Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to UA-cam videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. Lots of love, Man Moth.
I see what you did with the shop, well done. I think you're safely this side of any TM's while still carrying the spirit of the show. Two unsolicited suggestions: "and that" with counter rolling over on the other side. And "KP Pumpkins, head on over, pilk your own." Cheers.
There's been lots of good podcsts and radio shows, but honestly nothing has come close to these three, especially XFM/Guardian podcast days. I cannot tell how many times I've listened to these over the past 13+ years since they were on air, but I never tire of them. Nothing is forced like a lot of podcasts - you can tell they were all genuine friendships at the time.
Definitely. You can also tell they didn't care one bit about appealing to any demographic or whatever, they're just having a laugh. Sometimes the best quality control is none at all.
Same here mate. Whenever I'm proper hungover and/or depressed I put these on and instantly feel better. The chemistry between RSK is still unparalleled
Iconic episode right here. The birth of the man, the myth; Dickie Anders, and one of my favourite rockbusters of all time: ‘he doesn’t like women, but he’s got a couple of kids? PD’.
"His arm went long" - definitely a doctor. Still waiting for "Old Cold Belly Badness: The History of Abdominal Surgery" to hit the bookshelves though! XD
I love how Karl hilariously takes on the role of a serious producer and takes his second reading of Rockbusters super seriously, after he realized he laughed through it the first time.
I love that when Ricky & Steve are talking about going round to do an outside broadcast at Karl's flat, wanting to see the 'Dancing Chinese kid', Ricky says that he's actually more likely to be 35 & Karl disagrees 'Well...more like 28' as Karl later voices the opinion that you only see young and really old Chinese people, you never seem them in their 30s!

Apparently Karl's origin of "burning the candle at both ends" is bollocks, and it actually came from 17th century france, where candles were pretty expensive, and burning them at both ends invokes the image that you were wastefully burning through money, and eventually the phrase mutated into burning through your own energy rather than money.
i love how each of the guys has their own catchphrase... for karl, its "weird, innit?" steve's is "man alive!" and ricky's is of course his laugh (dont know if that counts as a catch phrase, but...)
Same thing with the 1000 monkeys Shakespeare thing. He said it was true and Karl denied it, then a maths student emailed in and corrected Ricky that infinitely makes it highly likely they’ll write Shakespeare but not a mathematical certainty. Ricky acted like that’s what he said all along then deleted this from his memory and kept on saying the 1000 monkeys myth afterwards. Ricky’s intellectual insecurity is perhaps his most unfortunate characteristic.
Ricky doing that “pub quiz regular” thing where they drop a random fact they remember about something in the conversation to demonstrate how smart they are with the frog name.

But fear not, if there ever was a divorce of sorts Ricky would seek custody of Karl.
Here's a question - can anyone work out where Karl used to live while they were doing this show? (I don't know by the way) Some clues I've picked up: - Here he says the parking is bad round his way - It's walking distance from the studio - He walks through Soho to get to the studio (which was in Leicester Square) - It's a high street - It's central London So, it has to be somewhere to the North-West of Leicester Square.
