  • Are you trying to decide between a fishing boat or a fishing kayak? If so, watch this video for my comparison of the Pelican Bass Raider and my Old Town Sportsman Kayak. I've talked on this subject before, but in this video, I show you some of the advantages or disadvantages of each type. Ultimately, it will come down to what style of fishing you prefer and your own personal tendencies. If nothing else, it's a good spirited topic to debate. Let's go!

Excellent video my friend I’m staying with my kayak, I can’t wait to get my plastic kayak boat lol! You explained both point of views brilliantly I’ve seen arguments over the internet of other complains it’s not a kayak if it has a motor on it. The only true kayak is one you can paddle across the lake! In tournaments I’ve seen someone really working hard paddling, but the kayaks that peddled were moving faster and the kayaks that’s motorized across the lakes got to the spots first! My argument as well as you would at least have to give up an hour of fishing just to make it back to the dock on time and off the water before you got disqualified! Unless y you were wanting to get a good workout while you’re fishing go for it but if we wanted to do that we would walk to work and not drive either innovation is worth it lol! Tight lines take care and God bless!

Thank you J! I was in my kayak today with the peddle unit and was getting 3.9 MPH but there is no way I can do that for a prolonged period. However, peddling nice and steady I was getting 3 MPH which is about speed 4 on my trolling motor and was very sustainable. Trolling motors are probably best for conserving energy but aren't great for speed. If you're looking for speed, something like an NK180. I think I'm gonna take the yak out this coming weekend with just my paddle for kicks and grins. I've never done that before so I want to see what it's like. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Good video, that took some work and time to do. I have to say I like my Raider better than my kayak. I think a problem you may have is you're trying to set up the Raider the same way you do your kayak when they are two totally different style of boats. Would be like setting up a "Bass Boat" and full size "Pontoon Boat" the same way and expecting the same results. Again, great job putting all this together. Now, I got to go, I heard the fish are biting here.😁

Thank you! Yes, I'm very comfortable in the kayak and usually more relaxed which is one of the beautiful things about being on the water. Even if the fish don't bite. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
