I have that CoverGirl lipstick. I like it very much. I've always been a fan of frosted pink lipsticks. I like layering my lipsticks on my lips like Marilyn Monroe did that way you have your own unique color.
I agree with your opinion about Pink in the Afternoon. I don’t believe it was the shade Audrey wore in the film. I do know that makeup artist Lisa Eldridge actually has a lipstick that did belong to Audrey Hepburn. Lisa revealed the lipstick shade which was probably closer to the shade in the movie. Sadly no shade name or brand was mentioned.

Mac Russian Red was created for Madonna's blonde ambition tour. She wanted a strong matte red that wouldn't smudge or budge during her show
The body makeup was also made for that tour...lmao it's like that tour invented makeup xD
She also kicked off the Black Honey craze in the 90s.

Oh I remember my grandmother had Christian Dior lipsticks! She had the lipstick tubes from the 1950's, I remember she had this big drawer with lots of makeup, and it had vintage makeup like compacts, lipsticks, etc. Mixed with the new makeup compacts, etc. I remember that every time we would go visit her I would try on her lipsticks and leave a kiss mark on the mirror. I think she was a beautician when she was younger, because she was obsessed with makeup and she would have these really old books about beauty and how to dye hair, actually, my dad keeps a book from like the 60's that was a guide for beauticians about how to dye hair. My grandmother died on 2017 and I still miss her. This channel reminds me of her so much, thank you for running this channel Laura! 💕

Honestly, drugstore makeup is really coming for the high end brands.
Ikr!! Honestly most of my favorite makeup is from drugstore brands. They've really come a long way.
Check out where the drugstore lipsticks are manufactured. Sometimes they’re manufactured along with the high end lipsticks. Made in France or Germany lipsticks are for Dior, Chanel, etc.
I wore Clinique Black Honey lip gloss in the pale green pot in High School, 1975 :D

There's always been some debate about which lipstick Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast At Tiffany's, whether it was Pink In The Afternoon or Fire And Ice. I spent A LOT of time researching this for my wedding day make up because I had an Audrey Hepburn themed wedding, the tables were named after her films (the bridal party table being, of course, Breakfast At Tiffany's!!!). I chose to wear Pink In The Afternoon because it was the one that seemed to be named most and I absolutely love it 😊❤️
When I had my colors done in my 20's, they gave me Revlon Cherries in the Snow. I wore it or something like it for years.

I think my favorite lipstick that I own is cherries in the snow, Im always in awe of how beautiful the shade is, in the shadow it looks reddish pink but in the sunlight it looks like a rich bright berry pink color I just love how it changes color depending on where you are. Pairing it with the nail polish is just so chic

Maybe the Revlon Pink in the Afternoon look slightly different in the Breakfast at tiffany's movie because of tecnicolor- all the colors looked slightly different
Ruby Woo dries out my lips like crazy. In my opinion the absolute best red ever was the limited edition Marilyn Monroe, Charmed I’m Sure by MAC. I would love to see it re-issued. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I love watching your videos. Can’t stop thinking about my beautiful grandma born in 1905. I loved her bedroom and makeup 💄. She was loyal to a makeup brand from Spain ( Maja ). In the late 1990’s me, as a teenager bought makeup for her. She loved my Cover Girl classic compact pressed powder. We had the same skin complexion ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I just bought a Dior 1947 for my mom's birthday, she's always looking for classic beige-y peaches that don't skew too orange, hopefully she likes it. I myself am a Guerlain Rouge G in good old No. 25 loyalist, but only on special occasions. Most of the time I wear Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers, the only truly universal red.
Pink in the Afternoon is very like how it looks on Audrey Hepburn on me. I think lipstick shades vary due to your own complexion and the chemical reaction on your skin. Rouge in Love is more Red on me than it is on you. Fire and Ice is more orange red on me
This was so fascinating! I was surprised by how many of them I've owned over the years and am familiar with! They're the best sellers for a reason. But I am absolutely obsessed with that leopard compact mirror with the starburst on it. So gorgeous!

My very first pricey lipstick was Russian Red by MAC and I’ve been a devoted MAC girl ever since! Ruby Woo is definitely my baby and ride or die forever. I love mixing it with Lady Danger for a perfect intense red. ♥️

Dior lipsticks are the best! My fave red of Dior’s is actually Concorde( I’m actually wearing it in my pic here). It’s a little more of a blue red then 999; it looks amazing if you have a cool undertone. Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow never leaves my handbag. It’s my go-to everyday red.

This video was so entertaining and informative. I agree with you about some of the drugstore lipsticks actually wearing and feeling better on the lips. I love Maybelline's formula, it's moisterizing but not overly greasy. You're dedication is appreciated. I would not be able to swatch all those lipsticks since my lips are already dry. I love my lipsticks!!! Been wearing lipstick from the age of 15. With Covid, no lipstick under my masks unless I want a sticky mess!!! Oh well nothing to be done; safety before vanity, right? (lol).
Use a lip coat.
I wear masks outside and lipstick ;) the disposable flat ones don't mess it up that much.
I miss lipstick too, I've been applying it lightly with a brush then waiting for it to stain then blotting the rest off so it doesn't transfer.
Try liquid lipstick it helps me !
Try kissing your mask so everyone knows what you've got underneath ;)

At 25:58 you see the print ad for Kissing Potion by Maybelline and OMG the memories! My friends and I went through gallons of that stuff in middle school in the early 70s. In strawberry flavor. It was a clear, roll on liquid gloss and sooooo sticky. IF you did kiss someone your lips would end up glued together. At least I think they would. I wasn't kissing boys in middle school LOL.

I have a ton of lipstick, but my favorite is Tangee Natural available from Vermont Country Store, the lipstick has been around for many years, my mom used to buy it in the early 1950s for 25 cents a tube (now it’s like $14), it takes on the pigmentation of your lips and lasts a long time.

So I watched your video yesterday and today I went into a drugstore here in Germany. Due to the pandemie you cannot swatch the cosmetics these days. So I bought Audrey Hrpburns Revlon lipstick only because of your recommendation, and I love it! It's a vibrant coral pink and the texture is smooth and nice, the smell is neutral. I’ve used Clinique Black Honey since middle school in the 90’s. It used to be this STICKY lip gloss, but now it’s a lovely tinted lip balm.
Oh yes miss Laura this was exceptional. I am seeing that pink in the afternoon is not really the dupe, but it is still in my top 5 Revlon shades, and I own quite a many. I am an absolute sucker for bright true red lipsticks. Revlon Fire and Ice is a favorite. Cherries in The Snow is too pinkish for me- but it makes a wonderful blush. I want to try a lot of these lipsticks, but as a poor college student, my options are sadly limited.
My favorite semi-luxury lipstick, Clinique's Red Red Red was just discontinued recently sadly. :(
This company can create almost any discontinued shade of lipstick. I used them about 10 years ago to create a shade that my friend used and loved over 40 years ago. Someone just had to send them a sample of it at some point so that they have the formulation for their records.

I agree with you that the Rimmel Kate Moss 111 red looks like MAC's Ruby Woo, perhaps even nicer. I appreciated all your analyses of the different colors here.
BUT, as you also said, it has a chemical smell that I find terribly strong and especially artificial, to the point that I've been considering throwing mine away (I have a different color from the same line)--and I'm not the type to just throw things away immediately if I don't like them.
