- In this video I demo the Idatalink Maestro RR interface for aftermarket head units. With today's newer vehicles being so heavily computer controlled, interface modules have become a huge necessity.
With Idatalink's Maestro the integration is taken to the next level. We can now interface more with already available features, and also view information that was never availalabe on factory gauge clusters or information centers.

Ok folks . I called Maestro and figured it out . I now have outside temp assigned to a gauge. Now everything works. Thanks for your help . I have a Kenwood DN994s . Great sound .and $300 less than the new 665
995 that s
Don't you just have to assign it?
Looking at this product on Amazon and had to look up a UA-cam review This is some pretty impressive things this idatalink does
+Kurupt 830 If you get Alpine's Restyle (if it fits your vehicle) there is an add-on module you can control things like lights, airbag suspension, power tonneau cover, all through the head unit.
Don't fill your tires based off of the TPMS. It sometimes takes the tires multiple revolutions before the system is showing the correct pressure.
You were right . Go to gauges . Hold down on the gauge of your choice ,and a list will pop up .
Paul Grimm Sweet, now you don't need a new truck.
Car Toys told me I’m out of luck losing my outside temp. Not happy . Will call Maestro tech line tomorrow
That sucks
Do you have to touch the camera button every time you put the truck in reverse? That would get annoying
No it can be set up so when the vehicle is put into reverse it will switch to the camera automatically.
Previs Smith no
Have a question about a 2010 Acura TSX with navigation. When I install the Idatalink Maestro will my navigation work on the factory screen?
can the maestro RR output video to the stock rear video screen on vehicles like a town and country?
if the Kenwood or pioneer can play video from say a SD card or usb stick can the maestro take the av out of the head unit and output to rear monitor?
Which unit of the maestro do you need to see your tire pressure and etc? Just install mines thinking I was going to be able to see it but it’s says I also need a obd2 wire?
RR and RR2
Hello Anthony and thank you for the great video!1 I've been looking at the Maestro RR unit for my '13 Subie Crosstrek Limited to replace the OEM nav unit. Am looking at Kenwood and Pioneer headunits. A question I have is on the instructions from Maestro in order to receive the gauge info the unit has to splice into the car's OBDII unit by splicing wires into the OBDI wire harness is that true, please? Doesn't sound like a really good idea does it? Thank You!
+Fred J. Yes on some harnesses provided you splice in, some harnesses I've done come with a plug. It's not really a big deal because if a scan tool is plugged in the unit surrenders and let's the scan tool talk to the vehicle first. If you're uncomfortable with the install, I highly recommend taking it to an experienced shop.
Will this interface replace the pac os2bose? I have an older kenwood model and I'm looking to upgrade to a 571hd and I'd like to use the Idatalink maestro, but would I have to get rid of the pac interface?
Jesus Zuniga Yes this will replace your interface module that's currently installed.
Two questions: Does this show oil temp and oil pressure? Would it conflict with a Cobb AccessPort?
Depends on the vehicles which gauges you can access. Also there's a good chance it will because it'll use the same lines to communicate with the PCM.
very informative, thanks for the info.
+Rahsaan Wade Thanks! Pretty cool stuff right?
My outside temp worked on my Ford radio, but not the new Kenwood
Paul Grimm Did you set a gauge to temperature?
So i you buy this you do not need to buy the backup camera adaptor?
Depends on the vehicle, the backup harness is provided with some wiring harnesses from Idatalink.
Thanks for your Greta videos. 2 questions I'd like your response to if you have time:
Do I NEED and Maestro idatalink kit for my 2006 Silverado when installing a aftermarket DD headunit? It has no remote start as of now. Standard key. They make a kit for my make/model tho. Also, is this kit the maestro idatalink kit compatible with the avic8100nex? If I got one I'd want to do the gauges and such also keep steering wheel buttons. But I'm o. The wall about getting the MAESTRO so the gauges may be the selling point. Thank you!
As far as I know for that year of GM truck you do not get gauges. The new version of that truck in 2007 will get you gauges. You will need some sort of module to have proper head unit turn on and maintain steering wheel controls. As an alternative check out www.pac-audio.com
AnthonyJ350 thanks buddy. I really do appreciate your fast reply. You the man, keep doing what you do n I'll check into that link now:)
AnthonyJ350 I would like to bug u once more for a piece of knowledge. The avic8100nex- do I just use a standard USB that plugs into my nexus 6 for android auto? Or do I need some fancy item additional to. USB? I saw a video of the release and introduction of the device, and the pioneer rep said all u need is a USB. But the amazon description says "Pioneer CD-AH200 kit required"... Can find a definitive answer. I'm going to call pioneer asap when they're open.. I believe my vehicle doesn't have a factory amp so I would just need a device to integrate a steering controls if I chose to do this. That correct, Anthony? I wish I had a simple work around but I get the device from the link u provided if I decide to go that route. Thanks again
Unless you have BOSE you just need the standard module for accessory turn on and a steering wheel control module. I'll be honest I'm still waiting for the 2015 Pioneer line up to reach my shop, but from my understanding the cool thing about Pioneer is it just uses the USB to interface. But you'll have to call Pioneer tech support to verify.
AnthonyJ350 I'm gunna call them. I think you're right. For Samsung's u may need additional things but nexus is by google as is android so I think its pretty straight forward. Pioneer sells a 2 to 1 and its basically a box that has a micro USB port and next to it a HDMI port. USB & HDMI from headunit go to this box, the a micro USB lead comes off box to ur phone. I really CANNOT grasp why I need HDMI and USB.. But HDMI from my understanding balways has better quality so maybe its best to use that. But if USB is needed then I need both n the Pioneer CD-AH200 kit is the best deal. But if I can do it ALL with one or other I'll probably choose hdmim I've read guys using a slim port hdmi for nexus devices... Anything I learn I will share. No Bose, I out kickers in place of factory highs. Shallow mount CVT kicker 12's behind seat(crew cab 4x4) with 1600 watt pioneer amp. Eventually I'll do a 4/800 channel amp for my highs but for now I'll run it to headunit.
I have a 1968 Camaro with a ls3 and obd port (from a 2010 Camaro) and a Kenwood excellon dnn990hd will this system work with my set up?
Your vehicle is unique because you just have the power train from a newer vehicle. I would contact Idatalink and see if all you need is to interface with the OBDII only to get your gauges. Because there is a data line on the factory head units that it may need to interface with and that's a different network.
AnthonyJ350 Thanks for the advice.
Does it have to be a kenwood radio? Would this be compatible with a 2013 ford fusion with Ford MyTouch
the idatalink Maestro works with Ford, and Chrysler Uconnect, too. Also different radio makers, like Pioneer. Just need different accessory cables.
Does this work on vehicle that doesn't have system integration? Does it work over OBD II?
You have to go on their site and see if they have firmware for your vehicle.
Thanks, how do you set it up to do it automatically? I can't seem to figure it out, it's been two days now.
You have to wire your after market head unit to the reverse signal of the vehicle.
I have the same unit in a 2010 yukon Denali, I assumed it was wired to the reverse because it does work after i hit the on screen button like you did in the video. thanks i'll talk to my installer and see whats going on.
Thanks
Would this product work on an Acura TL 2001?
Will this work with a 2013 Ram 1500 Express quad cab? I have the Pioneer 4000NEX unit.
You can check on their website for compatibility because it's always changing www.maestro.idatalink.com/. But I just did training with Idatalink and was told this year there is only support for Kenwood and Alpine. Pioneer was suppose to be compatible but was taken off due to their software or firmware not working properly.
I keep checking the idatalink website for my 2016 Silverado but it says NOT AVAILABLE for the 7" screen base stereo. Any idea what the problem could be?
+raptuous Not sure. Look at Alpine's Restyle on alpine-usa.com and see if they have a solution, because the Restyle head unit uses Idatalink Maestro. You you go through their application chart it show's which dashes will work. Use it as a cross reference.
+AnthonyJ350 I see it appears for the Alpine $5500 CDN 10" solution but would like to put in a simpler 7" deck. I just wonder if idatalink provided a special unit for that specific set up. The 4" is discontinued and I haven't seen the 8" in any 2016 sierra/silverados on the lots so I hope a 7" Maestrois coming, otherwise I might just put in a deck and move the Onstar box out of the way and take my chances. I Emailed idatalink but I'll try calling if i don't get an answer this week. With how truly awful the stock stereo is there has to be a huge demand.
raptuous I'd wait for their e-mail. I'm pretty sure it should work. I don't see why screen size would make a difference.
Got my answer, GM changed the pin configuration on the radio this year so I have to wait for a new Maestro. They're hoping by summer.
raptuous Good to know.
My out side temperature not displayed on my new Kenwood with maestro
Paul Grimm Did it work before?
gauges app doesnt work on mine did the guys not flash the module correctly?
What head unit and vehicle?
AnthonyJ350 kenwood dnx571hd 2012 mustang
Moow howl Ya looking at the head unit and the Idatalink site it should work. I would call tech support at Idatalink to confirm the feature is supported. They might need to use a different firmware version possibly. Do all of you other features work i.e. steering wheel controls?
does it come equipped with camera's or it that separate?
+MrMerv3 Camera is separate, but in some applications it can maintain the factory camera.
What year sierra were you working on? I have a 2004 diesel
It was like a 2010
I have a 2016 nismo 370z and i have maestro rr. My vehicle info part of the interface doesnt work, only the gauges part. Any help please?
Andy Lopez Did you hook it up to the CAN high and CAN low wires in the diagram?
AnthonyJ350 It didnt have the proper cables attached to them in the pins. I couldnt do it.
AnthonyJ350 beside that was not the problem. When i did the flash on the maestro it only had, gauges, steering wheel, and radar detector option. Other than that no vehicle info app.
Andy Lopez So it was never available? I haven't logged on to double check
AnthonyJ350 yes, please log on and you will see. Search nissan 370z 2016. And vehicle information app is not available. I need some help please, can anybody email me at ahung625@hotmail.com
Thank you
Do I need this to get my aftermarket unit to turn on?
Some vehicles yes.
Is the vehicle info available for 2013 Mazda cx-5?
Check out Idatalink.com/maestro
Will this work on 1990 miata running ms?
For gauges I don't think so.
Is this on your 350z? I can’t find this for my z. Help
joe Doe What are you trying to accomplish?
Is this available on a kenwood dmx7017bts?
Available if it says Maestro Compatible.
Will this work on Sony XAV AX100 and a Toyota GT86?
Check here maestro.idatalink.com/
I'm installing this in a 2016 ram with a pioneer avic5200nex reading the instructions and tryna figure out where the hell the audio cable wire goes into on the radio..............wtf, someone needs to make video of the wire install the internet instructions suck ass
My reverse camera comes on in reverse . I lost my out side temp though
You lost outside temp from the head unit display?
could you make this product maintain its functionality with android tablet set up
Are you trying to get gauges on the tablet?
AnthonyJ350 dont need gauges. its 2014 mustang just need it to work with the climate controls mostly
Is it easy to install?
For installers that do it all the time yes. It's like wiring up a harness and a remote starter interface put together. Probably the biggest challenge is making all the wiring uniform and clean.
Nice glare
Thanks for the feedback!
Will it work with a 2003 Chevy Silverado
Brian Jay As far as I know, no. I looked into doing it for my 2005 Silverado and there's no firmware at the time.
Guess not .
Thanks for the comment
Should have traded the truck in for a better radio
Paul Grimm Gauges cannot always be a guarantee. But call Idatalink
You want to spend 50 grand to get a better radio from factory?

This video had what to do with the Maestro? It was just a demo of "my sierra". rename vid and don't waste other people time.
+Benn Birch This video shows end users what they get when they install Idatalink's Maestro interface with a compatible deck. How does this waste their time? You can't get "my sierra" unless you install the Maestro interface. Would you rather watch me plug in the module instead?
+AnthonyJ350 I would certainly appreciate a video on the installation steps of the Maestro RR unit, please? Thank you!
Will this work for a 2004 tahoe?
I don't believe the gauge feature is supported.
Does this work with just new radios are a lot, I have a pioneer avh x4600bt will it work with that
If you want gauges it has to be a newer head unit compatible with it.
AnthonyJ350 is there a list that I can see of all that's comparable with it. And if not will the Ac part work with any unit
Yes please. Also will it show this info with a 2015 ram 2500 Tradesman?
