HELPED me! I’m 16 months post op LTKR and have a lot of scar tissue pain still!!!! I’m choosing to do the exercises that you’ve described on a more regular basis and praying that I get better soon!!! I’m tired of still being in excruciating pain when I stand to walk!!!! THANK YOU Sir!!!!!!

    Seeing that simple drawing of the layers somehow resonated with me today. (4 mo sp TKA) I guess I'm a visual person,. I would enjoy listening, too, but the slight 'echo' from the simple sound system that's utilized does make it a bit less likely to follow with my 71y.o. ears.

    I had a knee replacement 2 years ago with 2 MUA’s because of the lack of ROM. IM STILL having issues with pain and swelling and can only bend to 95 degrees. I have tripped a few times because I’m not picking up my foot normally. It’s very frustrating as I went into this procedure to improve my life and now dealing with back pain as well. Is it too late for me to have another MUA WITH INTENSE PT to break up the scar tissue ?

    Thank you for the more in depth explanation of what happens. I get keloids, and they're no fun. I thought there was something I could massage into the scars, but apparently not. I recently broke my leg/hip, and they put a rod down into the leg. Not sure about the upper connections, but I have several gashes that have become keloids. Very painful along with Fibromyalgia, and knee problems. I massage it anyway, and am learning to walk again on it. You have helped with every aspect of recovery. I am an old girl, so it's not easy, but I want to walk again, unaided. Thank you for explaining the scar problem. As well as the knee issue.

    Just had my other knee replacement on the 25th June, and ive been home 7 weeks. My incision site is really tight, and i believe it restricts my movement, when exercising. The physio starts with a heat pad for 10/15 mins to help, before physio, then ice pack following. I have nerve pain down my leg when I'm sitting, and my foot swells up every day. The hot weather contributes to my foot swell, but it started when the physio had me pushing my foot for knee bends. Now we don't use my foot. At home I use an icepack for my foot, 3 times a day. Swelling goes down overnight, but as I start my day, my foot hurts and swells. I hope my leg nerve pains recedes soon, as its uncomfortable, sitting...

      We’re so sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling with tightness at your incision site and the nerve pain down your leg. It sounds like a challenging recovery.
      It’s good that you’re following a routine with heat and ice, but if you’re still experiencing significant issues like swelling and discomfort, it might be helpful to discuss these concerns with your healthcare provider.

    This was great information. I am 10 weeks out from a TKR and am having a terrible time with range of motion. I only get to 110, and I still can not get it completely straight. I have had a manipulation, which just made everything worse. More swelling, and I feel a little more unstable. Basically back to almost week 3. I'll try massaging the scar. I go to the doctors PT office, and I really don't think it's as good as a private PT office. They seem to go by what the computer program says and don't deviate for a person who needs different help!❤

    • @theearthauger
      @theearthauger 6 місяців тому

      @SkyHermit I'm sorry it took me a bit to reach out to you. I'm doing much better. It gets better everyday. It sure was a ruff surgery. Doctor said it could take up to a year for all the nerves to go back to normal. Sometimes it feels numb. That's on and off. I also think weather makes it hurt with being so damp, etc. I was bone on bone. If I didn't do it, I'd be way worse. That was my last chance. Do the surgery or suffer with extreme pain the rest of my life. I'm currently suffering from a broken rib. I hope this helps you. Hang in there it truly gets better. The nerves have to get calmed down after the shock of being cut into. I had my left hip done as well. That was a nightmare. The surgeons use different suppliers. And you can end up with 1stem longer than the other stem. There are 5 parts to your new hip. The stem, ball, socket I forgot the other 2 parts. But you can Google it. And if any one part is defective it can lead to a recall or you have to have the whole hip replacement done over. Had a lady tell me she had 3 redues within 6 months. That was beyond belief. She said they came out of the socket. Wow, I feel blessed. Hope you are doing well. 🇺🇸 👍⭐️

      @SkyHermit I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I had that lump as well. Felt like a huge lump. I was told to massage the entire area where the incision is and all around it. And to rub in lotion as well. On occasion I will get stabbing pain in and around incision site. It's been approximately 6 months ago for me. Still tender. But, no pain in my hip area. I'm grateful for that. All in all, I'm doing better everyday. That must have been some ski accident. So glad to hear you are doing well and happy you are still hear to share your story. I love to watch people ski on TV. It's awesome. I always wanted to ski. I bought a pair of ski's and I never got the chance to try them out. I donated them. Very informative, thank you…. I have a question please…. It’s bee 4 years since my revision and at times it feels like I just have surgery…… constantly stiffness, limited movement, unbelievable pain…. I walk, I bike ride (which is very painful)…. My dr recently tried a nerve block and it helps as long as I am not doing any activity, but I am always in constant pain….. I cannot stand for long periods of time and when seated I have to keep adjusting my leg because stiffness sets in. I do massage my knee often but that scar tissue is very stubborn…. I just want relief so I can stop popping ibuprofen
    What suggestion can you recommend in addition to what I am already doing? I’m an active 68 year and I would like to exercise with little to no pain…. HELP!

    Thanks for the well communicated information! I recently had a surgery about 2 months ago to "re-lengthen" my femur (femur broke about a year ago), and while I recovered okay the first time meaning, I regained a lot of my mobility back in the leg... this time around, I seem to be stuck at 110 degrees, it's been hard to push past it. I've been at the same degree for nearly 1 month now. I am going to PT, but aside from incorporating massages to the scar itself, what else do you recommend? I also pull my leg in at a point where it is painful yet tolerable and hold it for 30 seconds and release. What more can I do? I will have to have the new pin that was placed in my leg removed in the future, and go through the ROM thing and PT all over again. If this persists, should I just seek out a scar tissue removal procedure for when I have this removal surgery? That would be the 3rd time they go through my knee. I'm 30 years old by the way, and had been fit/athletic/a runner for the majority of my life.

      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  9 місяців тому +3

      Hey Lesley! Thank you for sharing that you had a hip replacement in May with us, we hope that your recovery has been going well. To answer your question, it just really depends and it is subjective for each individual. In order to break down scar tissue you will have to prioritize getting the inflammation and irritation under control so finding the right balance of resting and mobilizing the joint is key. As you can see, breaking down scar tissue is a lengthy process that can take quite some time. so it's important to exercise patience and look for small progress over time.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  Місяць тому

      Hi Keith, scar tissue can sometimes cause issues like catching or limited range of motion after an ACL reconstruction. It's important to address this, as it could impact your overall recovery and knee function.
      We recommend discussing your symptoms with your healthcare provider and giving you a proper evaluation. If you are trying to avoid surgery, please ask them for conservative treatments for your issue.
