I have been sick for a couple of days so I wanted to play something relaxing and work on my dynamics and musicality. This song sounds mysterious to me and reminds me a little bit of Schubert. I hope that you like it.
@@Leander-piano What a beautiful piece of music, you're right, it does sound like Schubert.... I'm praying for your full recovery my friend. Much love in Christ!! 🙏💙
I am intrigued by how Leander has achieved such an early level of ability and a broad repertoire. He plays without reference to a printed score and with an assurance that allows him to extend over an octave for a base note without looking. He is quite a remarkable young man, and I am inclined to believe he has very sympathetic and supportive parents.
@ Thank you for your reply; I agree with your assessment. His ability to store that amount of information and replicate it in such an assured manner is quite remarkable. It was good to see that stuck note has-been fixed. I also personally hope his gift will be nurtured and developed sympathetically.
@@tomarmstrong1281 I would really love to know how he learns the pieces. I led a friend who is in her mid 80s and taught viola and piano, to his youtube feed, and she said she believes he learns to play by ear! I was a choral musician for a bit more than 40 years, and can read music, but when it came to the performances, I NEVER used a score. I'd always committed the works to memory, and gave my attention to the conductor. Not everyone can do that, but to me, it just seems natural to have all of that music still swimming around in my brain. If I were invited to sing in Brahms German Requiem next week, I could still remember all of the first tenor lines and lyrics and just follow the conductor. I'll admit, though, I could NOT do that with the massive masses of J. S. Bach. Nice to share thoughts with you, so much of commenting on youtube gets nasty out of nowhere quickly, I was thrilled when youtube fed me Leander's feed.
@ He is a remarkable young man with an amazing talent. I will not speculate on the origin of talent, enough to say that I hope his parents are sensitive to his needs and wants. He appears to be a lovable child. And that should be all others are interested in.

I am sorry to hear you've been sick, Leander. Also here in Holland a lot of viruses are going around! Hope you really feel ok again. I like this quiet and a bit melancholic melody a lot and you play it with feeling. Thanks Leander.

Ooh, you might enjoy listening Beethoven's 14th Piano Sonata ("Moonlight"). Maybe it'll help you transition from the mood of being under the weather. I was having my blood expertly drawn the other day by someone who knew of your channel. You have the power to shrink the world and bring it together, Leander. ❤ I'm no musician, but in smiling all the way home, I was thinking of a Billy Joel song. Not complete, but you'll get the idea: Play us a song, you're the piano Dude, Play us a song tonight. Well we're all in the mood for your melody, And you've got us feeling all right. ... And the piano sounds like a carnival, and the microphone smells like Kool-Aid. Make comment to me, And lament on the D. And say "man, why ain't you 'gittin paid". ... bravo Leander it took me awhile to discover Schubert lurking in the shadow of Beethoven. anyway this Franz Gordon tune reminds me of Chopin. you play it with feeling and skill.
This song seems to have a few different moods-serious, then happy, then back to serious again. I wonder if the composer was thinking of an experience he or she had had. Music can express so many emotions, can’t it. You played this very well. Thank you! A nice start to my day!
Parts of that kind of remind me of one of the tunes in the game Portal 2. Had to listen twice...well, OK three times, LOL. Still blown away by your abilities. Few can even dream of playing this well and being so versatile. Strangely, I was also slightly under the weather the last couple days. Coming out of it now. Felt good enough to get out and work on the snowmobiles tonight. Praying for your health tonight.
Dear Leander, I'm feeling sorry to hear that you were ill for a few days, but thank God, you're feeling better again, good luck recovering more to your original self. Your music from today, sounded a bit sad, but that is nice in certain ways too. It puts emotion into your music. It's also good for your musical experience to have a shorter or longer break of not playing the piano. You will find out later that you have improved yourself again, by doing nothing for a while, isn't that awesome! Maybe not, because you love to play as much as you can, to learn more pieces to upload on your channel here, to please your followers and not in the last place yourself too! But it's also all about finding the correct balance. See ya later in your next video buddy😊
I'm sorry to hear you were sick, Leander 😢. But this is a truly beautiful piece! And speaking of Schubert, have you had a chance to listen to Piano Trio in E b Major 2nd Movement yet? That one is actually quite similar to the one you're playing here, so I think you'd really enjoy it! 😊 Anyway, great job here as always.
Hi Leander!! Your performances are allways a pleasure to hear and seeing you playing!! Allways in a good mood!! My best wishes to you!!! A question: How long have you been playing the piano? And what is your age? Are you living in USA or in UK? Cheers!!!
Listened again to the wonderful composition by Frank Gordon that you play so well. Very glad to know you have good health again. Your illness reminded me of a funny poem written by A.A. I'm glad you're feeling better. Sometimes playing music under different circumstances can help us connect with music in ways that we wouldn't connect otherwise. I do hear some clear expressiveness in your playing of this piece - the right hand is singing nicely over the left hand. You generally have good finger arches, and are giving a good singing tone. I noticed in a couple of places when you play your RH index (2nd) finger, you let the finger extend and collapse completely. It may be something you're doing without realizing it. That isn't really necessary I don't think -- just play those notes the same as you play all the other notes.. I hear some nice tailoring of the phrases --such as at 1:25 - 1:29. For the trills (0:59, 2:18) you're using a very rapid vertical transfer of weight from the wrist for each note, which makes them sound (and look) a bit rough. It will sound and look much smoother if you can transfer the weight more quietly to the fingers by rotating your wrist back and forth (i.e. from left to right to left, etc.) between the two notes. Your teacher will be able to help you with this. Perhaps this would be a good piece to work on for expression and nuance. I'm still looking forward to hearing you play the piano after the technician has worked on it. However, even at its best, this piano is difficult to play a wide range of expression due to its design. I hope that you will have a chance to play on some grand pianos some time to experience how they respond better to a wide range of expression. Please keep playing -- stay well, and take good care of yourself!

@@Leander-piano AWESOME! I hope everyone is feeling well and will have a nice Thanksgiving! I would still encourage you at some point to try to arrange to use a very good piano -- preferably a well-prepared grand piano -- to feel, and hear the difference in response of the keys, the tonality, etc. I think that it will be difficult to experience that on your current instrument. Your current piano is sufficient for learning and practice (once it's fixed). But I think you will understand the difference of what I'm saying once you experience it for yourself -- you will be able to control and produce the finer shadings and expression that you're trying to play on this piano. It will be great when you can make a few recordings on a nice grand piano somewhere. Be patient, and continue to enjoy your gift!!
@@Leander-piano I would be interested to hear you play Bach's Prelude in C Major, BWV 846 from The Well-Tempered Clavier: Book 1. For most of the piece, each arpeggio is played twice. BUT -- I would like for you to try this as an exercise -- not very fast: - play the first arpeggio firmly -- about mezzo-forte (mf -- moderately loud). - then play the second arpeggio pianissimo (pp - very softly) to make it sound like an echo of the first arpeggio. Play the second arpeggio as softly as you can and still hear all the notes. I'd love to hear if you can record that sometime. I hope you and your family are all feeling well!
