I’ve always adored the look of women in the 60s and 70s. The skin, the hair, it all seemed so simple yet so effective!
I happen to be a 60s girl and I am especially nostalgic about Yardley cosmetics. They had an eye shadow called Glimmerick and their Oh! de London was my favorite scent. In the US, there was a Seventeen model who was another icon and her name was Colleen Corby. That's her on the right of that ad featuring yellow fashions.
I recognized that girl from a 1966 Sears catalog I had.
Loved Yardley , mainly because I loved Jean Shrimpton ! I remember Colleen Corby too I still have a little book with all the SEVENTEEN models . I don’t even remember where I got it but have had since I was a teen !
As a 33year old never tried the cosmetic’s obviously but I love using their soap bar and plan on trying their perfume in the near future☺️🫶🏻☀️
Is she the one wearing a pony tail and or is she the one with her hair down wearing a red ribbon???
Yes, I remember Colleen Corby. And I thought Jean Shrimpton was gorgeous. I had the Yardley Slicker lipstick. "Slicker under, Slicker over... " still remember the commercial!
I used to work for a Lady who had a beautiful complexion. I asked her what she used & she said Dove soap.
My mom had great skin. She used Dove Soap, Nivea cream, and Vaseline.
Hi Laura, I always thought that Sharon Tate was one of the most beautiful women in the world. Bridgette Bardot,, Marilyn, Audrey, all so beautiful ! I really enjoyed seeing the advertisements for some of the cosmetics I used as a teenager (Yardley was really big back then,Mary Quant cosmetics were also very popular, but more expensive, and sold in boutiques rather than drug stores). My brother would iron my long blond hair while I sat on the floor ! Long ,straight hair, parted down the middle was all the rage. Twiggy, and Jean Shrimpton (known as "The Face") were on every magazine cover, or in every ad for clothes and cosmetics...we all wanted to be that London Girl ! Thanks for the "Groovy" memories ! Cindy
Hi ! I made 2 huge TWIGGY boards one summer. Decoupage . Hung in my bedroom for several years . She still looks cute!
The moisture on my face completely disappeared when I saw they used DIAL on their face. I could never 😭
I just wanted to add a comment about hair ironing. The hair was put on an ironing board, but then you put a pillowcase over the hair and someone would iron over the pillowcase, otherwise the hair would be scorched. My hair disaster was doing a home permanent while my hair was bleached blonde and the bottom of my long hair fell off from the over-processing. I had to get a pageboy cut and let the blond grow out! I had ombre-colored hair before it had a name while it grew out. Love all of the 60's ads in your videos!
Thank you! I got my mom to iron with no pillowcase 😂
My oldest Sister used a few Yardley products, back then. Also, Coty, Revlon, and Avon.
My mother had bouffant hair & hated when it went out of style.
I graduated from high school in 1966 and I looked just like the yearbook picture you showed. We all had the same teased hairstyles. So fun to see!
Those were my times, Laura. I thought the most beautiful actress was Elizabeth Taylor and the most beautiful model was Jean Shrimpton; both were English.
Gorgeous! Rosemarie 💖
I had a twiggy barbie doll and Mary Quant Daisy dolls!
This brings back memories! I lived in London then and loved my mini dresses worn with colored tights! It really was Swinging London- pink lipstick looked great on Jackie and we sure had either bouffant hairstyles or the long flip ❤
Thank u for this, I just adore Sharon her sweetness just radiates from her pictures. I wish there were more films of hers to watch. :(
10.5 I remember when Helena Rubinstein was @ drugstore. Now it is *very* expensive.
Where can you buy Helena Rubenstein today?
I’d love to have the Helena Rubenstein mascara
Technically we didn’t just use soap & water for makeup removal. A gentle lotion like Oil of Olay (before just being Olay) or a little Noxema was used like cleansing balm. You just had to be super careful around the eyes with Noxema. I can still smell the Noxema as it burned off the top layer of skin.
Miss the dime stores, Kresges, Woolworths, Grants, Murphys.
Sharon Tate was so beautiful.
i love 1960's style. reminds me so much of my mom!
I've adored Sharon since i was 16 when i discovered her, i'm 38 now. Love your videos!
Twiggy never did a cat eye...always "doll eye" look. Really enjoy all the pictures and ads from my teen years. Thanks so much for the memories!
Theeeee best Vintage Channel 👏🏻
Hello Laura,
Love silk pillowcases! Your skin is always so moist and glowing!
Super video depicting the fabulous 60's!
Much love
X
Thanks for watching
A few thoughts - the doe eye/doll look is coming back! I’ve seen this blow up with younger generations on Tik Tok and it’s very reminiscent of the 60s. I honestly love it. Now days we have so many products at our disposal, but women back then seemed to create such beautiful looks with less. I wonder how often women did these elaborate eye looks in real life? I also wonder if these hairstyles used hair pieces. The hair is so big and high it’s hard to believe it was all natural!
Hairdressers back then knew how to defy gravity 😂
We did this with scene make up in the early 2000s.
Yes, you are right. Hairpieces were extremely popular in the '60s. Especially the "fall," which was a long piece you attached at the crown of your head. I love moderate volume in hairstyles and wish it would come back and hairpieces would become trendy again.
@@gloriapinskerportraits4801 I forgot about falls, I wanted one so badly…lol.
@@janedough6575 So did I, and I was very fortunate in that my dear Aunt bought me one when I was 15. It totally changed my life. I felt glamorous, and it really boosted my confidence. I love wigs and hair pieces to this day.
I do my makeup to the video 💋
Thank you for all the fun!
That’s so fun
I love Twiggys look
I grew up in the early 70s. 60s was still inspiring the 70s, my mom said her look was what she called 'romantic cameo', meaning- look at cameo jewelry with women's profiles on them- and copy it
Loved Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra
Graduating high school in 1968, my yearbook was full of those bouffant hairdos and flips...😂
You really captured it, Laura! My mother was so beautiful during this era! She was a close horse, but minimal on the makeup and beauty Items. She had the full-on look with big hair and mod clothing. Love! Thank you so much! Just beautiful!
Thanks for watching
White lipstick and painted on bottom lashes. I was there lol.
Thanks for the 1966 pics. I graduated in 66, age 17. Had the flip, as did almost everyone else. You do such a nice job with your channel. Thanks again.
I love all your videos! Thanks for your videos! ❤️💞
I really love your channel! A lot of history, examples and sources…very entertaining and enlightening! Thanks for all you do! 🥰🥰🥳🥳
Thanks so much
Women in the 60s & 70s really cared about their appearance. They would never go to the store in pajama bottoms & slippers like some do today.
In Japan and Europe women still dress up to go out even to the grocery store . It inspired me to stop wearing pjs to the store 😂
In the 60s, I remember some women going out to do errands in their curlers
Very true
You look so beautiful in this video. ✨
we can uplift women without bringing down other women
I'm interested in the beauty and hair care of 1960 actresses. Yvonne DeCarlo, Carolyn Jones, Agnes Moorehead and Irene Ryan. Since they all had to wear heavy makeup and wigs for their roles. Lily Munster, Morticia Addams, Endora and Granny.
Yvonne de Carlo is so beautiful 😍 I've watched that crappy movie "Salome Where She Danced" many times, simply and only to see her...
I am adding the sleep and glow to my Christmas list! ❤
I loved this video and I went right to Walmart for Almay Skip the Gym.
I was 13 in 1960. That was my decade for sure! Revlon was my favorite brand of make-up. Colors of taupe, beige and pale pink with frost were my color palette and my hair was flipped or long and straight. False lashes for sure!! It was a great time to be a glam career girl. ❤
This is my favourite video from Laura.
Thanks for this !
You do such a great job with your videos! keep up the great work. 🤗💖🙏🏼
Your skin looks amazing!! Please do a video on your current skincare.
This is my first time on your channel I grew up in the sixties so looking forward to hearing this also I use a satim pillowcase
I love you’re channel!!

My first blush was posner custom blends . . Loved it .
Hi this is Latonya love your Channel keep coming out with the great videos
Thanks so much
Great episode.
Those dolls that you have in the background, my beloved Grandma had some just like those! She kept them on her " beauty" as she would call it. aka dresser. Seeing them in your videos makes me happy! I sure do miss her. She taught me how to be a woman. With her makeup routine and her nighttime facial massage with her Avon night cream. I can still smell it when I think back. I love your content! Thank you!❤
you have some really great footage of sharon tate most i had never scene, really great vid Mahalo :)
I really enjoy your videos 💞
Thank you
I was a high school lad in the 60's and the bouffant/beehive hairstyle was very popular until the around 1967 with the rise of the hippies and almost overnight the long straight look was in. I recall a lot would do the ironing board trick.
Good video 👍 It might be an idea to have a look at Shirley Maclaine. She's quite fascinating. I'd love to see a video about her style and her make up from the film, Gambit.
Sharon Tate was pretty
Sharon Tate was that girl!!
60’s was a fantastic era though 70’s was better because I was born then lol 😂 happy weekend have a fun Halloween 🎃
9.46 It was very hard in 1990's to find translucent powder.
Corn Silk came close!
🔥
I used to iron my hair, lol when I was like 13 because my Mimi told me about it needless to say she is a baby boomer❤
Constructive feedback; please consider moving the camera down, the top down angle is weird. Great content and well researched history. Thank you for your fantastic contribution to the beauty world!
Thank you I know my friend said the same about the camera. I’m working on a new set. Thanks for the feedback
Nothing is weird about the camera angle
💖💖💖
I wish you would find out what lipstick Bo Derek uses its beautiful shade thanks
💖
Does anyone remember Buzz-Buzz Pink lipstick? They sold it in our local Kresge's.

I don’t like Gloria Steinem
