@@richardb22 , given the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic I took it as comment about that -- wear a mask to stop the spread of the virus. However, on the flip side of the coin, are you profiling him because he's German? I understand this is a passionate subject but we must look before we jump to conclusions.
Thanks for your honesty guys! Watch servicing and repairing can be complex and most often is very, very time consuming. I used to think people like Hans could service a watch in a couple of hours. Now that I service and repair watches myself I’ve learned that what Hans do in a day takes me at least a week.
Recently looked into serving my 2001 Zenith El Primero Triple Calendar Moon Phase Chronometer. Brought it to a well respected watch dealer in Atlanta with several watch makers. They did not feel comfortable doing the service and recommended sending it back to Zenith. Hans was able to do the service on it and turned out great. Got it back in a few weeks instead of a few months and for several hundred dollars less than what Zenith was going to charge. Great job guys!! Highly recommend. Also Federico was great with communication!
Having someone like Hans on board builds your customer trust and goes a long way to separate you from the competition. I have purchased 2 watches from Delray and have no complaints. Something you might consider to further cement your customers loyalty is to note if a particular watch was serviced by Hans, especially if it is an older or vintage watch. Service history is always a huge question when purchasing a pre owned watch.
Hans is obviously an excellent watchmaker and extremely knowledgeable and it would be an an even more interesting video if John P did not interrupt his answers so much. Let the man finish.
Always great to see Hans. Just great to listen to his knowledge. It is just amazing. He serviced a LL Bean Hamilton for me a little over 2 years ago. Runs great. I wear it regularly. 👍
Great video! Does Hans work on Panerai? I have a PAM510 8day with an in-house movement and have heard some horror stories about the Richmont US service center. Would rather send it to you guys if you guys service them.
I’m sending my watch in to you in December for service. Love Hans, thank you for the very informative video. Trust in your service center is vital and most important. Doing it the right way and with expert repair service.
Great to have Hans back. Service charges are a really important consideration for me - I mainly collect vintage and have restricted myself to two chronographs (speedy and vintage hand wind) as they are so expensive to service.
Always a good video when we see Hans! Thank you Delray and Hans. Quick question though, when Hans services a Rolex, does the service still guarantee the '''Superlative Chronometer"' standard and if yes, for how long?
Great video guys. Question for Hans, at what stage should I get my watch serviced? It's a Swiss automatic, had it for nearly 10 years from new. It keeps great time and has never been serviced. All works perfectly. Any advice on what to look for from a person who services the watch would be handy too, I'm based in the UK so sadly you guys would probably not be my choice based on geography!
I have an IWC perpetual calendar from the 90s, running great but I still want to sent it in. Is that complication something you guys are able to work with?
Watching Hans explanation just makes me want to let him service my watch 😀I wish to buy a watch from Delray. But I'm from Malaysia. Is there a shipping option to send here?
Hi John, great to see Hans on your channel as well. Can you please address the question around the powermatic 80 treated ETA 2824-2 and a regular one? I hear mixed info on the reliability and durability of the powermatic 80 versions in a long term. Thank you!
I need to service my Omega Seamaster 300 (James Bond) I bought back in 2004. Should I also get it polished? I have heard many comment what are the pros and cons. It is my first premium watch and will never sell it, but will pass it on to my oldest boy.
Thank you Hans! Enjoy listening to what you have to say. Now thinking of sending in an old Wakmann for service my father in law passed on to me. Who is easier to work with, Federico or John? 😱
Are you in Houston Texas? Looking to get my watch movement replaced in my Hamilton! Searching for some person who will install and calibrate a new ETA movement!
First, thank you for this useful video. I would like to ask Hans what service interval would he recommend for brand new Zenith El Primero with cal. 400, which is a daily wear, taken into consideration it is a high-beat 5Hz movement. Just for the note, Zenith recommends 3 to 5 years interval, but usually manufacturers aim to get additional revenue for servicing costs.
I’ve got a (als) lange1 blue dial 1994 can I get an idea on how much Hans would charge for service as I can see from your video that Hans know his watches and I would be happy for him to work on my watch as I live in Perth Western Australia and I haven’t found anyone I would trust so far
Fun video. Emotional attachment aside, Is there a price at which It’s cheaper to just buy a new watch and to get it serviced? You never mentioned any hourly rate. However I have to figure it’s at least $20 an hour and probably closer to 40...
I've hears some watches can only be serviced by the manufacturer. For example, are you able to service a JLC Reverso or is that something only JLC can handle given the watches unique architecture?
So if I wanna learn to service some of my watches myself I better go work on the cheaper ones and let professionals like Hans do the job on the better ones!
It would be cool if you did a video with Hans explaining the differences in movements of different price points(starting with the cheap and going into the more expensive ones)
Great review. Question, I have a tag heuer aquagraph, my moment isn't running, the crown unscrews and turns but the hands don't move nor does the stop watch. Do you have a price listing? I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income, but I love my watch. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you. Best. Jerome gold
Is there a reason you don't provide a hard copy invoice/receipt for service detailing work done? Hans seems to be meticulous about record keeping and quite computer literate. It would be nice to have such a record.
This is famously done by Seiko. But Hans only works on Swiss watches. And for ETA/Sellita movements and up, it usually makes more sense to service than to replace.
Luminox and Ball both use Tritium tubes. Tritium tubes emit a very benign type of radiation that can be stopped by a piece of paper. If encased in glass, zero radiation can get through. The only way Tritium can be dangerous is if you ingest it.

Always learn so much from Hans. The "clean part of the diaper" analogy is on the spot. And it is reassuring to know he looks good even in a gas mask.

Always good to see Hans.
So for watches in the price range of below 2-3000 $ with generic ETA or Selita movements it’s cheaper to replace the movement instead of servicing it?
I own a Patek from 1924. Would Hans work on my watch if I have problems in the future? How does he find replacement parts if necessary?

Nice to hear from Hans, the small smug guy who kept interrupting him was irritating though!
I would like to hear Hans’s opinion on weather Richard Mille and Jacob & Co are good movements. If they are what makes them special.
More Hans more Hans!!
does Hans have experience with old IWC watches with the pellaton winding system movement? i have an old yacht club that i would like to have checked.
What reasons would there be for turning down the servicing of a customer's watch (Swiss movements)?

Hans was not patient with Jon's questions either so I guess it's 50/50.

Great to see and hear Hans again but, if you are going to the trouble of having him on, please let him speak and try not to talk over him so much.
I would have video of every watch sent in at time of opening. In addition to pictures.
And kind regards from home of Meistersinger..., 😊
1 question for your good selves. Does a clean looking movement in a picture indicate it has been serviced.
Ball is still using tritium, correct?
Please let Hans talk more (too much over talking)
Do you ever just replace the movement with a new movement to save cost?

Watches with radium are perfectly safe to wear. Even working on them is no problem unless you're in the habit of licking dials.
