    Thanks, Mate! All very good, but at 5:36 You're leaving the Event ID blank. How are you deduping your data? Isn't this giving you Pixel warnings (or double counting some leads)?

      I did this set-up and it doesn't de-duplicate. I found that using a combo of pixel data and Facebook Offline Conversions through Zapier (connect to wherever the action takes place) is best. It deduplicates this way.

I set my conversions API up using the exact method you used here and facebook is indeed receiving events now but I keep getting an error message saying I need to include the right EVENT ID in my conversions API requests in order for deduplication to work properly.
      Do you know where and how I can find the EVENT ID inside facebook so I can place it in the CAPI integration in zapier?

Didn't find the answer of this: will this duplicate the data in case a user both got tracked by the web pixel and the suscription-email marketing-zapier at the same time? I know that dual events have this "Elimination of duplicates of events"... Thank you in advance!

    Hey Andrew very good video, but what i would really like to see is a video on "HOW TO CREATE AN ALLOW LIST FOR FB MANAGER",..i think this is a very important topic especially with all the IOS-14 changes that are happening in FB now, like for instance now it's becoming a problem to use THIRD PARTY domains for funnel use on your campaigns and not much is being explained on how to integrate them, i verified my domain on bluehost but i use "inboxblueprint.net" for my funnel, it wasn't a problem before the IOS-14 update & i'm pretty sure there is a lot of people running into this issue; I know your the perfect guy to break down the solution so i want to thank you in advance 👍

      Unfortunately an allow list won't solve that problem though. The only way forward will be to verify the domains you want to use for conversion campaigns

    Andrew, first-thank you so much for this, this is exactly what I've been looking for.
    Second-how does this relate to actual site traffic, not just converters? Is it possible to track site visitors using the CAPI, or just people who convert to a lead?

      This is just for tracking conversions rather than general site traffic. Because we need to pass back data to match users on it doesn’t work with general site traffic

    Hi Andrew, Thanks a lot for this video. Finally a great tutorial on this topic. But the last piece is the event_id regarding the deduplication. Do you have any idea how to fix that?       Yeah, unfortunately you need a separate zap for each product / buyer list if you want to pass through the purchase value as well.
      I think we talked about the page views, start of purchase question in another comment already, so I won't dive into that one here 🙂

      Thanks Cecilia! Do you mean uploading CSV's for Custom Audiences? If so, it doesn't replace that (though there are separate tools that can do that for you :) )

    Hey Andrew, that was really helpful. Thanks for that! But there's still a problem I have: Facebook says, that I have to deduplicate my lead-event. Since weeks I'm trying to figure out how to do it, but I don't find a way. Also Facebooks "Deduplicate Pixel and Server Events" article didn't help. And I can't find anything about it in the world wide web either. Can you help in that case?

    Unfortunately this isn't useful until someone figures out how to match the Event ID across both browser and server side events otherwise you will simply be double counting in your ads manager. I haven't found any evidence that FB dedupes using other fields if the event ID is blank.

      In summary
      - Get a developer to set a parameter in the FB browser pixel code where you are tracking the event. Make sure its unique. The comments in the link suggest taking the date / time as a way to grab a unique digit.
      - On the server side. For us we are using Hubspot forms on our landing pages and website so we just needed to track this when a form is submitted. We place the ID generated in the above point and store it in a custom field. Then get Zapier to send that data to FB via their API and that way you have the same ID coming from the server side and the pixel side. Hope that helps.

    Is zapier the best method still? Wouldn't every single pass of a customer to FB count as a "task" in zapier? Whether its pageview/purchase etc. Thus if you're advertising budget it normal to high, you'd eat up quite a lot of zapier tasks. You'd have to be in quite a high zapier plan.. unless I'm missing something.

    Hi Andrew, great video! Question: if you set it up like this, does this mean you don't have to add your Pixel and events for the conversion? Woud you get double the leads if you did?

      That's correct, you can decide to use just this and not the pixel if you like. If you use both you need to set up deduplication in order to make sure you don't get double counting.

      Yes... the problem is duplication. If you don’t put dynamic event I’d both in pixel and server.. everything is duplicated... this is the problem that I don’t know how to fix with these kind of tools..

    Hello Andrew, fantastic video! My CAPI partnership with Zapier is firing from the Zapier side and also firing in the Events Manager, however, it's NOT showing as data coming from the Server side. Not sure what I've done incorrectly here. Any help from the community would be great. Also, a second question, I'm driving traffic to a Clickfunnels purchase page that Zaps to my CRM which Zaps to my FB Conversions. If my pixel code on the CF landing page has 'value' and 'currency' values will this Zap information duplicate the conversion information and inaccurately double my ROAS?

    Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions.
    Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting.
    To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser.
    Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook.
    But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager…
    For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from.
    So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with…
    1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting?
    2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run?
    3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?

    Hi, I'm trying to figure out where to set the Facebook API event_name parameter so I can deduplicate server and pixel events. I don't see an event_name option in Zapier, any idea on where I might find that value?

      @@Ryan-bw8im I did! It's been a while since I worked it out, but if I recall correctly at 3:20 in the video where he is putting in the "Action Event" I believe I clicked "Send Other Event". Click the input box again, then you may notice you get a typing cursor in that input box. You can actually just type in your own event name there.

      Hey Oliver - hard to say, but it could be an error in the data you're sending back, or a mismatch of the test code. Check those and see if it helps.

    So this is assuming your email service provider gets updates whenever somebody becomes a lead OR purchases, right?
    How do we set that first step up?
    Wait... What if someones becomes a lead or purchases, but that came from another source?
    They still go to your email list, but they might not have came from Facebook, right?

      Yes. I can't really explain that in a comment here unfortunately.
      Facebook knows which leads and purchases come from Facebook ads vs. which ones didn't. It has an attribution system to handle this.

Question about deduplication...I believe Facebook uses 'Event ID' to deduplicate, but I'm not sure what to include in the 'Event ID' field when creating the zap, since I'm assuming the Event ID is unique for every event. Any ideas? Is leaving the field blank the answer?

      Good question Ben. It does use the Event ID to deduplicate events if you provide it, but if you don't provide an event ID it will dedup based on the information it does have (date & time of event, user's email address, name, etc.). So it's generally fine to leave blank and FB will deduplicate based on those other parameters

      After further testing, I'm seeing a lot of duplicates come in. Events manager is saying that without an event ID, purchases will be double counted. I'm assuming both the pixel code and the zapier setup would need to include an event ID for it to work, and I'm guessing the event ID would need to be unique for every transaction/event that happens. But I have no idea how to set that up. Any ideas? Should I just resort to server-side only for tracking purchases, and if so, any downsides to this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello Andrew! I would like to ask about event deduplication!
    When I copy the event id from the browser and paste it in Zapier and when I test them, they are deduplicated which is great! How about when you remove the test code and the event ID is the same in the Zapier tool and you receive an event from the browser with a different id! Do they synch?
    Because you paste event id that is already generated in browser but event IDs in the browser are every time different! When you turn on the Zap you have already deduplicated with previous event ID but they are changing over time!
    Can you give some advice, please!

      Nope, not at the moment anyway.
      The only way to do it with Wordpress is with a plug-in that supports conversion API

      No worries at all. Well there are other ways, but this one is relatively quick and easy compared to them.
      For example, you can use GTM server side tagging to do it but that’s a lot more complicated to set up. The benefit of gtm server side implementation is you can do deduplication which you can’t do with this Zapier method, meaning if you also use the pixel you’ll get duplicated reaults
