      I have an FJ-09 that the previous owned "improved" with a different map, exhaust, and intake. Sure it got an increase of 8-9 HP, but LOST 20% fuel economy, even when hyper-driving (hypermilling). "Moral of the Story": The Yamaha Engineers know best how to optimize performance VS fuel economy. Most people want the T7 for an "Adventure" bike.

    The air filter pack is interesting. Good idea. I use the Hiflofiltro. It look very similar to the original one. My off rad is max 1% of my whole riding. But I want to ride a bit more off rad in the future.
    Still I get enough power of my T7. There is no need for different mapping. But the difference of the few horsepower more (real test at the air field , TOP !) was astonishing.

    I don't have this kit, but my T7 has the ECU remapped, full exhaust system and a Twin Air filter, and makes quite a nice difference. The engine pulls harder, better acceleration and there's more torque available. Very usable in the trails. But this air filter kit is something maybe one day i will try. Anyway, great video.

  • @TheRadgeOne
    @TheRadgeOne 9 місяців тому

    It's good to see the airfilter's priced under the Brexit Duties trigger of £135 👍
    I have a full titanium Akrapovic system on my 21 T7 Rally and have fitted the DimSport tuning module and love the extra power, which makes overtaking quicker and safer.
    Keep up the good work Robert.

  • @MrBigPipesYT
    @MrBigPipesYT 9 місяців тому

    Sweet package. The ECU tune is the big part. I didn't tune my T7, just swapped the can for a Mivv Dakar. But if I were to install a performance intake and header, would definitely tune the ECU. There's places you can send them into to in the US. But I'd just bite the bullet and take it to a dyno. Lower fan temps and optimized fueling with an unrestricted intake/exhaust is definitely going to add some power. As well as weight savings.

    With this wide open air intake an ECU remap is mandatory to prevent a too lean mixture and an potential engine damage. Also in case you'll add race pipes with less resistance.

    I wonder why the original setup has that long snorkel ? does it do anything at all? the power curve with the new filter and mapping has exactly the same little dips and hikes. Just more of everything overall. I was hoping for a slightly more exiting topend so that the fun lasts a little bit longer into the high rev range.

    • @TonySK78
      @TonySK78 2 місяці тому +1

      the design of the snorkel is to prevent water from entering the engine through the air filter when dropping the bike in the water. When laying on the side or tipped over, it should create an air pocket inside, thus preventing the water from entering, I assume.

    it's not good, that cover lets the water fall into the airbox which, being sealed, cannot evacuate it, it will all go into the engine.
    I'm talking about water taken during the rain and during the motorcycle wash.
    I did several tests over the years and as far as it increased it was dangerous for water.. in an hour of driving in the rain I found a lot of water inside the filter box.
