And in an interview with Slayer they thought they were going to lose Dave. Tom and the gang still treated him like shit the whole time he was in the band. And the record label and management as well.

I saw Slayer in '88 and year after Jeff died. Not into thrash anymore (I'm 49.) But still love this band. Kerry and Jeff solos, Thom's vocals and Lombardo on drums! (Liked Master of Puppets album.)

The satanic stuff is a marketing gimmick, the lyrics are almost humorous if you listen to them. Like a B rated Halloween flick. But I agree they are the best speed metal band in the genre.
Once when Tom was asked if God actually hates us all, he replied no, God is Love. These are awesome people that create fun, wild, energetic music - very well. They play with the darkness, but it’s play.
Back then, yeah. Dave was struggling with his technique at the time and Paul was superior in just about every area. Nowadays, Dave is arguably a better drummer than he ever was in his original Slayer run, and double bass is no contest.
Not their best performance by any means, Tom`s voice was pretty shot to bits, and Kerry`s guitar was gone for all of the second track in the set, lol. Plus throwing in a couple of punk covers in the middle didnt really help.

Paul has changed his playing a bit over the years and he is no longer the brilliant drummer he was then. Last Slayer gigs he was a bit sloppy and he seems like he plays "back in the tempo" of the songs.

Paul Bostaph is such a great drummer. Dave levitates above all but Paul got something to his playing that drags me into it.
