as a guy who has learned how to solder electronics, i thought it was very sweet of you to spend a bit of time explaining the safety aspects of the soldering iron. most guys would skip right over that, and just assume everyone who is watching knows the tip is hot, and if they get burned, well it was their fault and they won't do it again. i think that's an interesting difference between men and women. thanks for the video!

Ummmm soooo honestly I don’t think it will be sturdy unless! Here is how I would do it. I would use a base and would add layers of solder on top. I will then build up solder to the top of the ring. Then I would carve out (once solder solidifies) family symbol etc. That would be a workaround. Also you would need to use sanding paper and wool to polish the ring. I hope this helps ♥️♥️
Yes:) I use solder fan that sucks in all the fumes. I wear a professional mask with filters and I have my windows open. Everyone should follow safety guidelines ☺️
Hi Tonya, in my experience it’s more typical to use brass. I have only used brass in the past. Here is a link to one of the brass tip cleaning scrubbers I found on Amazon ♥️Soldering Iron Tip Cleaner (Black) a.co/d/4sDLctM
Not all metals can be soldered together due to differences in their physical and chemical properties. Copper, brass, silver, gold, and nickel are commonly soldered due to their low melting points and ease of joining with various solders. However, aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel are challenging to solder due to their high melting points.
This was so helpful! I'm ordering my soldering iron soon. You're so funny! The part about the youtube channel was so relatable lol. I used to make videos and then I took them down because it's nerve racking! I commend you lol

@NEW BLOOMING MOON hi! Question. I use a combination of copper, aluminum and stainless steel wire for Headdress bases. Any rules, advice is soldering these substances?
I think if you use cover joints with copper tape you should be fine. It should solder anything as long as you have copper tape, flux and solder (lead free) ideally. I would though use wire to give it desired shape and keep parts together so there is less tension while your soldering. Once solder is set you would be able to remove temporary wires/ tape that would use to keep headpiece in shape 🥰♥️
@@eugeniaedits I am new here can you please share some links Ike you did with other items, please share some links of broken China and Chrystal’s that you know or used thanks
Hi there so happy you liked the video! It does not tarnish! I have been wearing two rings for 2 years and it I wash my hand wearing them, wash dishes and I even went to the gym few times they did not tarnish 💃🏻♥️ I was very concerned myself as I cannot stand when jewelry tarnishes as it’s such a waste. But lead free solder does not tarnish ♥️
Hi Kim :) you can if you used solder to creative a ring in the first place. If you used silver iron won’t be hot enough to melt it off. It can be tricky but if you used solder wire to make a ring you might be able to reheat the solder and take off the setting completely. I have not gotten into silver smithing yet so I don’t have any suggestions on how to fix it with torch. Thank you so much for your comment 😘🦋♥️
I have tried soldiering my tumbled small stones, as I like the raw look. Some work some don't. The tape releases and won't cling to stone. I think it's the moisture coming out of stone... Any ideas? I just want to make simple pendants with a jump ring attached for cord. Thanks love your vids.
Hi Elizabeth ☺️ I believe if the stones are tumbled they might be wet if you don’t wait enough time to dry them. So that could be one reason. Another reason could be that you might want to try using alcohol to degrease it. It could that the copper tape you are using is not sticky or sensitive to grease so using alcohol should help. Also I would just make sure you varnish copper tape so it’s super snug to the surface you are soldering :) And some surfaces are more difficult to adhere to them others. So might not be your fault at all ♥️♥️
Hi Debbie! These were my concerns as well and I was happy to discover that non of the soldered jewelry tarnish no matter how long you were and what environment you expose it. I was dishes in my rings, wash hands, go to the gym etc. They also do not transfer to skin - they don’t leave dark or green spots. The one thing to consider is the base of the ring you will be using. It has to be some kind of material that does not tarnish. I use copper rings cover with real sterling silver. So they don’t tarnish. ☺️
Hi Debbie, are you referring to soldering with sterling silver or having the base of the ring to be sterling silver? If you want to solder with sterling silver you would need a torch as the melting point of silver is higher than the alloy solder. But if you want to try to attach solder to a silver base you most likely will be able to if you would use a copper tape to a attach a soldered piece to it :)
Not the easiest to follow since she starts at the end, doesn't explain the copper material and left out how to prep a new tip. Trouble shooting would be helpful since 9 times out of 10, I failed. Still can't get it to work.
Hi Angela♥️Thank you for the feedback. I will film another video. What exactly is not working when you are soldering so I can address it in my next how to use soldering iron tutorial? Thank you! 😘
Hi ♥️I would say anything that has a temperature controlling knob and a docking station that you can rest your soldering iron on would be great. Don’t be afraid of them saying “electrical” they all are as the most common use of a soldering iron is for soldering motherboard etc. But we, artist, just use it as a jewelry tool to make beautiful strange things! ✨🥰☕️
