Hi! What type of custom event are you trying to set up? One of the examples we did shows us clicking the +Track New Button, which allowed us to select different parts of our web page as an event to track. That should help you set up similar events based around website clicks, but please let us know if you have a more specific conversion event you're trying to work out!
Just found you and the info you give & presentation is brilliant! Pls tell me, should I delete my FB pixels and replicate them in API to avoid duplication? Also, a suggestion… could you create a video explaining use of Google Analytics and tracking FB Pixel through it and compare which is the best way of tracking the Pixel? Thanks!
Depending on how you set up your events, you may not need to delete your Pixel! Facebook has a process call deduplication which specifically helps to avoid duplicate events between your Pixel and API. You can learn more about it here: facebook.com/business/help/823677331451951?id=1205376682832142. Also thank you for the suggestion! We've made note of it, and will look into making a video around that topic :)
Thank you Great Valuable Information What do you suggest if i want to add 8 events to track on my first T-Shirts website, what 8 events you think most important to track
The core ones would be page views, leads (email subs), add to cart, checkout, purchases. But it depends how many shirts and variations you have because you may want to track button clicks in the beginning to see which shirts people are most attracted to
If someone followed me around, watched what I did, took that information and sold it to a marketing company, they would probably be liable to stalking, invasion or privacy amongst other offences. Apparently though if it happens online, it is okay. Bit of a grey line going on here. If people want to block trackers, they should be able to do so. Having said that, great video and well presented. I learned a lot.
Great question! Since WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin, you should be able to set up CAPI through either one. I'd suggest setting it up through WooCommerce if you're focusing specifically on tracking ecommerce events, or setting it up through WordPress if you have other parts of your website that you want to track as well.
hello can you please answer me when you set up the Facebook pixel events in your website using (Facebook event setup tool ) and then you set up the conversion API my question is now for every event happen in your website you will receive two events in your Facebook for example when someone end up with the thank you page so you will get two events (one from the browser side and the same event sent from the server side and it will be deduplicated ) ? or you need to set up the same events for the server side so it can track and send the events to the Facebook ? Thank you very much
If both Facebook pixel and Conversion API are set up to track the same events, Facebook will automatically discard the the duplication of the data through a process called deduplication. If the events are different for conversion API and pixel, you won't run into this issue. Which ever events you choose to track, the data will be sent to Facebook
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta how can i know that the facebook pixel and the conversion API are tracking the same events ? if i set up the facebook pixel events with the setup tool in my website and then set up the Conversion API so any event that I already done using facebook pixel setup tool will be sent by both browser and server right ? i mean the conversion api will recognize and track the same events set up by the facebook pixel and send it to facebook from the server side or there is extra work to do ^so the conversion API can send the same events that i have on my website to facebook (from the server side )

Hi! Thank you so much for this video! I have some questions: Should I remove the facebook pixel from the website which is added in tag manager? And how to measure the conversion value for woocommerce does it add it automatically?
You can keep your Facebook Pixel installed just to take advantage of the data is does collect. To see conversion value, you'll likely need to set up your product catalog. Woocommerce has a great step by step article on conversion tracking here: woocommerce.com/document/conversion-tracking-pro/
I've watched this video again great tutorial, do you know if having multiple tracked events can help with the FB alg for conversion ads if that makes sense?
Great question! Tracking events does help you within the algorithm, because Facebook is able to take the data you get from these ads and continuously optimize the audiences you're reaching. For example, if most of your ad conversions are coming from a certain demographic, then Facebook will be able to start showing your ads to more of this same demographic as your advertising efforts continue.
Hi great video. Loved your background colours and presentation. I though wanted to understand , what exactly do we mean by only 8 events. Can we track page visits ? If yes , can we track only one page's visit now or any page's visit. If any page's visit then can we still retarget people based on who visited page 1 but not page 2 ? Would love it if you consider me as a new learner and explain in as much detail as you are comfortable with. Likewise purchase event , what if I have 50 products , sale of all those will be tracked exclusively, right ?
Hello! So to start off, Facebook has what they call "standard events," which are predefined actions that are commonly performed by individuals when visiting a business page. They have a full list of what they consider a standard event here: facebook.com/business/help/402791146561655?id=1205376682832142. Essentially, the 8 event limit means that you can select up to 8 of the events from this list to use for your own tracking purposes. (Custom events are an option as well, but some of these work differently under the 8 event limit rule.) Page visits count as a standard event, so you *are* able to use this for your CAPI, although it may be referred to as "view content" or something similar. You should be able to track multiple pages, but you may not be able to see the specific content on those pages your visitors are looking at. And as for tracking purchases, this should count as one standard event and cover all of the products you have listed. Thanks for watching, and we hope this helps!
Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions. Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting. To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser. Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook. But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager… For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from. So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with… 1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting? 2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run? 3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?
1. Facebook and Google have different ways of attributing conversion events, so that may be causing some discrepancies. We suggest checking out this Facebook article on Advanced Matching to see if this method will help minimize incorrect attributions: facebook.com/business/help/611774685654668?id=1205376682832142 2. Yes, your ad data will effect your future performance within the algorithm. This will just mean that your ads won't be as optimized as they could be, but that doesn't mean your ad performance will get worse per se. 3. This is really a judgement call for you. You may want to hold off on scaling certain ads while you're still having attribution issues, but you could also look at the data you *do* have and work off of that for now. If you decide to go that route, then we suggest taking smaller steps with your scaling, just to make sure that you're not getting in too deep with a certain ad in case that's not the one that's actually getting you the best results. We hope this helps!
Facebook Ads have been going strong for a while, and we believe that they'll still be valuable as time goes on! The fact that Facebook is the largest social media platform *and* it offers a ton of ad options already means that business owners can still reliably count on FB to help them generate real results 👍

Cool video! Solves the problem with WP sites and PIxel, but what about custom built websites e.g. with vanilla HTML, CSS or React? How would proceed to integrate the CAPI on such a website that is not partnering with Zapier? Thank you in advance.
Great questions! CAPI partner integration is available through more platforms than just Zapier, and you can find a list of other compatible platforms here: facebook.com/business/help/260370078559247. If you can't find the partner platform you're looking for, then you can request that partner platform through Facebook or reach out to the platform itself to see if they can assist you. Generally, however, if you don't see your partner platform listed, or if you're based on a custom built website that doesn't use a partner platform, then you'll likely need to install it manually.
Hi there! When you see that the events are being fired in Facebook pixel helper, are those browser events or server events? I mean, if pixel helper is showing that events are being fired, that means that CAPI was set up correctly?
Hello! From what I understand, Facebook Pixel Helper isn't intended to integrate with CAPI. This means that the events you're seeing are browser events, and that you'd have to find another way to check if your CAPI is running correctly. Fortunately, Facebook has an article here explaining how to navigate & test CAPI: facebook.com/business/help/898185560232180?id=1205376682832142
Great video and content. Love the presentation. I am affiliate marketer and my most valuable events are purchase and initiate check out which occur on the vendor's site. How would I set up those events for the FB conversion API? Thank you.
Great question! So it should be a similar process as the one we cover in this video, however, you just need to make sure that your vendor is 1. able to set up the Pixel on their website before you add events and 2. that you have admin access to their Business Manager. Everything after that will just be setting up your events through Events Manager, and selecting the placement on the vendor's website. If that doesn't work, try one of of Facebook's other setup options: facebook.com/business/help/43349304136A7251?id=818859032317965
thank you for this great video. so basecilly we are only supporting our pixel buy adding API in our servers ? like my old events they will stay still, and I do not have to delete my old events because I want to install CAPI ? just adding the plug in, verify and link it to my ad account and to my pixel account and then I just continue the same old way nothing more. because at first I thought I have to forget about Facebook pixel and do everything from zero.
Yes, API functions similarly to your Pixel, and it doesn't interfere with the events you already created. However, sometimes your events will be counted twice if you have both set up, so you should look into Facebook's deduplication methods here: facebook.com/business/help/823677331451951?id=1205376682832142. Essentially this will just make sure that your events are being tracked and counted properly! Hope this helps :)
Hey I have a question. Does the pixel also track people that go to your website without goin on through an add. Example, I drop somebody the url on messenger or my Facebook page. Will the pixel pick them up, assuming they haven’t opted out of tracking??? This is a very important question for me
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta please sir, am unable to create my business account to start following up with you, please which app I suppose to use in creating my account, thanks
Great video. Based on what you said about the IOS update & ad blockers, do you think Conversion campaigns would perform better with conversions created from the Conversions API as opposed to Custom Conversions?
Hello, please I have created fb event set up immediately I installed Facebook pixel. Can I still go ahead for Facebook conversion API, and do I delete the fb event set up I already created to start with conversion API. Thanks
Great question! It's not necessary to delete your Pixel after setting up Conversion API. Facebook has a process call deduplication which allows users to keep your events from being counted twice while you're using both methods. You can learn more about that here: facebook.com/business/help/823677331451951?id=1205376682832142
The best video at the moment explaining the conversion API. May i ask sometihing: So, if i go the data sources menu in my evenets managers and click connect data sources, then there are 2 option: Conversion API and Pixel. If i choose Conversion API, can i directly set up the Conversion API without having a Facebook Pixel at all? And if i click on Facebook pixel, there is set up process with the plug in that you showed on this video. Does this mean, that i will create the pixel as well as the Conversion API at the samo time with this plug in set up? Now my idei is to set up the pixel manually, without setting up the pixel events and then set up the Conversion API as you showed and set up Conversion API evenets, so i wiil have only server events from the Conversion API. I don't know if this is correct or not.
You should have Pixel already set up before you set up CAPI. We also recommend that you utilize the tracking functions of both, but if you only want to track server events, then your plan should work.
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta Thank you again, you make very comprehansive and helpful videos. Is it a problem, if i set both browser and server events? I've read about the deduplication, but it's a little bit confusing, how to do it. I've read that soon the pixel will be gone, and what will happen after that, just server tracking or?

In Ads Manager, you can click columns and select the "performance and clicks" filter. Then scroll to the right to see website purchases (which is the number of purchase events tracked by the pixel or Conversions API on your website and attributed to your ads).
Hello sir, I tried installing CAPI using wordpress as wordpress as partner integration. I have Facebook wordpress pluging already, I used it for installing pixel. But I can't continue for conversion API. because FACEBOOK FOR WORDPRESS PLUGING says: YOUR BUSINESS IS CONNECTED TO FACEBOOK. I have deactivate and activated the pluging, still the same.
Hi there - I've tried looking into this, but can't seem to find a straightforward solution. Your best bet may be to contact Facebook or WordPress support directly to see if they can resolve this issue for you. Sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully this can be fixed for you soon!
Hey, I’m wondering if someone could help? Ok here’s the thing, when I’m running a Conversion campaign I have my Conversion Event set to “purchases” Everything is all set up correctly in the Events manager to keep up to date with the new IOS 14 changes. But here’s the problem… I’m having an issue when it comes to tracking my purchases that are made from PayPal. You see, Facebook isn’t able to pick up PayPal payments because of the delay time during the Paypal payment confirmation window… Customers are clicking off before being redirected back to my Order Complete page, which has the tracking info required for Facebook to track. So in a nutshell, I’m only getting data for purchases coming back from stripe payments and losing out on the metrics of PayPal orders. So any advice would be appreciated on how I can get around this issue.
Hi Adam - I tried to do some research on this, and found someone with a similar problem. This example focuses a lot on the coding aspect of purchase events, but hopefully their conclusions will help you find some workarounds for your issue: stackoverflow.com/questions/66986558/conversions-api-events-sent-from-stripe-handler-not-reach-even-test-events-tab

Everything after that will just be setting up your events through Events Manager, and selecting the placement on the vendor's website.
If that doesn't work, try one of of Facebook's other setup options: facebook.com/business/help/43349304136A7251?id=818859032317965
I already did this but how is this connection to the server installed on the website right?
Once you've verified your domain and set up conversion API, it will be set up for you to create and manage events!
Is API stands for Ads performance Index ?
Not quite - it stands for Application Programming Interface
Can we do it for personal ad account? Please reply
As long as your personal ad account is connected to your Business Manager, then you should be able to set up FB Conversion API with it!
thank you for this great video.
so basecilly we are only supporting our pixel buy adding API in our servers ?
like my old events they will stay still, and I do not have to delete my old events because I want to install CAPI ? just adding the plug in, verify and link it to my ad account and to my pixel account and then I just continue the same old way nothing more.
because at first I thought I have to forget about Facebook pixel and do everything from zero.
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta thanks 🙏 it was very helpful
Hey I have a question. Does the pixel also track people that go to your website without goin on through an add. Example, I drop somebody the url on messenger or my Facebook page. Will the pixel pick them up, assuming they haven’t opted out of tracking??? This is a very important question for me
It tracks any and all traffic to your website!
Please can digital marketing be available in all parts of Africa?
We hope so, in the future!
Absolutely would use Facebook Conversion API, that’s what we are doing for all our clients
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta I’ll probably start making the switch too. Thanks man!
My friend, do you mean actually into your website and create the ad over there?
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta I definitely need your help further.
Thanks for your response. I appreciate
Does is block the tacking code? Or the website?
Hello! Can you be more specific with your question?
The best video at the moment explaining the conversion API. May i ask sometihing:
So, if i go the data sources menu in my evenets managers and click connect data sources, then there are 2 option: Conversion API and Pixel.
Can this be linked to GTM somehow?
Yes! Check out this article here: facebook.com/business/help/702509907046774
no option for bigcartel? looks like im screwed then
If you follow the steps on this site: leadsbridge.com/documentation/bigcartel/facebook-conversions-api/ you might be able to add BigCartel. Let us know is this is helpful!
Is this different from how you install the pixel?
Yes, it is!
Firstly it was a great and informative video. Cleared a few doubts. But I want to know Do we need to do CAPI only to track IOS device events or it has to be done for Android devices as well?
And how do I setup CAPI for in app tracking say like registrations after installing?
Thanks again
Thanks for watching! CAPI should be able to handle both iOS and Android events. And here's a Facebook article that goes more in to depth about setting up app tracking events: developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/app-event-api
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta thank you
Hi, I'm creating a campaign in Facebook add and got this message under CONVERSION EVENT '' This event hasn’t been prioritized for iOS 14.5. Ad sets using this event may not be delivered to people who opt out of tracking on iOS 14.5 or later devices'' Can you please tell me how do I fix it I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much

Agreed
I have an Etsy. How would this work for that since it a marketplace site ? I’m so stuck 😩
Are you currently tracking conversions with Facebook ads and Etsy?
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta Etsy won’t allow me to ad the pixel to track or do adds so I feel stuck !
@@kuandlisa9534 I'm afraid etsy may not be compatible with FB ads. You should look into starting your own website or using etsy ad products

Where do I find the revenue generated from my Facebook Pixel? It used to be in analytics but they took that away. I cannot find it anywhere!
In Ads Manager, you can click columns and select the "performance and clicks" filter. Then scroll to the right to see website purchases (which is the number of purchase events tracked by the pixel or Conversions API on your website and attributed to your ads).
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta Thanks! In the past, if it said 0 website purchases, but still tracked revenue and purchases.... how was that possible?
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta thank so much
Hey, I’m wondering if someone could help?
Ok here’s the thing, when I’m running a Conversion campaign I have my Conversion Event set to “purchases”
Everything is all set up correctly in the Events manager to keep up to date with the new IOS 14 changes.
But here’s the problem…
I’m having an issue when it comes to tracking my purchases that are made from PayPal.
You
see, Facebook isn’t able to pick up PayPal payments because of the
delay time during the Paypal payment confirmation window…
Customers
are clicking off before being redirected back to my Order Complete page,
which has the tracking info required for Facebook to track.
So in a nutshell, I’m only getting data for purchases coming back from
stripe payments and losing out on the metrics of PayPal orders.
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta Hi thank you for your response, it is helpful I unfortunately am unfamiliar with what programming language that is required even though I have some experience with C#. That stackoverflow post seems to be similar to what Im looking for if its possible for Paypal to "let facebook know" a sale has been made and to track the person as a conversion
What to do when it’s not tracking all the purchases. Yesterday I had 36 purchases. It only counted 10
Are you sure all the purchases were directly from Facebook ads?
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta yes
Facebook has a great article here that walks through how to test & troubleshoot your events: facebook.com/business/help/2040882565969969?id=1205376682832142. We suggest trying this method out first, but please let us know if you have any other issues!
@@LYFEMarketingAtlanta what’s the matter?
Pixel isn’t done to track only Purchases from ads, it should track every single purchase on the website, even organic ones.
That’s because then the algo can elaborate a more accurate public based on the datas.
Now that many events are missing the algo is much less effective and imprecise
Basically atm the FB pixel sucks, that’s why many big companies are moving to other pixels to track datas
same issue . have you found a solution
