    One of the more informative videos on UA-cam. This was very helpful in my decision making. Thank you

      Mike Radliff So you went with DiGiCo? or you went with model PRO1?

    I thought it was the other way around - that when the company that owns Behringer bought Midas, they used the tech to create a budget hardware unit called the X32.

    I have owned the x32 for about 3 years and the m32 a little less than a year now i am glad that i have upgraded,although if i had the money id spend 75k on a api console for recording,because thats what i use mine for. a year of use on the m32 in the studio it still looks liek i got it out of the box this thing will last a lifetime..hopefully. and i got mine new for 3300...shop around!

    I use the M32 at our local theatre to mix live bands, theatre companies etc, and I have also used the x32 for smaller shows. One needs to remember if price is a concern that unless you have high end speakers like meyer or other concert level gear the x32 will be just fine and I honestly wouldn't buy a 5000 dollar console to run into mid level speakers

    honestly 96khz vs 44.1/48khz is easily worth the $2,000 difference... guys its a MIDAS console for $5,000, if you said that two years ago people would think your nuts

    When he says the Midas will withstand more, he's not joking. They're tanks.

    I have both..They both spec out identical. The Midas board feels and looks better IMHO but as for sound?, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in a blind shoot out. I guess the name "Midas" is worth an extra 2K to some, personally I would recommend to get the X32 and a X32 Rack as backup for the price of the Midas..:)

      I used an X32 for 6 months (3 - 5 days/week) a couple years ago and had to take it apart twice to do minor hardware repairs. I doubt I would have had to do that with the Midas.

    Great Vid. How durable is the console?? Can it survive extreme heat on outdoor shows? Can it survive wonky electrical supply?? Can it survive being used as a rental console?? How visible is the screen with direct sunlight??

    No update on the drivers, it does not work with windows 10 o latest mac os, and they don't mention this on their website, I had it for two weeks, and did not work, it looks great, but is a split 16-16 , now I'm happy with Presonus studio live iii 32 input/faders. working right out of the box.

    How do you lockout/Restrict band members from have access to their individual in-ear monitor mix 'BUS' so they can only access their own mix and not mess with the other parts of the console/Mix on the X32/M32 Mix app?

    Do the faders control voltage? Aren't they just digital encoders?

    • @Mtaalas
      @Mtaalas 9 років тому +1

      deetgeluid Yes, they're voltage dividers and the control voltage is fed into an ADC so that DSP can know where the fader currently is.

    I'm very confused!! Behringer Tutorials on UA-cam their saying the x32 come with Midas preamps! Here you say they do not! Can you please clarify this please...

    • @starclassic71
      @starclassic71 7 років тому +1

      The X32 has Midas designed preamps while the M32 preamps are supposed to be the actual ones used in the Midas Pro Series consoles.

    • @IglesiaPentecostalElArca
      @IglesiaPentecostalElArca 6 років тому +2

      The X32 Use Midas preamps (not the Pro version), the Midas M32 Uses Midas preamps PRO version. The difference is that Midas uses the Pro version and Behringer does not.

    Will the midas faders last longer before getting worn and causing problems? I have read that some X32's are already having fader problems.

    • @Nooneofconsequence47

      probably, midas faders are supposed to last for over a million cycles. can't find stuff for the x32

    Guys I know a lot of these features he's talking about seem child like. But at least he covered these issues. If you want a more intricate review then simply click on another video lol. I personally enjoy the fact that he covered such issues head to head with the X32. These two boards are the main rivals of each other, so the basics need to be covered as well. Also to be a bit more uppity (haha); if you're running a studio in which you work with artists the M32 will not only help you out tremendously in better visual style, but also in better sound. I don't know about you, but I tend to make better music when I'm inspired somewhat by the gear I'm using. It's not my main source of inspiration at all, but it does come into play. If I were to walk into a studio and see an oversized flat surfaced mixer that has the same visual features as those back in the late 90's (multitrack recorders), I would be less inspired on the technical side. If I were to walk into a studio and see the M32, I would think to myself "hell yea, I can't wait to get my hands on this thing to see what masterpiece I can create!"

    Does it have noise specs that are proper for recording studio permanent set up?

    • @3star2nr
      @3star2nr 5 років тому

      Depends on how u want to use it. But its really a waste to not use this for live sound as it was intended.
      You can use it just as a control surface to control the faders in the DAW. IN that case you're using it as a $5000.00 mouse...
      Or you can track audio through it and mix like an old neve console.
      In that case you're only sampling at 48k At 16bit versus going through a typical 300.00 and up audio interface which can sample at 96k or 192k... At 24bit.
      The other major disadvantage would be you'd be feeding your DAW a 2 bus stereo mix so u basically gave up all your ability to edit the audio after or apply plugins...
      The 3rd option is to use it as a audio interface. Major advantage is you can do multi track recording via the USB ports you also have 32 inputs which is a huge deal.
      The drawback again is the sampling rate. 48k, is just not good enough to be competative in today's music market...
      So to answer your question yes you can do it but that would really be a waste of an amazing console.
      Why would you spend 5000.00 to tie your hands behind your back.

  • @3star2nr

    Ironically, It turns out the faders are the worst part of the M32 mixer, so easy to get into problems.

  • @dougle03
    @dougle03 9 років тому +3

    So... The faders move slightly differently but still competent, the case is angled in the middle but it's the pre's are different... I put it out there that the main difference is the name alone. Brand snobbery!!!
