This song was played when my mum was buried. She was not only a very good mother but also a friend and not only for me, everyone liked her. It was like she had some special around her. Mum I miss you, one day I will see you again.
Rest in peace. I miss my mum too, whom I lost in 2016
Lord will be with you😥
I'm so sorry for your loss
❤
@@oldacount12 god love her xxx
I am not from Scotland, but I think the nation of Scotland has some if the most beautiful music on Earth.
the words were written by a Scotsman, the tune was written by Henry Monk he was English.
NO other country has fought & won the right to be justifiable proud & protect its intregity if you're a Scott you'd know what it's all about,Bless Scotland the great I Love Scotland as a Highlander!
My Dad was Scottish. I love the bagpipes.. my Dad had some bagpipes.. and over the years and moving we lost track of them
SAME HERE AUSTIN........ACTUALLY I'M NURSING A PIPE RIGHT NOW.....IF I'M SMOKING IT DOES MEAN I'M PLAYING A PIPE?....HAHA?
Yes I'm agree with you I'm from Pakistan
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
amen to that
We Will remember them.
Amen to that, for my brothers and friends in arm
Here Here! Couldn't agree more.
Amen he's our Only help & hope otherwise their Is none & my lord have mercy on your Soul!
I'm from Scotland I love listening to the pipes and drums I even have a tear in my eye now. I moved to Australia in 1970.
IN MEMORY OF THE FALLEN ON THE 1ST JULY 100 YEARS AGO AT THE BATTLE OF THE SOAME, RIP ALL YOU BRAVE LADS
AYE
My grandad was there and lost 3 brothers
100,000 went over the top.
20,000+ never returned
COINNEACH GILLEMOIRE I went there, on June 15th, It was also my first ferry trip, my first trip without taking a plane or train, and those men stood where I stood
Fortunately my great grandfather survived lost an eye ,was never same person again I’m told.
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens Lord, with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away
Change and decay in all around I see
O Thou who changest not, abide with me
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness
Where is death's sting?
Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me
Abide with me, abide with me
Absolutely beautiful, my dog died today and listening to this makes me cry hard but in a good way, May God rest his loving soul 💔❤️🩹
I am British, but always loved the Scots! Love the pipes and drums. No one can play them like they can
When I heard the pipes and drums during the queens funeral I melted. No better thing!
Aren't the Scots included under the British umbrella, though? I mean, I don't come from the UK clearly, but I thought that Britain included Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Northern Ireland?
I gave my life to Christ this year. For all the brave men and women in our hospitals.
Bless you sir
what has he done with it? and what benefit did the brave men and woman get?
God bless you mate.
Can't listen to it without crying for my brothers and sisters in arms. Thank you for sharing this.
Rest in peace our Beautiful Queen I will miss you 😢 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Here Here! Then and Now!
Chilling! Yes Lord Jesus we need you during these times! Lord what would we do without you! Lord yes Lord Abide with us! Love you Jesus!
AMEN
Amen to that. Greetings from Australia.
Amen!
Amen 🙏
My love for the brave Scottish people. Long live Scotland and live brave and honest men, who are the ones who have a great heart to love their country. A big hug from Juanjo, a Spanish legionary.
Hello from a canadian with Scottish german heritage
I find that this hymn comforts you in times of sorrow and strengthens your faith to carry on, beautiful performance !!
One of the most amazing versions I have come across... I lost my Nan last month and because of covid current lockdown can’t have church service so we had this playing from the house as the hearse went round the road was a very moving tribute my Nan lived in London but was born in Glasgow 🏴
May she rest in peace...
Respect to you and your family in your time of loss.
God bless Her Majesty, may she rest in peace.
100 years ago we all stood together lets stay together in honer of those men
When other helpers fail,
And comforts flee,
Help of the helpless - Oh, abide with me.
In life in death o Lord abide with me
David Wallace Biig
So true..
Here here! Couldn't agree more with that point of order. Or the sentiment of this hymn.
Jesus, the help of helpless 😍
About a year ago I heard this arrangement for the very first time. I had been thinking of my neighbor who had been suffering from brain cancer. I found out the next day that it was at the moment I was listening to that arrangement of the hymn that he had passed away. I am always amazed by the tender mercies of Christ.
Listen to your heart, wherever your from, we Scots will protect you. ALBA
Proud to be an Ulster Scot.🇬🇧
God Save The Noble Queen.
May the reign of Great Britain Continue

The combined pipes and brass of the RSDG give this magnificent hymn its own special interpretation. Thanks for the post and peace and goodwill to all who pass this way.
God bless all who hears this this is God's country Scotland UK
I love this one. It’s so sad . And I will hopefully be serving those soldiers myself with medical care. They always have a special place in my heart ❤❤❤
This came up on my UA-cam today, my husband’s birthday. He died Oct 25, 2021. It’s most beautiful with the pipes.
Absolument merveilleux ! Les images sont magnifiques, l'Ecosse, pays de mes lointains ancêtres, est magnifique.
Ahah same
Just completely sublime, every single aspect of it.
Thank you for this video. I am writing a novel about a WWI soldier who lost his life in France in 1917. I listen to "Abide with Me" for inspiration when thinking about his sacrifice. The bagpipes send chills down my spine.
Thanks to my friend Kate that lives in England and I'm in Scotland sent me this link as I recently lost my mother then soon after I lost my brother.. Lovely to listen to even though in tears
I now consider this hymn as my top favourite one of all. And perhaps this is where I realised in 2009. I hadn't grieved properly. It was the kick in the backsides as needed.
This theme raises the hair on the back of my neck..and brings a spiritual feeling around me.
RIP - Sgt Danny Elliot, Cpl Thomas Sayer, Pte Warren Pritchard, SSGT Brian Ellis, Pte Tommy Jones, Pte Declan Smith. I miss you so much. 22ASAX

Such an emotional tune I can't help but get goosebumps when I hear this.
A moving performance of a moving song with images that never fail to move me to desperation to see Scotland in person. I'm moved. ....And do I want to be put back? No. Think I'll just watch the video again....
This is the one song, with simple but powerful words, and the bagpipes.

I usually hate abide with me on the bagpipes but combined with other instruments and the way it has been played makes this the best version by far. When I die I will have a horse drawn hurse with the band playing walking infront and family and friends walking behind all listening to this.
How can you hate abide with me regardless of how its played it is,in my opinion the best song of salutation ever written.
