One of my best show memories is Slayer, at the Orpheum in Boston, touring for Seasons and everybody was long hair and leather jackets. Everybody, and I mean everybody was head banging in unison. It was an amazing sight and Slayer were amazing. Took a girl buddy to a show in ‘95 in Seattle. She wanted to see what all the hubbub was about and it was open floor. As soon as they kicked in to Raining Blood the tornado swirl was instantaneous and she was down in a second. Helped pick her up and after a few moments she was agreeable to heading to the nearest seats!
1991 Bonneville raceway in salt lake city Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Alice in chains clash of the Titans I graduated highschool the weekend before and that show set the tone for the rest of the '90s.
My first time seeing Slayer was in 2006 when the original 4 reunited for Christ Illusion, and the pit during Raining Blood was exactly as you described, felt like a tornado formed above the pit and the ENTIRE place went fucking apeshit. One of Tom's picks stuck to my my sweat-covered forehead when Dave threw them out in the crowd at the end of the show.
I have been watching a lot of Slayer and Cannibal Corpse concert footage lately. At 60 I still love my Zep and Floyd but I need the energy that only the best Thrash and Death Metal bands ever can give me!

Slayer needs to start releasing live footage stuff from the 90’s when they were in amazing shape especially tom’s vocals. I want to see Paul in his younger days like live intrusion on a good quality.
Met them on the Divine Intervention tour in Florida , Tom & Paul were cool but Kerry & Jeff (rip) wouldn’t speak but nonetheless a great experience something I’ll never forget 🤘🏻🤘🏻
You mean apart from the dozen or more Big 4 shows? lol. And no, Slayer did not "smoke "Metallica at Donington in 1995, though they were very good, even with some bad sound issues.
I was there... and I still have a near-mint condition, one-off "Donington: Death Loves Final Embrace" Slayer t-shirt like Tom is wearing here. I remember joking that I was going to get my kids christened in it. 26 years later and I still have no kids...but the shirt makes my wardrobe 1OO times more satanic than anything you'd find at Ikea! Anybody know any good price guides for old gig shirts???
As a balding man in his thirties, I feel for Kerry. But damnit, at least he didn't stop shredding did he? By the 2000s the whole bands cervical bones were mashed potatoes anyways, so Kerry could rest easy by then.
Whenever I'm depressed I listen to Slayer, they always put a smile on my face.
Same man, sounds dumb but they seriously saved my life when I was going through a tough time.
I don't know how but have almost the same like You, they give me puur sound to my head \,/
exactly why i have been listening to them for the past 30 years
Bro.. Yes...everyone thinks I'm weird for doing this. Thanks for sharing. Works for grief as well they'll knock that shit right out of there. Rip Hanneman

Saw my first Slayer concert in 1982 the day after Christmas. I was 12... Man I miss my fucking youth !
Dayum, now that's something! Hats off to you sir. My 1st one was "Hell Awaits" tour, Dynamo/Eindhoven1985 and that already was a life changer. 🤘
1988 supported by Nuclear Assault was my first Slayer gig, Birmingham Hummingbird. World Sacrifice tour! I was 16 and miss my fucking youth too lol!
I was there, four of us travelled over from Ireland.
Over a quarter of a century ago and it still feels like yesterday.

I have always wondered how guitarists can stand right in front of that huge wall of Marshall speakers and not get their eardrums blown out?
Simple, only a few cabs are being used and the rest are empty shells just for show
Their ears are stuffed with earplugs, also amplifiers amplify sound, it's louder the further away it is in an open arena.
