    i have a tip for all you guys who are struggling!! when you are tying off a ring, bracelet, necklace, etc, you will simply use the FIRST step of tying a shoe, then act like you’re tying a normal knot but loop one end through the hole TWICE. once you pull it tight extremely tight your beads will stay in place!

      actually for me, using the surgeon's knot only once, as you describe, --> for every 6 tries, 3 of them break open while i'm wearing it. very frustrating picking up beads all the time. I'm trying to find bead cement but have no idea where to buy.

      I was having a difficult time creating a knot with .5 magic stretch. So what I decided to do is buy some metal crimping pieces and they hold the knot in place and they don’t look bad at all.

    • @dakotap3008
      @dakotap3008 7 місяців тому

      You say to repeat three to five more times. I’ve found the more knots that are made, the bigger and more visible the knot.

  • @OhCanadian

    After about five attempts and replacing the elastic, I managed to get the knot to stay by
    - pulling the cord as tight as I can
    -using nail polish (which i have been substituting for hypocement, etc. because it’s what I have and have read that it works) in three locations on the knot (under each end and on top of the knot) before cutting the ends of the knot off
    - keeping the knot pulled tight while waiting for the nail polish to dry
    -testing the knot before cutting the ends off the knot by pulling on the beaded bracelet on both sides of the knot
    -avoiding stretching the cord while cutting the ends (I had thought stretching to cut would help hide the ends in the knot)
    - then adding nail polish all around the knot after cutting the ends
    I don’t know why I’ve previously been able to make the knot stay for two precious bracelets without so many attempts. I wonder if it becomes more difficult as the cord ages.

    What is the 'figure 8 knot' suppose to do? It doesn't hold two ends together, all it does is make a knot (as you show), so you can't really use it for a bracelet. And the surgeons knot - it will pull apart after stretching it in opposite directions to put on your wrist, so, yes, make sure you put the glue on for sure and hope it helps. I followed these knots exactly. These knots are not helpful.
