What Will Happen to Your Body If You Walk Every Day

- Walking is a totally free, easy exercise that requires little effort, and benefits not only your physical but also your mental well-being. If you’re looking for a simple yet very effective way of losing weight and improving your overall health, walking is something just for you.
People who are physically active throughout their life are much less prone to this disease than those who have a more sedentary lifestyle. And that’s because they have more volume in their hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for verbal memory and learning.
A daily half-hour walk helps avoid serious problems, like coronary heart disease to name one, by lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol levels and improving blood circulation. Because of better-quality and deeper breathing, some symptoms associated with lung disease can show significant improvement thanks to walking.
Muscle tone and weight loss is also totally achievable through simple walking. Find your optimal pace, but don’t break out into a jog. This sort of speed walking is low impact and doesn’t require any recovery time, which means no sore muscles to keep you from getting out and walking the next day.
The Arthritis Foundation recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate walking a day to reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the joints. Building strong bones will help you prevent osteoporosis and reduce bone loss. Walking contributes to better blood circulation within the spinal structures, pumping important nutrients into the soft tissues and improving posture and flexibility, both of which are vital for a healthy spine.
A group of researchers at Iowa State University worked with hundreds of college students. Walking changed their mood for the better, even though no one warned them it could do so.
If you still don’t feel motivated enough to start walking for your health, try joining a class or find a buddy who also wouldn’t mind getting all the benefits of walking. Another idea could be to hire a personal trainer.

SUMMARY
-Walking prevents the early onset of dementia, reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and improves your overall mental well-being by reducing stress and releasing endorphins.
-Get on the road to improve vision and protect your eyes now from potential problems, such as glaucoma, in the future.
-Walking is no less effective than running when it comes to the prevention of heart disease and stroke.
-Walking is an aerobic exercise, which means that it increases oxygen flow in the bloodstream and helps eliminate toxins and waste, which is great for your lungs.
-Walking for exercise is a surprisingly more effective way to prevent diabetes than running is.
-Just half an hour of walking every day not only lowers the risk of developing colon cancer but also improves digestion and regulates bowel movements.
-Just 10,000 steps a day can be just as effective as a full-blown workout at the gym, especially if you add some intervals or uphill walking.
-Walking can provide more joint mobility, prevent the loss of bone density, and even reduce the risk of fractures.
-Walking is a real life-saver for those who experience back pain during more challenging high-impact exercises.
-Walking improves depression symptoms in patients with MDD, just imagine how easily it could help us cope with just feeling down or exhausted.
-Keep in mind the FIT formula. It stands for Frequency (how often), Intensity (how fast), and Time (for how long).

I am 84 and had a heart attack 25 years ago. I walk 90 miles a month and it drives away depression. I am in better health than I have ever been. I have 60 BPM pulse, 119 chloresterol. My doctor calls me his hero. You just cannot be unhappy watching the sunrise and listening to Aretha Franklin R_E_S_P_E_C_T. I love life and surround myself with fun people.

I am 24 years old and currently over 18 stone. Last year my mental health hit rock bottom.. Last week I decided to ditch the antidepressants and get out walking on my own for 40-50 mins a day. Already I am feeling so much better and cried for the first time in years just at how much happier I am feeling (And possibly the side effects of not being on meds). I hope somebody reads this and makes the same decision I did- You can do it.

I have been sedentary so long that walking up and down steps is a chore. I was trying to walk up and down five steps (seven times) even that makes me short of breath. I'm going to walk in place and then march in place and I'm believing there will be a vast improvement. I weigh almost 300lbs around 280-290lbs. I want to lose 1-2 lbs a week. I'll see how it goes.

I go wallking every night for 40 minutes. My girlfriend of 4 years broke up with me yesterday and my heart is broken but I still pushed through my 40 minute walk tonight. I cried most of the way at first but I felt better after the walk. I hope walking helps the pain of my broken heart go away.
Update: So it's been nearly a year since this post and I found out a few months ago I wasn't just broken up with. I was being cheated on for about 4 months. I thought she was it and was gonna marry this woman but I dodged a bullet, I guess. She would have cheated on me eventually. I am still walking every day and I am seeing a therapist because she really did a number on my self esteem. Thank you all for all your supportive comments and encouragement. I am 60 pounds down and I don't think I would have had the strength to carry on with this weight loss if she hadn't shattered my heart because I only started walking to help me cope with the sadness of the breakup. I suppose everything happens for a reason.

Hang in there ...
I have diagnosed PTSD from being in a war while in the military. For 10 years I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle.
About two years ago I weighed 445 pounds. One day, something clicked in me and I realized I had enough. I went outside and went for a walk. I didn't do 30 minutes because I physically couldn't. But each day I went out and gradually increased how much I walked.
Now, two years later, I have lost over 200 pounds and I am walking 2 hours every morning. I've changed my diet and I have a social life with friends and family.
Walking not only changed my life, but it saved my life in ways no medication ever could.
My advice to anyone who wants it: Start small and don't give up. Just walk around the block. Build yourself up to that first mile. And, before you know it, you will be doing 7, 8....15 miles every day. Just don't give up.
I salute you. You're a real inspiration. Thanx for sharing.
Thank you for your service! I just wish it was worth it. Good luck to you with your journey. Stay healthy!

I've been walking at least 20,000 steps a day for the past 16mths and lost 12kgs. It's great for my mental health as well as my physical fitness. I used to find it hard to stay motivated but now it's become a way of life and l can't imagine not walking every day.
I used to work from home. One time I realised that I did not leave the house for 3 days. I then decided to get a dog so I can be forced to get out of the house on a daily basis. I now walk a minimum of 3 miles every day with the second dog. This was one of the best life decisions I’ve made.
Lucky dog! Mine only gets about a mile a day with me
to anyone, pls don't get a dog if you do not really love animals... taking care of animals is a commitment.
@@georgechrome4735 I apologize for the confusion. We wanted a dog for about a decade. We were both professionals with limited time spent at home and we did not think it would be fair to leave the dog alone all day long so we kept on postponing our decision. When I started telecommuting we could finally have a dog at home with me 24x7.. We loved our first dog and adore the second dog; both rescued dogs that saved us. We treat our dogs as our kids. I simply wanted to provide one of the many benefits dogs offer.

I'm 24 and my work has me in a chair most of the day.
I have recently developed moderate to severe back pain as well as sciatica running through my left leg.
Walking daily around 30-45 minutes has literally been a life saver. My lower back pain is barely noticeable now.

I've suffered with depression for years. Its so important to go outside to be under the beautiful nature, get some sonshine and exercise your muscles. You can lose muscle memory. Because of my depression its so important to me to force myself to get out and walk..its a way of encouraging
Me and to help prevent deep depression we could really lose our mind and hope and never return from that. So yes walking is very important for a healthy mind bodt and soul. May God grant us the will to be great Stewarts over all He's blessed us with. There ate so many people that would love to have legs to walk.God bless us all.
@Rhys’s Lowlux because He loves her. Look how she's still praising God even after she went through depression. People would never understand unless they experience the relationship themselves.
I used to walk b4 my kids and frm past 2 years I hvnt walk gain 82kg this is motivation I'll start walking fr an hour daily.. Wish me luck
Best of luck.
I walk daily 6000 steps to 10000. This is my favorite exercise because it's so simple,no extreme effort and most of all, for me, it's addicting because I don't feel any pain afterwards.
Music is the reason why I'm obsessed with walking. It makes me want to walk if the music I'm listening to is LIT.
Yes!!! Walking and listening to music is the best. 🎶🚶🏾♀️

i feel the same way you do.steve in Clearwater,fl.
lucy girl Hi. I think i can answer. It is good to walk about 5 km a day. I did it regularily from university to home. 5 days a week. But it is also possible to do it less often but longer distances. I did tours approx 2 times a month for at least 35 km. Ant ot still worked greatly on health. The effects are multiplied if you discover new beautiful places. Such tour has strength of any any anti depreßing medicine used. At least from positive symptpms. Funny thing is that you would get better even if your situation is not better. So happines need not to have rational basis other than walking.

I’ve had horrible back pain since I was 10. It comes and goes. It got really bad last year and the beginning of this year. I started chiropractic treatment. And he told me that I need to walk 30 minutes a day to strengthen my back. I walked in my driveway with a cane. It was painful. But I did it. I got a treadmill. And I’ve kept it up for almost a month now. My back feels better than it has in over a year. And that’s just after a few weeks. I can’t wait to see how much better I feel in a few more months.
That’s awesome
Watching this while walking and I can't stop smiling. I'm proud of myself
Dude, I walk every day and that is the single best thing you can do to your body to get fit naturally. I got six pack 24/7 all around the year. so I vouch for this video. cheers!!
Wow that's great!
You get six pack abs from just walking or doing other exercise as well?
I am 84 years old with many health conditions. I started walking daily only 4 days ago for @ ten minutes, with a cane, at a rather slow pace. I can already feel the benefit of this mild activity. I have started using my walker at home far less during the day and seem to have more energy. And it's only been FOUR days! I plan to slowly increase the time and distance but plan to walk daily as possible. What better easier gift could I give myself!
Wonderful, I wish you a happy, healthy life 😊
You're doing great, awesome! Keep up the good work!🌷

My mother in law is 97 and doesn’t take any medication. She has walked all her life. I wish you good health, moving your body everyday is so important ! Keep the cane though, you may need it when you’re 105😃
I’ve been walking 3 miles a day and doing light dumbbell workouts after for 10 months and I have lost 60 lbs and have the same body as I did when I was 20. Amazing!
Walking is definitely a part of my life. In 2014 when I started walking 2 miles a day I weighed 273 lbs. One year later with a combination of better diet and increased walking I went down to 165 lbs. It's now 2021 and I walk on average 9 miles a day 6 days a week and the weight is still off. While for a time I walked on a treadmill at the gym, I now walk outside and enjoy listening to music and enjoying the sunshine. It's something everyone can do, even if it's just a little.
So you really can loose weight by walking? I'm going to start. I want a better life 😫
Very amazing! Well done keeping it going.
@@DogMommy. honestly you can. I was killing myself at the gym and doing crazy diets like Keto. As soon as I got off the diet I gained it all back and then some. I had to take a break from the gym due to injuries. I started walking only & no snacking before or after meals (intermittent fasting) and I lost weight easier, faster and more enjoyable.
@@DogMommy. The important thing IMO to remember is to start slow, but enough to push yourself. It's amazing how your endurance goes up after not long and the payoff is worth it. Best yet it's something you can keep doing. I'm 71 and walking 10 miles a day is both satisfying and effective.

How long do you walk each day and how many days of the week
I started walking after work each day around a local lake, about 2.5 mi. It was beautiful. When the season changed and it was too dark, I went indoors. In front of the tv I have an exercycle. It uses my arms and legs, and my heart and lungs. I slowly worked up to 90 min a day. I've been doing it for about ten years now. I feel great. I'm 71 yr, 5'11", 145 lb. I hope to grow to be old. I'm still enjoying life. Best wishes to all.

Yes. Walking is a great exercise program that also shakes away those pounds
