The solo that I fell in love with is the one on the record. The song came out and it just hit home to me, which is not something that happens much, or at all really. It was a song that spoke to me, specifically me, and I haven’t listened to a song on repeat since I was a kid, but I did that day and again since. That lead in, through the bend and off into the distance. That will always be THE solo for me.
Justin if you ever want tabs for that solo I got them transcribed quite a while back. Let me know I’ll send you them on the gear page. It’s a fun one to play
watching another one of my fav guitar players is Chris Buck - he said it is the "vibe chorus" fyi great video from chris on this pedal titled "hendrix and Gilmour secret weapon" awesome solo by John.
Awesome video Justin! It’s funny, I had definitely talked myself out of it being a fuzz, despite it honestly being rather obvious that it’s a fuzz! You can tell primarily when he plays more than one note at a time and the intervals grind together in a way that they don’t with standard overdrives! Also I totally agree that I dig the Sob Rock arrangement better, Greg Phillinganes especially adds so much to it, his keys performance plus his vocals on the “walking away” section are just superb 🔥🔥
Great video !! I haven't been inspired by a song, solo, and a guitar tone in a long long time. he nailed it with this song and you can tell he loves digging to that outro night after night. If anyone is interested. I get pretty darn close to his tone with a Vemuram OZ. its kind of a hybrid fuzz / overdrive pedal. Cheers!
For you guys on a budget like me, if you want to come close to this and not use a fuzz… I know this sounds crazy, but try a rat pedal with your tube screamer. Screamer into a rat is a cool sound. I use the joyo splinter and set it to fat mode. The rat is a heavy gain pedal but borders on fuzz. The screamer and the filter dial can get rid of a lot of the low end of the fat but give you a lead tone with some of that fuzz spit on it. It’s not perfect on the Jhs supreme is probably better, but if the difference between 37 bucks and 150 bucks is enough to get you to say no to the 150 like me lol it might be an experiment worth trying.
Thanks for the shoutout, Justin, great video!
He used his silver sky in Auckland NZ for IGIJFL and that was the first show of the tour. Was gutted didn't get to see the casino ha

I have the final one from last year (live in Boston) if you want it. It's the best one I have heard

Turns out my little orange behringer pedal does the same thing quite well for a fraction of the price 😇

Pro secret - tube screamer into a boss DS-2 with the right settings gets a nice fuzzy tone with good clarity
Hands down the Casino version for my ears
