I SO agree with you!!! Drives me CRAZY when SO many people are saying we MUSt get 8 hours of sleep at night. And I have SO many 3 or 5 hour nights. THANK for affirming that we CAN survive with less sleep!!!
@TheMelaniewilliams I'm so glad this resonates with you! We can absolutely survive, and even feel okay, with less sleep! We're all so unique in our sleep needs. And our attitude about this impacts how we feel. Thanks for commenting! I just looked at your channel and you have such a lovely, calming presence.💖

Thanks so much for this helpful compassionate video sweet Rebecca! Will definitely help my long disturbed sleep patterns to settle.. Greetings and blessings from France 🇫🇷 ❤🎉❤🎉

@sebastianjakobsen548 I'm so glad that somatic tracking helps your nervous system relax. It was pivotal for my recovery from insomnia and other mind-body symptoms! You can try a free meditation when you sign up for my newsletter here: www.rebeccatolin.com/newsletter Keep at it!
Yes, I developed CFS/ME symptoms after having 19 major stresses, 4 of them traumas. No wonder my body and brain reacted! No-one ever asked what happened BEFORE the symptoms began. I'm so glad the new paradigm in medicine is doing just that, and helping people face repressed emotions and old trauma and grief. I loved somatic tracking videos for learning to befriend your symptoms and sensations. I began to improve my sleep when stopped fearing it, and learned to do meditation and aerobic exercise, both of which have similar brain effects to sleep. Even when I slept badly, doing a number of small meditations had me feeling just fine and accomplishing a lot. I also wonder how many people like you had sexual assault at night, so the crocodile brain stayed reactive as protection. I had a rape attempt, and though I fought him off, the brain could still be trying to keep me safe at night. I now fall asleep easily most of the time, but wake up quite often. When there's a lot of stress, I have insomnia in the middle of the night. Getting up and doing the 478 breath usually makes me sleepy and gets me back to sleep, but if it doesn't, I use various forms of meditation like Chi Gong, guided visualizations, and yoga nidra to make up for the sleep deficit. I love journaling, but will try Expressive Writing! I also tend to like doing a gratitude list at night, which does just as you said - shifts you to a loving, accepting state - but i have to be careful not to be too "perky positive" as you can be repressing emotion without realizing it. For me, dancing is my best medicine. I discover emotions I didn't know were there when I dance, and can express then release them in a creative way I love. Even though we're not supposed to do strong exercise at night, I find dance is fine. Thanks, Rebecca, for these informative and inspirational videos!
@@alexandrecouture2462 So great to see you! I’ve been wanting to make this video and blog for a long time. I hope it’s helpful, and that your sleep has already improved!💓
I honestly think my cfs was mostly driven by lack of sleep and pushing my self on those days and getting stuck in that cycle. Now I know to take it easy on those days where I had sleepless night, is it true that one lack of sleep night takes 2-3 to bounce back ?
@ezza1236 Great realization! Our nervous systems don't like to be continually pushed and rushed. It signals danger. Nope, it's not true that one bad night takes 2 - 3 to bounce back from! I explain it more in my blog: www.rebeccatolin.com/blog/how-to-overcome-insomnia
@ I think ur right, for example I had 4 hours of sleep the other night, so that same day I just backed off and took it easy, no pushing, then I slept well the following night and felt back to normal
@@ezza1236 Exactly! Great observation. As we build up sleep drive, after not sleeping well one night, we often sleep better the next night and feel just fine after that!
Wow, i’m just in a phase of some weeks with more insomnia than usual. This video shows up right at perfect time! Thank you, Rebecca 🤍 I realise that sometimes it’s hard for me to let go of the pressure to have to sleep well and trying to force it and at the same time doing those techniques to „make me“ to sleep better. Feels a bit like mixed signals to my brain 😅 But i guess it just needs time to find my balance with this. Is it possible to share one of those somatic meditations which could help doing before sleep? I’m very curious. :)
