The faces of the 1942 from Vacheron Constantin and the F.P. Journe are like replicas of the "trench watches" that were issued to American and British soldiers in WWI & II. Different versions were made my several different watchmakers, but the general layout and the font of the numbers were always the same and very recognizable. It has been copied countless times since the war. I wear my grandfather's original still to this day. It is not large, even on the small side for a man's watch, but so very simple and elegant.
Thank you Nicholas for sharing this. I also have my grand father's watch, but unfortunately it's not working anymore (and its a pocket watch). Stay safe! Hugo
Hugo, I love the designs of the Nomos Glashütte watches! If you like this kind of aesthetic, you should really check out the German brand "Junghans", especially their "Max Bill" line named after the famous Bauhaus artist. And they are actually even more affordable! :-) Stay safe in quarantine with Sonya and have a great time. Greetings from Germany!

Great thank you Hugo, very interesting to hear your take on watches. I wanted to ask if you and Sonya (hello Sonya) were thinking of doing a series on casual wear for the gentleman. I have loved and enjoyed the series so far and have learned a great deal and I guess for me it is knowing about the art and history of suit and shoe making that has been great and the artisans themselves, so please continue. But I just thought it would be interesting and of course a minefield to get your thoughts and ideas on what you feel and think one would wear in less formal situations. Good to see you are well, I'm shooting my video tomorrow, here's hoping.

Thank you Hugo, this was another fantastic, informative and very enjoyable video. Best wishes to Sonya and yourself at this worrying time.
Many thanks Adrian! Best wishes to you and your family. Stay safe! Hugo & Sonya
Love it. Was into your channel before my love for watches and it's great hearing you talk about them. It's great to have a fresh opinion. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the wonderful video !
All the pleasure is ours! Hugo
Elegance and style without which life becomes bland. Excellent show and thank you for making life interesting.
I can't compliment you enough on the effort you put into this little quarantine video! As much a pleasure to watch as your regular, refined offerings. Beyond that I would also like to compliment you on your pronunciation of the german brands, especially A. Lange & Söhne, which is not easy at all, but you mastered the Umlaut gracefully.
Cheers my friend and greetings to Sonya!
Thank you dear friend, and this is the first time in my life I receive credit for my German accent. My German teacher, 40 years ago was not so nice with me!! Cheers, Hugo
Endlich jemand der es richtig macht 👍
Was concerned about your health. Glad to know you're safe. Wish you good health
Oh you are very sweet my friend. Yes we are doing well, isolated in the mountains of North Georgia where we meet more deers, squirrels and beavers in our backyard than humans! Stay safe Shivang, Hugo
I love this topic and u gave it out the best way, watches is about elegant not show off. Love ur presentation
Very impressive presentation. Thank you very very much.
I was curious about your take on wristwatches after binge watching your previous videos. Imagine my joy when I've noticed this video come up!
Thank you Hugo! Take care!
Thank you my friend, I hope you will find some inspiration in this Quarantine video. Stay safe my friend! Hugo
Good evening Hugo I hope that Sonya and yourself are both keeping safe and are well, may I thank you both for your continued output of fantastic content, in these very strange and challenging times, I always look forward and enjoy your videos , they really are true pleasure for me, so thank you to you both, kind regards your friend Ryan.
Thank you my friend, I hope everything is going well for you in this challenging moment of our lives. All our best, Hugo
I always watch every youtube channel about watches and keep coming back to your great selection, it is to learn how to select and look at watches from the essence point of view, reduce them to a pure idea, your eye is very much trained at recognizing beauty! I learned a lot, thanks
I remember commenting recently and asking about whether you'd consider covering watches. This made me very happy! I appreciate your erudite perspective, and I'm still hoping that you'll tackle some fragrances next!
Dear Mattias, we did shoot an episode on fragrances. It will go live probably after the Covid crisis. Cheers, Hugo
Thank you, Hugo. Great job as always and very informative
With pleasure Nicholas! Hugo
Beautiful beautiful suit and tie pairing Hugo. Cheers!

That suit is absolutely stunning Hugo! Fantastic colour and I love the cut on it.
Great video. Thank you Hugo, from Brisbane Australia
You are very welcome Aaron! Hugo
Marvelous video! I’m a watch collector and am thrilled to have found your channel. I’m fortunate enough to own four of the watches on your list and thank you for your validation of my choices. You have a new subscriber. Thanks!
25:58. It's amazing. Even his pen matches the style and colour of his suit and tie.
I am currently looking for a watch and this video pops out! Thanks)) I'm sure I'll enjoy it
We hope you'll find some inspirations ! Hugo
without breaking the bank, but well made watch that I would humbly suggest TISSOT. Best of luck.
@Schweinefresser Not only Russians, but all the post Soviet Union countries. I'm Armenian and I absolutely have no idea what's behind that))
For me personally, ":)" looks a bit weird) And it's more difficult to put that smile, as you have to hold a key for several seconds 🙃
@@SARTORIALTALKS I definitely enjoyed the video. The final watches are amazing!! The 14 and 15 are just masterpices 👏
On Style / На Стуле look me up on instagram. Look into Czapek if you are shopping for a quality watch. Kaz Ochrymowicz on instagram
Stay safe! Hugo
So pleasant to listen to you, guys and to always learn:)
Hugo, I love the designs of the Nomos Glashütte watches! If you like this kind of aesthetic, you should really check out the German brand "Junghans", especially their "Max Bill" line named after the famous Bauhaus artist. And they are actually even more affordable! :-)
Stay safe in quarantine with Sonya and have a great time. Greetings from Germany!
Thank you Benjamin, I will certainly take a look at this German brand. Tschuss ! Hugo
Thanks Hugo! I remember when I asked you to make a video about watches a while ago, I was immediately excited to watch this video when I saw it on my feed.
Great content as always, you picked several of my favorites, I would add the following:
Omega Constellation Globemaster Annual Calendar
A Lange & Sonhe Saxonia Thin
Rolex Cellini Moonphase
Jaeger Le-Coultre Master Ultra Thin Moon in White Gold
Thank you Juan for sharing your own selection (we included the A Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin as watch number 8, you probably missed it). Cheers my friend and stay healthy ! Hugo
Exquisite selection.Thank you
Great thank you Hugo, very interesting to hear your take on watches.
Yes Antonio, we will address the casual wear one day or another for sure. What kind of video are you shooting ? Best, Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS Kind of you to ask Mr Hugo, I have my own channel here and I will be shooting a second video from my home office, of course, where else can we go. It will be about sales but this one will focus on what the real opportunity for business is in this crisis. It is a new channel so there is just one video there now, this will be the second, it will be edited first after I shoot it tomorrow by my guy and we will put it up by the end of the week or beginning of next. Like you I do not do one a week. The channel is under the title - The Sales Director ua-cam.com/channels/0O5oTV2t22ivt7eg0zaOkQ.html
Big thanks Hugo to you and your team. Your knowledge is priceless 🥂
Thanks you so much and Cheers ! Hugo
The words you’re looking for Hugo to describe the F. P. Journe is that it makes a statement without making a statement. Great video per usual hope all is well with you and y’all are safe!
Mr. Jacomet, perhaps when the quarantine is over you could do a video showing the process of getting a bespoke suit. Maybe your first fitting, or a montage of the multiple fittings.
Why not Casey, even if this kind of video is very complex to produce as many months can pass between two fittings... Hugo
Thanks for providing your take on watches. It's always interesting to hear it from a different perspective rather than the usual review and analytical comparisons 😊
Hope there may be a few more watch talks on this channel in the near future 😁
I love all your choices regardless of price. All following the principles of classical art. Restraint, balance, harmony.
Mr. Hugo you look absolutely incredible. Such an inspiring style
Very enjoyable video. Thanks
Wonderful videos Hugo. Would be fantastic meeting eventually meeting you. All best from Mexico City.
Absolutely agree, great choices!
Many thanks Max !! Hugo
My favourite fine time-piece in my modest collection is the ones I made-to-measure by my own hand. There's a bit of love in succeeding to accomplish a task you, at first glance, thought impossible.
What a beautiful and very fine selection of watches. I am so happy that I have seen there my grail, Nb. 12 F.P.Journe. What a watch! I agree with you, the style, the elegance of the last watch is incontestable. Bravo!
Yes, FP Journe's Chronomètre Souverain and Dufour's Simplicity are for sure two masterpieces... Cheers! Hugo
Pure class. Thank You
Worlds colliding on UA-cam! Fantastic stuff!!
Thank you Mark. It was meant to happen one day or another... Cheers, Hugo
